Success!
Used the telephone for Halifax to reclaim £135 of the MEAF I paid at the end of 2006. Just rang up and gave them my Roll Number. I had the cheque within a few days. :j

Hi all..first post here so please forgive me if I have the protocol wrong!
I have mortgaged twice in the last 5 years; once from the Woolwich, and then a couple of years later from Standard Life. Unfortunately, I do not have a mortgage redemption statement for either of them.
What should I do now?
I have a solicitors redemption/charges letter that states the amount paid off to the Woolwich when I sold the house, and it does seem a bit steep (well over £500 from the original amount borrowed)
I do have the mortgage account numbers and the rough dates of when I took the mortgages on, but thats all...apart from masses of monthly statements from each
Any help would be much appreciated, particularly any info about Standard Life.
I see there is masses of successes on here from getting refunds from the Woolwich, so hopefully I should too...!?
Many thanks in advance, and TONS of thanks to Martin for providing this place for us...!0 -
Hi Bungarm2001,
I'm not sure about Standard Life, but I found it very easy to reclaim our final repayment charge from the Woolwich. I just phoned the dedicated phone line on 0800 0234 180. When I got through to the advisor I was just asked the mortgage account number, my name, date of birth and the address the query related to. He then told me what money was owing (£191 in our case!) and said that it would be paid into our bank account within the next 3/5 days. I was expecting to be asked for loads more info, but the conversation took less than 3 or 4 minutes.
I think you should definitely give it a go - I wasn't even asked if I had a mortgage redemption statement. GOOD LUCK!!0 -
I contacted Cheltenham & Gloucester this morning, gave them my old mortgage account number, name and a couple of questions later, I was refunded £143 from 2004 - this included interest. Many thanks, without your help Martin we wouldn't have even known about this.0

Hi All,
I rang barclays/woolwich today to try and get some dosh back, As i only had my woolwich mortgage for a year and a half the fee quoted was £95 and i was charged £95 when i sold my house.
So it appears that i can't get any money because the amount didn't go up within the term of my mortgage ?, has anyone else has this from a woolwich enquiry.
It appears that this may be the end of the enquiry, and i won't get any money back ?
All comments would be appreciated.
Great website
Thanks
Mark0
