Came home today to find letter from the Halifax informing me they were reducing my fixed rate payment by £55 - presumably because they want to offset all my good work Oping and make me pay them for as long as possible! So from May 1st will be increasing all my Ops by £55 to hopefully stay on track as intended. Does this make sense or am I missing something?MFW - number 11
OP Target for 2014 £1500 Mortgage now £437450 -
Hi Lighthouse
I've got exactly the same - a reduction of £47.23 - for me. I'm adding it to my regular Over-Payment, but in effect that is what that amount was doing all along - the more you pay off against the capital the more your minimum repayment amount goes down, we only know about it when they change the interest rate and therefore recalculate our standard payment
Mine is as a result of their change in SVR to 3.99% and presume yours is too
We are doing the right thing - if we accepted the lower payment it would take longer to repay0
