Thank you! I have just received a cheque for £126 from Abbey National. We paid £225 Mortgage Repayment Fee when we switched mortgages. I followed the advice on the website and used your template and it worked! :T0

I called Britannia on Monday to ask them to check what I'd been charged when I left them for the Woolwich earlier this year.
The assistant didn't seem too clear and I spent a while on hold whilst she passed me around. However, when I said 'so should I send this in a letter' she told me not to worry and she'd handle it for me.
A couple of days later a letter arrived to say they were investigating and then on Saturday a cheque came through.
I'd been after £175 - the difference between the £50 originally listed as the fee and the £225 they charged me by claiming £75 for each of three sub-accounts.
What I got was £275 because they'd checked my records and also spotted they charged me £150 instead of £50 when I moved house in 2004. In the muddle of all the legal stuff I hadn't even realised that I paid that.
I called to say 'thank you' and the guy on the phone told me 'I'm not really trained to deal with people saying thank you - I spend most of my time being shouted at'.
Credit where it's due - they were fast and thorough and went beyond my expectation.0 -
:money: Saw the article in the email newsletter - wrote a 2 line letter to the Northern Rock as per Martins tips in what to say - we received a letter from NR within 2 days asking us to sign a declaration, indicating that we had been charged incorrectly by £55!!! returned the declaration, and we received a cheque 2 days later - FANTASTIC. (we left NR 2 years ago - we could not even find any reference numbers to our mortgage - they did all the leg work!):T :j0
