  • I took out a mortgage from C&G in 1999 and repaid it in full this year and, of course, was charged the extortionate Exit Fee. I followed your instructions in your Mortgage section and this morning have received a letter saying that a cheque for £175 (plus £2.25 interest) is in the post.

    Result!
  • Halifax -

Just rang to ask about my repayment admin Fee and have been told I'm due £135.00 in the next 28 days.
Many thanks to all on this site for the information and help.

    Don't forget though.. SAYNOTO0870

Phone nmber for Halifax is 0113 3809574; option2, then option1

    Good luck to all
  • Following on from my earlier posting yesterday when I contacted Kensington re. MEAF - I received this letter today:

Thank you for your recent compliant regarding a refund of your Mortgage Exi Administration Fee (MEAF).

We are currently considering the financial Services Authority's Statement of Good Practice issued on 26 January 2007 and aim to complete our review by 28 February.

Once we have evluated this matter in full, we will respond to your enquiry. I anticipate writing to you again in the early part of March.

    Yours Sincerely

  • Can anyone help me make sense of the exit fees from my Nationwide Mortgage?

I moved in May last year and moved lenders from Nationwide to Alliance and Leicester. On checking my old mortgage statement with Nationwide, it states a Redemption Administration Fee of £90 is payable if you leave. Looking at the statement from my solicitor it has Mortgagees Redemption Charges listed as £111.63. Is the admin fee?

I am assuming this is not the early repayment charge as it seems to low (this would have been £845 as of Jan that year) and the redemption of mortgage figure is listed seperately as £101393.94, so I am assuming the early repayment charges are included in that amount.

One last thing, I still have a Flex account with Nationwide, would they cancel my overdraft if I complain about the mortgage exit fee?

  • Just sent my letter off to Halifax, quoted £40 pound in 97, charged £75 in 2001 when we went to Alliance and Leicester. Hopefully £35 will be coming my way.
  • Hi everyone

Just following up from my earlier post - haven't seen any posts about Natwest success or failure - does anyone have any advice or was I the only person crazy enough to take a mortgage out with them in the first place?!!

I called them today and was advised that they haven't finalised their policy as yet but were happy to confirm that I paid £225 as MEAF last year. They wouldn't tell me over the phone however how much was in my original agreement but they have agreed to send me out a copy of this which will take about a week apparently!

    Thanks all :j

  • Ive just phoned the Halifax Wooliwch (both have a dedicated line regarding exit fees) both were able to find my details very quickly from my home address and within 5 minutes of each phone call the Halifax refunded me £ £25 and the Woolwich £100. Not bad for 10 minutes of phone calls!

Can anybody advise me on this one, when we set up with halifax in 1998 we also had to pay £768 as an additional mortgage security fee, can I claim any of this back?

Give the Halifax a ring there is a dedicated line for exit fees - they will be able to tell you very quickly from the details of the propertly involved whether they owe you any money or not.
