I used to take the pushchair through, and bend the mirrors back.
Some really didn't want to move, I doubt they ever went back properly.
  • Should I be complaining to the council, then?

    I would.
Send them a recorded delivery letter giving full details of when and where the obstruction is taking place, along with details of the car concerned. (maybe even a photo showing it blocking the whole of the pavement).

Make sure that you stress that you consider the obstruction to be very dangerous due to the fact that the pavement is totally blocked and that anyone using it (including many children) has to walk in the road to get past and that it is your opinion that it is only a matter of time before someone is injured or killed.

They might ignore a phone call, but once there is proof that they have received written notification of a possible danger then they may feel compelled to act on it.

Put a sticker on it saying "pavements are for people".

And under the RTA are part of the road.;)
  • Key it down the pavement side, knock a mirror off, walk over the car. All good ways.

why not go all the way?

they have a duty to remove all burnt out vehicles.

You sure it's not your car?
  • It's tempting, but scratching it would be vandalism and criminal damage.

Just because they're breaking the law doesn't mean I should.

Two wrongs don't make a right, etc.

I doubt the OP walks his dog through my garage.
  • This makes me angry too especially when I'm with my son in his pushchair. I fold the wing mirrors in and if the car still parks on the pavement the wipers go up too. it's worked for me but realise it might not work for everyone.

Maybe the car belongs to a police officer!
