So, lbs and £'s are on the agenda now and the more I reduce on both the better I'll feel. Then woe betide (ha ha!) anyone who tries to talk down to me again! :p

Cheeky so and so!!! I really don't like the sound of this "friend" Muffin! You need people around you who are supportive and encouraging not de-motivating like this!

Good luck with both! I like the plan, anything that helps you to feel better in yourself is a good thing and I'm sure doing well in one will help spur you on in the other!

It's seeing the benefits and success of keeping this financial diary that has spurred me on to also add in food. I've now stopped binge buying so maybe I can stop binge eating. It's worth a try!

Well, superscrimpers is recording now so I'll watch that later. I enjoyed the first series, so hoping this series has some good tips and some amusing ones again.

I received a food diary from the people who do Shop and Scan today, and I've never seen such a huge amount of correspondence. Luckily I have some time to read it through before I have to start writing everything down. That's going to take some getting used to, but I know there are a lot of people on these forums who do it without any trouble, so I'm sure it'll be fine. Just a bit intimidating seeing that amount of pages to be filled in.

I enjoy the shop and scan, so I'm sure I'll learn to enjoy this too. Those points build up really fast too, especially as I send receipts in too. Just been awarded my receipt points for this week. I always worry the pictures are too fuzzy.

I've tinkered around with my spreadsheet today too, and once I get paid I feel I'm in the best position I've been in for a long time. There's room for a large over payment to the credit card as well as easily covering my normal bills and debts! On the one hand I'm so chuffed to be this organised but on the other hand I can see how much money I've wasted over the months/years. But, I've noticed it now and am commited to sorting it out and that's always a bonus.

For some reason I'm shattered today, so I shall have a nice hot shower and then bed.

Tomorrow I need to look into a PPI claim I may have for the old debt that was turned over to a debt collection agency which is now attached to my mortgage. It's the one that's around £6K (they didn't send me a statement this January like they normally do so i can't update accurate figures).

I also need to phone 02 and get my contract changed as my 24 month contract has finished and I haven't upgraded so the phone is paid for and the monthly payments need reducing.

So my list for tomorrow is:
    1. Look into PPI claims on the site
    2. Contact 02 to reduce monthly phone bill
    3. Measure and weigh myself
    4. Start decluttering dining room

    Onwards and upwards!

Have checked bank account this morning and still looking comfortable. I've also looked on the PPI reclaim section and I need to find documentation. I should be able to do that this weekend, so will add it on the to-do list for saturday.

I've got 1 more week until I get paid and have been going over my spreadsheet making sure I have everything in order. I need to get a little more organised with keeping track of exactly what I owe and what's been paid, so when the statements come in this month I'll update my iPhone app with those account details. Then I can add these details to my sig and keep that updated and visual for myself.

I'm not sure how worthwhile this is, but I've signed up to a proofreading website. It's free to join and you place free bids on work you want, so have put a couple of bids in. It's such a competitive industry and I have no real experience in this so I doubt anything will come of it. I'd just really like to earn a little extra each month from home if possible. I spend a fair amount of time online at home, and I have great touch typing skills from all those years ago when I was a secretary so I'm hoping I can use that time and skill to help me on this journey. If not, I'll rethink. I'm fully qualified in sports massage, holistic massage and aromatherapy although I get nervous about having strangers round my house as have had one or two incidents with a couple of male clients. Hmmm. Something to think about if I want to earn extra money to either bite the bullet and do home therapy, or learn something that's not quite so sensuous! I'm also qualified and insured in hot stone therapy, hopi ear and waxing. I've not done these for a while so perhaps a refresher course would be the logical first step and to add a few more strings to that bow.

I still need to phone 02, which I'll do after work today.
I did measure and weigh myself - eek! What a great motivation that was.

Tonight, when I get home I'll have a start on decluttering the dining room. Some people recommend putting aside 15 minutes a day for decluttering and doing those jobs that are difficult to motivate yourself for, so I think I'll take that tip and run with it as I can easily psyche up for 15 minutes.

    So:

    1. Contact 02
    2. 15 minutes minimum on decluttering dining room

I think the dining room may remain on the list for a little while!

It's surprising how motivating it is having a diary to answer to.

Tonight I have contacted 02 and reduced my monthly tariff by almost £20 a month without losing any functionality of what I currently use. I should have done that sooner, but it's all sorted now.

I've also been up into the loft and had a little look around at what needs decluttering and if I can see anything to hand to take pictures of for a big ebay boost. There's quite a bit up there so that should keep me busy when I get to it. That's likely to be this weekend.

I've not done much in the dining room so will add today's 15 minutes and roll them over to tomorrow.

I'll update my spreadsheet and add the savings onto my cc bill. I really want to get onto making over payments on my mortgage which is really pushing me to adding more money to the CC bill.

    Hey Muffy,

I really love reading your diary. You are really motivated at the moment and that spurs me on to keep going. :)

I like your 15 minutes everyday idea and I am (shamelessly) going to pinch it. I tend to do very little through the week as I get home from work, sort the DDs out and then collapse on the couch. Last night my backside hit the couch at 6.00pm and I didn't move til bedtime :o (apart from making a cup of tea)

What's a proof reading website??? Is it typing or just reading others work and checking spelling, punctuation etc???? Good luck with it, I hope you get some extra cash.

And your qualified in all that stuff too???? I'm most impressed :) Can you not just ask for female clients??? Or is that not allowed, there are blimmin rules for everything these days.

Hopi ear waxing?????? :rotfl: You'll have to explain :rotfl: I have hairless ears......I'm happy to say :)

Ha ha - I now have visions of poor women with copious amounts of hair coming out of their ears having it ripped out at the root by hot wax! Brilliant.

Hopi ear wax is basically a long specially made candle which slots in the ear and helps to remove a build up of wax naturally and in the most relaxing way. There's no pain or feeling of heat and it can be very therapeutic. It can help tinitus in some cases too (not all).

It's lovely to hear you're spurred on by my updates. I just have this feeling of momentum at the moment where the more I do the more I want to do. I'm starting to become so organised that it's making things easier too.

Oh definitely pinch the 15 minutes of declutternig a day idea. I got it from blatant theft from someone else on this site myself. That's just reminded me of a quote in the Shirley Valentine film, when she answers the question of who invented the wheel (when she goes back to school memories). She gets the question right and the teacher says "somebody must have told you" and she says "how the bleedin ell else would I have learned it? :D

I work in an office and I've never really felt that my job role fits in with my personality so I started training as a holistic therapist as it suits me more.

I could advertise for women only, but I think that advert itself would put off any woman wanting a massage? If I learn a few more beauty things then I can advertise mainly within the female checked areas.

The proof reading site contains work like reading through for mistakes and grammar errors, but there's a lot of different jobs on there. I quite like the look of the typing jobs as that's my strong point.

I've arrived into work with an email stating I've sold a board game for a whopping £35.00! Woo Hoo to that. So that's earmarked for the cc when payment arrives. It's been up for sale for months so I'm really surprised that it's sold now. It's in immaculate condition so I'm sure the buyer will be very happy with it (and it is quite rare which is why it's so expensive).

I've got 4 films on their way to me from my DVD by post package. I normally only get 2 films at a time from them, but I have a few credits I want to use up this month. So, at some point this weekend I can kick back and will have no feelings of wanting to go out. I will need to do some shopping but other than that I have a growing list of indoor weekend chores and some relaxing film time too. I think this is the last month I'll stay with this particular company as I've found a cheaper alternative.

I've also been given a voucher for a weekend break so need to book that this evening. It's a birthday treat from my Mum as I like going away for my birthday but wasn't sure I could justify it this year. It's a great deal in a beautiful hotel so I feel very lucky. I'm quite open with my Mum about my frugality as she lets me pull her along for the ride! I'm calling her network provider tonight to get her tariff reduced too.

    So my chores tonight are:

    30 minutes dining room declutter.
Phone 02 to reduce her monthly bill.
Phone and book the lovely hotel for my birthday weekend.
Package up the board game to send by special delivery tomorrow.
Update iPhone finance app with recent activity

I'm enjoying getting home to an organised chores list. I couldn't add yesterday's loft excursion on there as I dread going up there and have to do it on a spur of the moment thing. It never ceases to surprise me that I don't have a hairless mythical creature ready to pounce or a life size spider waiting for the loft hatch to release! I used to have an amazing light in there which would obviously be enough to scare away mythical creatures including giant spiders, but I can't remember what I've done with it. On my next brave loft trip I'll see if I can find it up there.

I'm just waiting for the discount sites to offer a days hire of a strong brave man not afraid of lofts for £25 !!!! :D
  • glad both outings went well!

Working in holistic therapies sounds good, you could build it up on the side, of your main job, you may build up enough to do it full time - nothing wrong with advertising for women only minimise the risk, or if you dont want to rule men out completely, just tell them you are fully booked until you feel ready.

I havent been online for a few days, was shocked at how much I had to catch up on, well done! :T

Thank you for the explanation Muffy :)

Well done on selling the board game. £35 is an amazing amount of money to get. :T

I haven't done 15 minutes of anything yet, apart from sit on my bottom :o Why am I so lethargic at the moment, it's not like me and I don't like it :(

And I'll go up in your loft for you if your paying cold hard cash, I'll beat all the other offers and do it for a tenner :rotfl: I have no shame :rotfl:
