As a side note, I seem to remember when Three changed their T's & C's a few years ago, their call centre staff were also claiming it was because of the government.
You can almost hear them saying "Wasn't me guv'nor .. honest"0 -
Hi Guys,
I have not received this txt yet and was wondering if i have not received this by 8th December, then surley they are breaking the agreement by not given me enough notice for this increase.
If this is correct then should i be able to get out of my contract with no fee to pay?
Sorry if i have got this wrong just wanted to found out.:think:0 -

Based on that alone no, it jsut means they would have to put back from when they can increase your bills.
The main argument is whether they can increase the bills whether or not they give you 1 months notice.
I submitted my complaint 2 days ago still not heard back from them. I did it online to save time in the post.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Neither will Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile or any network.
Its all about your monthly spend now not your loyalty. I'm leaving Vodafone as they won't offer me any thing much as an upgrade. Read the threads and Vodafone customer service os regularly slated on here.
The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence, but rarely is in practice.
While I agree that Offcom should change the rules to prevent companies changing tarrif prices during a fixed term contract it appears they are too gutless to stand up to the inductry.
Regardless, no business transaction should be about "loyalty". The phone companies want our money, we want the cheapest price possible. Most self described "loyal customers" are only kept "loyal" due to the lock in period of their contract anyway. Everytime mine is up I shop around. It is only by chance that I have renewed with Orange for a few years now. Have been with both Vodafone and O2 in the past0 -
Phoned Orange today. First adviser extremely unhelpful, verging on rude. Eventually he agreed to put my husband through to his manager. Manager was more helpful. They have dropped our £30 (plus increase) a month contract down to £25 (plus increase). Same minutes etc, in fact we actually get more data on the new contract. We've seven months left on the contract so it actually works out OK. We were happy enough with this so didn't push for cancelling.
As for people saying 'get a pay as you go' it actually works out significantly cheaper for me, an many others, to have a contract. I do check this every time I renew.Trying hard to remember... "Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery." [STRIKE]C/C £800[/STRIKE] paid off February! :T

i started a 24m contract with Orange 3-4 months ago, can anyone give me a letter template ? i want to write to them too. Surely this is not legal. How would they like if i start paying 5% less each month cos my self employment income has gone down.Mejor morir de pie que vivir toda una vida de rodillas.0

It's a colossal legal battle just waiting to happen. It happened with the banks and PPI and also endowments misselling and it just needs someone prepared to fight the big guy through the courts.
Don't think it would ever get to court because Orange would cut their losses beforehand.
The only way this could get before a court is if someone decided to take it there at their own expense, it would be heard before a small claims court probably as it relates to domestic/consumer contracts of a low value, the decisions made in these courts are not subject to precedents, they don't bind any other court.
Taking legal action against big companies can expose you to their costs should you lose, which could run into thousands of pounds.0 -
whats really annoyed me is that Orange increase our monthly plan and then new customers are getting these sawnky headphones for joining with them so basically we are paying for new customers to join!!!! not happy so want to move as I have always been a loyal customer.0

They are not headphones. They are earplugs so that new customers can't hear all the complaints about the increases to the charges. :beer:0
