He was trying to make you feel sorry for him and at the same time he knew he was on the turf at that moment and that if he exited the stage and someone else arrived and gave you a lower quote that he would have lost out!!
Be very suspicious of these salespeople, after all, they've earned it!
He was a really slimey git. His next attempt to make me feel sorry for him was to say that he was independant and had to pay Safestyle for the appointment. And that he didn't usually take appoinments for single women and they rarely signed up on the night as they usually have to ask permission from their Dad or Boyfriend. I don't know who that kind of rubbish works on, but it was having the opposite effect on me!
Between him and the woman who kept insisting on phoning her manger for better deals  (Was aware of this scam and tried to kick her out the second she started it) I didn't even get a quote from a national company when I moved to another house that needed double glazing. I just went for local companies.0 -

....and do come back and let us all know how well you do in the end with your sensible quotes. Remember, stick at £2k for the lot and let them leave if necessary. You can always call them back. You can always move up to the lowet price they give you. But what you cannot do is go lower once you've put your stake in the ground.
Another point I almost overlooked here. The finance of it. Are you getting the best deal? The window co's finance might not be good for you. They'll want you to have it because they'll get another rake off for signing you up to the finance. Your bank may be a better option.0 -

I will do. The windows do need doing, no doubt about it. They're old, draughty and definately a security liability but maybe next time I'll think before I put pen to paper
Thanks again everyone.0 -
According to Companies House Weatherseal Holdings Ltd is a dormant company and doesnt trade. It may have other people acting as agents for it though.
If I were you I'd run a mile.Mummy to two girls, 4 & 1, been at home for four years, struggling to contend with the terrifying thought of returning to work.0 -
how do these big companies get away with quoting such large amounts? my parents were duped by safe style, there sales woman said the lot would cost 12,000 my mum and dad looked shocked but then she said she could do them a deal and they could have them for 6000, when she went to her car to let my parents think about it i begged them not to sign, but they hadn't had any quotes from anyone else and thought going with a big company would be cheaper and who would listen to a 14yr old. they are paying for it now though with interest the total figure to repay was 12000 totally ripped off0

Yes cancel the whole order, and dont think your a fool, as we all get taken in or pressurised at some time, just watch watchdog, or rogue traders.
These companies/salesmen know exactly what they are doing with the sob stories, they will make phonecalls to thier 'boss' to try and get you a better deal, its all pre-arranged beforehand.
I would rather lose the 100 pounds now, than be stuck with such a big outlay, and at the end of the day you have learned a valuable lesson, that is how we all learn, when we get stung.:D0
