Hi Muffy,
Where have you been???? Hope you're okay
Good luck with the mortgage. I can't wait to get rid of all my debts so I can start on the mortgage but I have a sneaky suspicion that my mortgage will come to end of term roughly the same time as I'll have paid my debts

Thanks freeby. It'll take some doing but I have a couple of obscure plans to help me on my way. I'll keep it updated here, but my priority does need to be getting that cc off the list fast.0 -

Thank you LG. It's nice to hear that. You all do help in so many ways that aren't obvious. I was going to say in ways you can't realise, but I know you all do. The support on here is second to none and such a lovely place to be on this journey.0 -
So, yesterday I made a phone call to my previous energy company as I'd had the letter that I was in credit when I moved from them, but they never actually sent the cheque they promised. Fortunately the fella who answered just said "oh yes Miss MuffinTops, I see here that the cheque hasn't been cashed so we'll get a new one straight out to you" so I was really pleased that it was so straightforward with a decent person on the end of the phone. So a £22 cheque is winging it's way to me now.
I also expect my Amazon booty money to hit my account today, so another bonus which will be moved to the CC when that arrives. I've also arranged to do a boot sale on Saturday. There's a lot of boot sales close to where I live and this is a new one I'm trying. This one is on concrete so it'll be nice to sit on a steady chair rather than wobbling all over the place. The weather is looking good and I have lots of old stuff to go so clearing clutter and earning money for it will feel very motivating.
I set all this up as January is generally so difficult for me to get through. Last year I literally caught up with the extras after my April salary and it really made me miserable. Where I kept to my Christmas budget and moved my early December salary out of my account until my usual pay day (which stopped me impulse spending on lots of things) I started the year on a much more positive note, meaning the extras I'd set up can just go on paying the Credit Card.
Unfortunately I missed the free ebay weekend as I wasn't prepared! Eek! They used to let us know on the Thursday that there would be a free listing weekend, but I didn't get the email until Saturday morning! So, this weekend I'm going to go round and take photos of the things I want to sell on ebay so that I'm ready and waiting.
Right, I need to do some work now and also catch up on other diaries at some point today. I'm also meeting my old boss for lunch which I'm looking forward to. We have such a strange relationship, but it's a very good one overall so it's always lovely to see him. He also always insists on paying (I never get much as I know he won't let me ever pay) so another NSD very likely today.
Have a lovely day everyone xx0 -
Hi Muffin - just had a quick read through your diary!
Just wondering if you could / or would consider cancelling your overpayment on your mortgage for a couple of months, to clear the CC quicker and then get back to overpaying the mortgage? Just a thought - not even sure if its possible to change mortgage payments?

I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!0 -

Hello Nats,
Thank you for popping in and for the advice.
The OP's on my mortgage at the moment are just based on what I was paying when I had a fixed rate mortgage, so I've not bothered updating the Direct Debit since then. Normally I'd completely agree to defer those OP's as my interest rate is a lot lower on mortgage than on CC, but as my CC debt is quite small I have a plan to pay it off in the next few months anyway.
It's a psychological thing for me too that I overpay my mortgage0 -
thats brilliant re your credit cards, 3 paydays will fly by!!
Sounds like a good plan re your mortgage, There is actually someone on PAD thread -payment a day, who also overpays on mortgage, little bits £1 -£2 whatever whenever, Im pretty sure she found a calculator that works out how much interest you save yourself with each overpayment, really seems to spur her on! (excuse the hers, cant think of member name for the life of me!)40 to go0 -

Thanks DF, I am hoping that time will fly past. Normally I'm still catching up with Christmas spending so I have every confidence I'll be ok getting it paid.
Sadly, I have a interest saving calculator! I do love them as they're it's so exciting to see things in real figures. I'll have to find this spurred on "her"''s diary for that extra motivation. Thank you.l0 -
Yesterday was a bit of a non-starter for me as I felt awful all day. On the plus side it meant another NSD.
Today I'm feeling bright enough to be at work, so no moping around for me today! Yay!
On Wednesday I managed to sell an old DVD player for £15. I've not received my cheque from the energy company yet, although I don't expect to see that until next week. There's been a couple of other things but my fuzzy head seems to be gripping onto that information and won't let me retrieve it!
Oh yes, I've cancelled my gym membership today for one more eye watering payment. Then that's out the way. I also had a member referral voucher for them so I placed my order for a free pair of trainers. Hopefully they're winging their way to me as I type.
Plus, I called an leaflet distribution place at lunchtime on Wednesday and their advertising costs are really good. I was going to go out and distribute the leaflets myself, but I believe that to be a false economy as I want to come across as professional. I think seeing me hand out the leaflets and then meeting me in person regarding the actual business isn't going to do me any favours and may lose me some business in the long run. I'd also like to concentrate on the things I really need to do and hand that off to a company that charges well as I will need regular advertising.
Today won't be an NSD day as I need to do shopping and I'm meeting a friend for lunch for a drink. But that's ok as I've had 2 more NSD days this week. I think that makes 5 in total this month.
Next week I'm going to come up with a plan for cycling both ways into work. Not only will that save me missing the gym, it'll save me a fair amount on commuting fares too. I currently cycle home a few days a week, but I'd like to now become a cycling commuter rather than someone who cycles when they feel like it.0
