Thanks for quick response.
Am i right in thinking there would of been no exit fees involved in remortgages where we had released additional funds then?
Also how far back are these claims going?
Thanks again0 -
Got through on the Woolwich dedicated line this morning.
Mortgage started 2001 - exit fee £95
Sold house 2006 - final repayment charge £275
£201.53 to be sent by CHAPS in 5 working days (includes interest).
I LOVE this site! I'm telling everyone!
THANK YOU!0 -
Hi just phoned C&G /Lloyds on the numbers you supplied, excellent response, was over charged £90 in 2004 and with interest will be recieving £116, they are also looking into an older case from 2002 and will be advising me.
So thanks a lot, made a great start to my day and I am spreading the word.0 -
I've contacted Abbey regarding the exit fee for £225 they charged in June 2006. They've told me they will 'look into' and send me a form which will need to be filled out with all the relevant info because everything is archived. Lucky for me I don't throw anything away and still have my redemption statement. Anyone know what I can do about refunds from defunt Birmingham and Midshire BS?0

I like to change my mortgage regularly, going for the best deals available to me, usually fixed term. I have paid various building sociteties over the last ten years, at least 3, and wondered if I can try to re-claim my exit fees from each institution. Does anyone know if this is possible or is it just the most recent provider?0

Just rang Halifax and have £75 on its way to me - they charged me £150 after quoting £75 on my contract. It was no problem that i had no details of the mortgage cos i still had a bank account with them and so my change of surname (due to being married) wasn't an issue either. The cheque will be with me within 28 days
Also checked with Alliance and Leicester, but even though my exit fee was high, it was after Jan 04 and so was stated correctly at time of contract and also was charged correctly when I exited the mortgage.
Any £75 return for two phone calls is not bad at all!0 -
I just phoned Birmingham Midshires and they looked up our old account. The assistant filled out a form but wasn't able to say what we are owed. She said the form will be passed to the complaints dept who will then pass it to the relevant person to action. She said give it about a week.0

@Alison
You can sensibly go back to around 2004. Any increases in charges before that will be trivial. There's no reason why it matters how many times you switch.0 -
Last Thursday I telephoned the Barclays telephone number you listed about my old mortgage with the Woolwich and on Tuesday I received £232. Thanks Martin.0

thanks for the great tips, just phoned A&L and they are going to send out a form for me to fill in and look into it. I had no quibble from Halifax who are sending a cheque for £25.
thanks once again for this brilliant site and tip0
