  • Woolwich have refunded me £180 + interest after charging £255 and not £75 as quoted. Only took 3 weeks after using your template. Thank you Martin I would never of known about this if it was not for your Website.:T :j
  • After my wife caught something on Breakfast TV about reclaiming mortgage exit fees I accessed this website, read through everything and last week sent a letter to Cheltenham & Gloucester asking them for a refund. I could not find any amount on the original contract but told them I thought it was £35 (according to Martin's list). They had stung me for £225 to redeem my mortgage last April so I claimed the difference, £190. To my joy, this morning I got a letter from C&G saying they are refunding the £225 in full PLUS £11 interest. Martin - you are a diamond.
  • I have a 'your mortgage questions answered' booklet from IF, published 11/01 stating that they do not charge fees for redeeming the mortgage early. I think the conditions changed in 2002.

Just called Halifax and got money back on three moves, all before the big increases came into force. Just £10 and £25 on the two most recent. On the 1980 - 1997 mortgage I wasn't expecting anything but it looks like they didn't put any MEAF into the contract so had no right to charge anything at all. So, I have another £40 on the way! Looks like it's worth going back further than the last 10 years. If you have had an old mortgage, it may not have said anything about a charge and you may be ale to get the lot back.
  • Just got off phone to Halifax - We paid £115 Mortgage Repayment Admin Fee. We are getting a £75 refund + £5 interest for the Mortgage Exit Fee (=£80 total) Chq should be :A winging its way to us within 30 days!!
This is better than I thought, cos the booklet we were sent whilst in our contract with them said we would have to pay £50 - so I thought that we would only be in line for the difference between £115 & £50 which is £65!!!!
I let them tell me what we were intitled to & did not argue when it was more than I expected.
    :T Whoopydoos!!! :T
  • Phoned C&G the lady was very nice and helpful gave account No they worked it out there and then how much they owed me cheque in the post.
  • Have claimed mortgage exit fees from Halifax plc successfully. Had been charged £175, received refund of £155. So easy, simply contacted them to request a form but it was all done over the 'phone
    What's next Martin?
  • Rang Woolwich per table - received £109 back . They transferred money electronically to my bank account.

A one minute phonecall to woolwich dedicated line resulted in £105 refund. No problems at all. Cheers for the info!!!
  • Be advised that they do not settle matters over the phone but send out a form for you to fill in.

Am awaiting receipt and shall tell all in due course!
