Has anyone had any luck with getting back mortgage exit fees from Verso, now taken over by Platform Mortgages.
They charged my £135 exit fees and £50 deeds fees. So far they have sent me a cheque for only £35. I have wrote them another letter asking for an increase in the refund and am waiting for a reply.
Thanks0 -
Why? Do you believe that their fees when your loan started were less than £100+£50? Given that Verso haven't been around all that long (even before being taken over) I'm not sure that their £100+£50 figure is incorrect.0

Received a cheque for £125 from Abbey today after sending them a letter by recorded delivery asking them politely what had happened to my application for Admin. Fees refund sent 2 weeks earlier.
They'd charged me £225 originally. Thanks MSE for the advice.0 -

Will be interested to see what response you get.

Charged £225 by Abbey in December 2006 for settling my mortgage not £99 so I claimed the difference. I received a cheque for £126 almost by return of post!
Not proceeding that fast with reclaiming bank charges though !!0 -
I took out a 2-year fixed rate mortgage with the Portman Building Society in April 2004 and redeemed it in June 2006.
When I redeemed the mortgage, I was charged a redemption fee of £199.
However, when I took out the mortgage I was informed that there would be no redemption fee after the early repayment period, which in this case ended in April 2006 - I still have a copy of the original terms and conditions.
I wrote to complain and within a week I was sent a cheque for £49, which is the difference between the charge we paid and the current exit charge quoted in terms and conditions of Portman BS mortgages being taken out now.
However, I am not happy with this as the correct fee should be the difference between the original fee (nil, or rather, the cost of administration so say £50) and the amount I was charged so I'm sending the cheque back and complaining to the Financial Services Ombudsman. Will let you know how it goes.0 -

Just want to send 168.7 kisses to Martin Lewis...THANKYOU!
Having paid off my mortgage in 2005, I applied for a refund for the difference between the initial MAEF (£35 in 1990) and my payment of £195.00 using Martin's template.
I have just been informed that a sum of £168.70p (£160 + £8.70 interest) will be paid into my bank account (:j yipppeeeee :j )
Cheers Martin & Crew :beer:0
