    Ok final post of the day:)

    I posted this post before to try and get it into my head how to eat normally. After counselling I realise that I use food as a coping mechanism and I may never be 100% intuitive.

    Intuitive eating
    • Remind yourself constantly that NO food will make you fat, as long as it is eaten in moderation. Moderation means eating when you are hungry and stopping before you are uncomfortably full.
    • Don’t feel obligated to clean your plate by eating every crumb.
    • Treat hunger as a friend, not an enemy and learn to use it as a guide to what, when and how much you should eat.
    • Pause in the middle of a meal or snack. Ask yourself are you still hungry?
    • Eat slowly and pay attention.
    • It’s not about worrying about what you should and shouldn’t have… It’s about eating what your body FEELS like.
    • The three rules to intuitive eating are: 1. Eat what you feel like eating 2. Eat when you are hungry 3. Stop when you are full.
    1. Routine works for me and I should stick to Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with either 2 or 3 snacks (it doesn't have to be rigid but it helps).

    2. Trigger foods - No matter how hard I try I can't keep trigger foods in the house. I now recognise my triggers and just need to plan for them.

    3. I need to be satisfied with my food otherwise I eat junk/creep into binge territory.

    4. Treats are good:D.

    5. Eat what I enjoy.

    6. Keep healthy snacks/tea to hand.

  • Munchin keep up the mindfulness, keep up noticing 'triggers' or 'signals' or 'flash points', keep up the recording here - keep up the progress. Because you are making progress m'dear.

    Hi Greying - thank you - I really needed to hear that today:).

    I made it out for a wee run this morning which helped lift the blues and allowed me to draw a line under yesterday.

    No bingeing or spending today - just very tired. I think an early night is called for :)

    Evening all:)

    Still very tired but I'm getting there:).

    I popped in Mr Ts today for a few bits and bobs. Nephew had 2 teeth out today so I had:o to buy him ice cream. I bought a bag of apples and stupidly didn't look at the price - £3.00:eek: - that will teach me for not checking prices. I also need to take out shares in whole earth peanut butter - I love it:). Total spends - £10.18.

    Last night I made goats cheese tartlets - ok there wasn't much baking involved but they were gorgeous (if I do say so myself:)). Puff pastry, red onion chutney & goats cheese - bung in the oven and hey presto dinner & lunch.

    I'm meeting some friends tomorrow at lunchtime and I had forgotten that I need to give a friend £10 as he had paid my Xmas dinner deposit. That means my purse is down by £20.18.

    I was checking my diary for events I already know about for Xmas -
    • w/c 25th Nov - 1 lunch with ex colleagues & 1 retirement dinner;
    • w/c 02nd Dec -1 Xmas dinner with running buddies;
    • w/c 09th Dec - 1 Xmas dinner with work;
    • w/c 16th Dec - 1 Xmas dinner running buddies & 1 Xmas carvery - other work colleagues.
    I have already paid for 2 of these events but I have to still pay for the other 4. I don't drink when I'm out now so that should save me a bit. I recognised that my ED stopped me going out and spending time with friends as I was always so worried about eating - now I try and embrace as much as I can. I still have to go out with my girlfriends but we haven't got a date set yet.

    Budget (Nov)

    Purse........... £21.95
    Alcohol days... 11/20
    SFD................8/21

    I really want to thank you for posting your guide to Intuitive Eating. As someone who struggles enormously with food I have found it to be a reminder and have now printed it and laminated it to carry around.

    You sound like you have made great strides - Im 46 and had a problem since i was 16 - so absolutely know how hard it is to beat. Really well done x
    I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
    Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
    I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
    When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Hi Molly41 - Thank you for dropping by and I really hope that the guide helps. It's really not easy is it but I know I'm not alone and having people like you and Greying popping in really helps so thank you as well.:)

    Morning world:D

    I've been up a wee while as OH is doing overtime today so he was up and away at 5am but he let his alarm beep for ages before he got up - hence I've been up for ages:(.

    My best buddy phoned me last night to apologise as she's been texting me for 2 weeks and then realised she was using the wrong number. Anyhow as a group of my friends all have birthdays in December she has suggested we all go to the Xmas market but as they all have kids it will be a trip up to the Xmas market a few drinks and home again for about 11pm - is it really sad that I think this is great:D

    I have another busy day ahead - you would think my counsellor had a point about me keeping myself busy:o. So I'm picking up my sister about 9.30 for a jog. Then I'm going to Pilates because I was doing the pilates when I couldn't run and it should keep me fit and injury free. I've got to go to the car parts place to get a new light for my car. I'm going to visit Mr Sainsbugs and I have an opticians appointment - phew i'm exhausted typing it all.

    Budget (Nov)

    Purse........... £10.86
    Alcohol days... 12/20
    SFD................9/21

    OH has given me £20 to cover some of the shopping. I still don't think £10.86 is going to cut it but it will just mean that I dip into my budget for Dec. It used to be that I couldn't do this as I had no savings or money left in my account at the end of the month but now I can. I don't want to go back to the previous situation of not having some money to fall back on.

    Ok finally I'm going to have to sit down and plan my Dec budget for my normal bits and bobs as well as entertainment for Dec and presents.

    Hi all

    I've just sat down with a cup of tea and my laptop and am watching the Brazilian grand prix qualifying - it's a bit damp.

    I managed to do everything today that I had planned. I also got trial contact lenses from my opticians. I've tried contacts so many times but my left eye just goes nuts. I've had these new ones in for 1.5 hours and so far so good. I only want them to wear when I go out so if I don't have any problems with the trial ones then I can buy a box which should last me a long time.

    Budget (Nov)

    Purse........... £5.18:o

    Ok I've been looking at the Dec budget which is going to be incredibly expensive as I have so many meals out so the plan is (subject to change:)) -

    Dec spends:xmastree:

    Food - £150
    Entertainment - £240
    Clothing - £80
    Exercise - £60
    Gifts - £250

    I have 8 events (dinners & nights out in Dec) which is why the Entertainment budget is so high. I want to buy some warm but nice tops for the winter and a pair of flat boots. I'm hoping not to spend all of the Gift budget. There may be further tweaks but I will see how it goes:D. My work Xmas savings is such a godsend at this time of year.

    Morning world,

    I've been to chapel this morning but have kind of sat down now and not got any further.

    I have a few things I'd like to do today -
    • clear out old dvds (ebay?) and tidy behind tv;
    • clear out clothes I never wear;
    • pootle round shops for something to wear for Xmas;
    • tidy room and do myironing.
    I've been to the shop this morning and after buying my Mum's papers and sausages for tea tonight (£5.17) I was left with precisely 1p in my purse. I've started the Dec budget early and withdrew £50 from the bank to do me this week.

    Budget (Dec)

    Purse........... £50.01
    Alcohol days... 12/20
