Someone keeps parking on the pavement

round the corner from where I live (in a residential area in a small town). I have reported the car twice to police. The car is always parked after dark with all four wheels on the pavement and totally blocking access for pedestrians, so I have to walk out into the road to get past, which makes me indignant. The police don't do anything other than calling me back to claim that they tried calling the number the car is registered to, but they couldn't get through to the owner.
The car is now there AGAIN! I've just been forced to walk out into the road again when walking my dog.
Why should the person be allowed to get away with this? Shouldn't the car be clamped and towed away? If it were parked like that in the middle of a city, it wouldn't last five minutes. Why should it be any different just because it's a small town?
I know...I know...it's a minor thing to get annoyed about, really, isn't it?
:o But they're breaking the law!

How about putting a little note explaining your difficulties under a wiper blade? It really isn't worth getting worked up over as you haven't spoken to them and explained your difficulties, they might not realise. Softly softly might just solve your issues. Would it help if they parked half on half off?LBM: 22.12.2010 :j Self-managed DMP start 29.1.2011DMP Mutual Support Thread No: 4130

I did think of going and putting a note under their wiper blade, but I felt that would be "taking the law into my own hands" too much. I thought that acting like a self-appointed traffic warden might get me into trouble or just make them angry with me.0 -
Report it, ask for the name of the officier you report it to, then follow it up with a complaint to the chief constable if they don't do anyhing.0

I never thought to escalate my complaint. I've already reported it twice now, and the officers have not given me their names nor given me an incident number. I don't even know if they're logging my reports in their computer or not. To be honest, I always feel rather sheepish about calling them, as it seems like I'm bothering them over what seems like quite a minor issue, and it always happens at weekends, when they've got more urgent things to sort out - like drunken yobs.0 -

I feel thats the more softly softly approach than calling in the officials. I'd prefer a note if I was causing an obstruction, it might make me think twice next time.LBM: 22.12.2010 :j Self-managed DMP start 29.1.2011DMP Mutual Support Thread No: 4130 -
