Cheque for £175 on its way in the next 28 days!
Thanks to the advice on MSE!!0 -
Have contacted Abbey, Woolwich, Nationwide, Alliance and Leicester.
Had to write to 2, one looking into it and the other refunding £44.66.
Not sure if there is a time limit but am going to go even further back, watch this space.0 -
I took a mortgage out with abbey in 99, changed it in Nov last year and was charged £225 for the privilege. Using the contact phone no provided by MSE, I phoned Abbey and was subsequently sent out a simple form, hey presto a cheque for 160 rips arrived yesterday!

hi has anyone had success with First Plus? I had a secured loan with them and when I paid it off earlier this year i shredded all my paperwork. I have contact the solicitor who dealt with my re-mortgage and they kindly provided copy statements for redemption and I see they charged me £150. i am not sure what I originally signed up for in 2004. i have called first plus and left 3 messages for them to call me back. I have sent them a contact me via their website, shich says they will contact you within 24 hrs and had nothing. I rang again on Friday and the holding time to speak to someone was 30 mins:mad: . I figured it could cost me more in phone calls than what i could get back.
On a more positive note my first charge was with Abbey and I checked teh redeption statement ad they charged me £225, but on a statement they provided 10 days prior to the one we used to redem on they charge £99. So I think they will have to cough up as I have it in writing 2 differnet charges :T0 -
It's very unlikely to have increased to £150 between 2004 and 2007 IMHO. It is probably unchanged.0

Hi i had a mortgage with the coventry building society and took out a 5 year Mortgage. I then split with my partner in the first year of the mortgage and had to pay the Building society £2500 charge for cancelling the mortgage early as we split and sold the house. So i'd like to know if this comes under the same terms of this Forum discussion. Please let me know. Many Thanx.

This would be an early repayment charge, which isn't covered by this and isn't repayable.Scott0
