Very possible, you would have made an application for further borrowing, it depends what the T&Cs were
  • :j I called NatWest today and requested refund of exit fee paid 18 months ago when I moved house, they advised me I paid £225 and should have been £100 so are refunding the difference to my account - easiest £125 I've made - everyone should do it!

Yes, this is correct. The information regarding the increased fee would have been in the tariff of charges you received.
    Hi All,

I rang barclays/woolwich today to try and get some dosh back, As i only had my woolwich mortgage for a year and a half the fee quoted was £95 and i was charged £95 when i sold my house.

So it appears that i can't get any money because the amount didn't go up within the term of my mortgage ?, has anyone else has this from a woolwich enquiry.

It appears that this may be the end of the enquiry, and i won't get any money back ?

    All comments would be appreciated.

    Great website

    Thanks
    Mark

Yes, that is correct, only fees which have increased from what was stated in your documentation can be reclaimed.

Hi, we took out a mortgage with the Abbey in around 1977, which we added to when we moved to our current house in 1986 (so that the mortgage still finished at the same time as the original one) Mortgage was added to by way of a couple of further advances around 1992, then finally paid off in January 2002.

Would be liable to a refund, and if so, how much could we expect? Would be have paid an exit fee for the two smaller amounts we had on 'further advances'.

I'm not sure if it only applies to mortgages taken out over the last few years!

    Any advice:confused:
:hello:  please play nicely children !

    Evening all,

    Existing mortgage was with Woolwich.

Well I spent 30 mins on hold waiting to talk to an advisor to enquire about reclaiming difference in Mortgage exit fee, after confirming my old mortgage acc no' etc, explained reason for my call and within 2 mins the very kind gent was advising me that within 3 days I would receive a total of £114.38 including interest, (How fab is that) no need to put in writing, this was sooooo simple.

Thank You Martin, without your site I would not of known anything about this. I'm just off to complete a bank charge reclaim with HSBC who's crippled my 19 year old son with charges. (wish me luck). approx to reclaim £1200

Ps:- could anybody please advise............my son took out a loan with Clydesdale financial bank for a set of wheels for his car, unfortunately he missed June pymt and they have hit him with £87.50 worth of charges for 1 missed pymt of £30.85. I have asked very nicely for them to refund part of the charges as gogw, to help my son out, but they point blank refused. Can I go down the same route as the bank charges claim with this bank???? they say I no chance of reclaiming these back (very smuggly I might add) not at all a very nice company to deal with.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

    Good luck everybody

I don't know the answer to be quite honest, I would suggest posting this query in the reclaiming forum. They're the experts on this sort of thing.
  • Called Nat west to claim, they said as i remortgaged before Dec 2005 i am not entitled to a refund, but did indicate i would have been able to refund if i hadn't remortgaged?? Not sure what to do now?
  • Hello

I have been doing battle with the valuation office since April, in an effort to get my home rebanded from a D to a C - they really don't make it easy but stick to your guns, people! I know I have a good case and I will continue to persue it.

In the meantime, I have just called the C&G to discuss the MEAF they charged me when I remortgaged to another lender last year and I am delighted to report there is now £125:00 PLUS £7:96 interest winging it's way through the cyber space banking world to my account as I type. They couldn't have been friendlier or more accomodating so I do recommend you at least make the call.

Now, back to the Valuation office.........gggggrrrrrrrrrrrr

Thanks Martin - this site and all the hints and tips are fantastic xx:T
