Was trying to connect my google account with my device, but when I tried to download an app, after signing in to google I got a message saying that “there are no android devices connected with this account”
I did read that the archos 7 tablet does not have full access to the android app market, and only has apps that are on apps lib, if that makes any difference
I would like to access apps lib, but I could live without it, my main problem is trying to get avi and wmv files to play (without having to convert the files first).
So I am going to try and download a codec pack from a link that johnnyboyrebel posted
And see if that fixes the problem

I see, that link is for a windows codec pack Im afraid.

try this

google "xda vital player"

goto first hit.

at the end of the first comment there is a link to download the vital player apk.*

download that, stick it on a usb/sd card and click to install onto your Archos, should be fine after that.

***Note... when you follow the link make sure you click "slow download" on the right side of the screen halfway down or it will try and sell you an account or pm me your email addy and ill just send it to you.

Oh yeah try qq-player as well. if you google that should be about the 3rd link to their website, you can download the apk direct from there.

thanks steven, have downloaded qqplayer on my laptop and tested that it works, but am having trouble transferring it to the archos, th SD slot is for a micro SD card and i only have normal sized SD cards.

and i dont own a usb stick, (might be able to borrow one from work) but even if i did there is no usb port on the archos device, the only outputs are 1. to charge it 2. for headphones 3. usb data transfer cable
i have tried to transfer the files onto the archos via usb but cannot get the exe file to run.

Ahhh, hang on, it shouldnt be an .exe, it should be a apk. did you download the androidqq-player?

hi i downloaded the qq player from qqplayer.com/english (4th on the list when i googled it)

can you email it to my gmail account if i pm you

and can i install it from accessing the mail from the archos, or do i still need to install it onmy laptop and tranfer it over?

just also downloaded vitalplayer.apk and transferred the file to my archos, then tried to install on the archos and got a message "vital player cannot be installed on this phone"

yeah no problem,,, just a thought, have a look at settings - Applications- and make sure "unknown sources" is ticked, otherwise your tab wont let any program instal unless its from the "market"

success at last... (well sort of)

hi, just managed to install qqplayer on the archos, and it does play my avi files, but the lip synch is all out, and the video is a bit jumpy and the picture qality is a bit grainy,

is there anything else that can be done to improve this,

you can try settings - decoder mode - play with it I guess. If i think of anything else Ill post here
