Yesterday's boot sale was a bit of a wash out. It was so quiet that we decided not to sit in sub zero temperatures for 6 hours and will put things away safely until April, when we'll probably have to do one a week to get rid of what we find from now until then.

This weekend has been fairly productive though.

I have wandered around the house taking pictures of things I want to sell online.
I have listed a few more things on amazon.
Finished the weekend housework including 3 loads of washing.
Did some shopping for the week which came to a grand total of £7.79.
Looked through the cupboards and freezer to make sure everything gets used - to save spending more.
Received my energy company cheque so will put that into my account in the morning.
Found ANOTHER DVD player to sell :o
Scanned, uploaded and emailed receipts to s&s.

Having a quick look around and there is SO much to go onto eBay. I'm fairly sporadic with selling through them and, as I have so much already to list, I'm not sure if I should put them all up now, or just wait for a free listing weekend. They tend to do around one a month and I'm in no panic to get things on so maybe it's more frugal to just keep taking pictures and wait?

I'm also trying to get out of the mindset of just wanting to own things that I never use and never will. I feel I'm chipping away at that though so I can already see progress. Hopefully getting rid of things and getting money back will set up momentum for me.

I felt like the first couple of weeks to January were my snooze button but am feeling more energetic again now to get things moving. Brilliant feeling.

I hope everyone is having or has had a great weekend.
  • Hey Muffin,

Shame about the car boot but April sounds like a good idea when people are out and about a bit more!

You've had a mega productive weekend! Well done, If you are starting the bids at 99p you can put them on for free anytime, I've worked out its easier to not to have to post a tonne of stuff on one day so depends if you have time to do all that?!

Glad you're feeling so positive especially in January!!!

  • They do get really busy when the sun comes out so you should do well if April is as nice as last April!
I get what you mean re ebay, I have a drawful of little bits to add, I get started then stop after 2nd of 3rd item and it can be weeks before I consider starting again - but as londongirl said as long as you start item for 99p or less its free to list x

Thanks LG. I'd completely forgotten a 99p start was free listing. Most of the stuff I have is low value so 99p is fine with me.

Yes, I agree. I think it was a potential mistake and it was absolutely freezing. Who wants to get up early and off to a boot sale in that weather? :D

Knowing the listings of 99p are free I'll set those up. I'm usually a fits and starts type of person, but I'm going to push through that and get things on regularly. Decluttering my home will be such a worthwhile job. x

Today has been a pretty average day. I blew the budget!:o But I don't have many days like that, so I'm ok with it. I stuck within my allocated £10 so I'm still on track.

I bought toast for lunch and then met up with a friend of dinner (pizza) and it's all gone. On food!!!! Bad. I did take my lunch into work and eat that though, so there's a saving in there somewhere ;)

Right, I'm off to hunt through for more amazon and ebay booty!

Today is looking good so far for an NSD. I need to check my bank account and update my iPhone app, but once that's done I don't need to worry too much about finances today.

I was going to be having a meal out this evening with a friend, but for various reasons we've decided to put this off for another week or so which helps because I'm having a day out with another friend and our central meeting point is in London. She's not really an MSE'er and does like a drink so we tend to pub crawl around. I only have soft drinks or water but even those are still a silly price. She mentioned visiting one of the museums which I jumped at as that will take up a reasonable amount of time, be a lovely day out avoiding the pubs and costs nothing to enter. I'm still trying to decide if I should cycle into the City and then public transport from there, or just use public transport the whole way. Hmmmm! The cycle dilemma is more exercise than money saving if I'm honest. I could park in work and have a quick shower before heading off into the depths of London.

I'm remembering and making the effort to bring my lunch in more often these days and I've found my answer to sandwiches (as I'm pretty bored with them at the moment). I cooked some meat free mince with lots of crispy stir fry type veggies and added a bolognese sauce. I then threw as much as possible into a tortilla style wrap. It's so filling and I don't get the bloating I get with standard bread and bought sandwiches. So a double bonus!

Right, off to check the bank account now.
  • Hope you have a nice day out with your friend! Bike if you can be bothered!!

Love that tortilla wrap idea, I might try it!!

  • sounds good - make the museum last as long as poss, less money spending!

That wrap sounds nice, I used to take left over spag bol into work, warmed it up in a microwave, also cupasoups with added croutons that Id buy seperately, or crackers with cream cheese, tuna salad, left over pasta bake, chicken wraps when there were leftovers from sunday dinner etc....I could never resist the 3pm chocolate though! x
