similar tale with my M-I-L, luckily as I deal with her money she rang me for her bank details & I got her to put the 'very nice man' on the phone & after grilling him I found out that he was quoting her for a monthly cost but I insisted that he told me the overalll cost & APR which was extorionate - hence I told him to leave or her 3 very large sons would arrive in 10 mins & sorted her out a local firm - just had back door, 4 windows & large french doors with full length side panels either side for 3500 - CANCEL CANCEL CANCEL0

Post a cancellation letter and send it first class signed for - you'll know when it's arrived and have proof of cancellation letter arriving - should get there before the weekend so you can enjoy the weekend without being stressed.
After posting, track the letter progress here:

Now have a cup of tea and relax....0 -
Couldn't agree more about cancelling by letter and getting it signed for. Its amazing the amount of times people forget what has been said on a phone.0

Just chimming in on this, do you have box sash windows? if so these are easily restored and draught proofed and can be made to look as good as new and made to work perfectly, with the added extras of draught proofing etc.
Sash windows add value to property and a restoration is MUCH cheaper. Plus windows made many moons ago are mostly a hell of alot better quality.
If its plastic windows you have i can't offer any advice i am afraid i have no clue what they cost

JS2006 wrote:Hey furndire, I phoned up the next morning and not only had the message changed from "Hello you have reached Weatherseal Holdings..." to "Hello you have reached Weatherseal Home Improvement Group" but I was able to cancel easily. Iwas told that the salesman would call to confirm cancellation but he hasn't and tbh I don't want him to phone because I'd be annoyed and apprehensive he'd try to get me to reconsider.
Now see here. This tale alarms me. I don't much like the sound of "salesman would call to confirm cancellation" very much at all. For your own peace of mind you must get written confirmation that you have cancelled and the best way you can do this is to either write to them and send via Recorded Delivery, or take the cancellation letter to them directly and get them to sign a piece of paper acknowledging the receipt.
I worry about you and I'm concerned that your 14 days grace are ticking away and that you have no concrete proof of your desire to cancel.0 -

Totally agree, they will string you along until your fourteen days has gone. The most important job for you to do first thing tomorrow morning is send that letter.
People renage on phone calls. Can you fax it to them, and follow up with a letter - at least you will have a start to a paper trail.0
