hope you can speak to your parents soon GQ. It sounds as if it's being kept under control though.

People may be relieved to learn that I held off on the gooseberry glitter although I reserve the right to use it on a further festive occasion. The jam was very popular with my two children (who like gooseberries) and I have had to promise to keep a jar for them, so only 4 jars for hampers. Maybe I can get some more goosegogs from somewhere, I need another 4 jars!

Have Radio Jersey on in background and they did a big feature on it at 8.10 pm. Seems like they are having a controlled burn at Gas Place in the middle of St Helier and have cordoned off that area as there's a theoretical risk it could go boom.

Lots of people are trying to get home and can't so they would be ones glad of having a bug-out bag in their car/toothbrush in the handbag like some preppers advocate. Pretty worrying for people with pets left back at home and kids were evacuated from some schools and can't go home.

 :pRuddy parents, take themselves off to somewhere safe and dozy and get a major incident in their near vicinity. Probably out getting a meal and have no idea what's going on. Been calling back and foward with my brother and getting supportive texts from a pal- we've cancelled the movie we were going to tonight as I'm not in the mood for it. Will stay online and see what is happening.

Had a bit of a cry but have rallied and am OK now. Thanks for your support ((((hugs)))).

Popperwell, thanks for posting the link, I was going spare surfing the news sites looking for it.

    Good news :T

Its dead easy to listen to radio on the net with broadband and hardly uses any of the allowance you are allowed, I do it a lot from around the UK and abroad. Sometimes its better than what we hear in the UK.

Usually you put the name of a station in a search engine, find the website and click on a button on the site and you'll hear the station...

Often the media exagerates and makes things seem worse.

Funny how plans can change without warning. Just a couple of hours ago you were treating yourself. Life...

Life is what is happening whilst we are making other plans, eh? Fortunately, I have cake (bought on yellow label) and am having that with water. Whooping it up.

Knew somebody whose Mum was flying out of NY on 11/09/11 and was airborne when the planes struck the Towers. Pal didn't know if it was her Mum's plane...........things like that give you grey hairs overnight.

Folks haven't called either me or Bro so are probably in holiday mindset and are not aware of what is going on or that we might know and be worried. Probably think best not to mention it.

Oooff, shan't be late to bed tonight, this has left me exhausted.

You can't really plan too far ahead...though most of modern life is taken up doing so thanks to the media or employers demanding your dates for holidays(if you can afford them)

Its all wishing your time away...and no guarantee when the future arrives you'll still be around(what a happy thought)

Look at this article making on how many perks pensioners get, considering the cuts that are coming and the low amount you are paid with State pension no wonder the Government still often has to top it up and bribe with a few perks which still don't really makeup for the shortfall. They give you it so late in life they hope you won't be claiming it for long...

    Thats so true Popperwell !

GQ hope alls well and your parents are sat having a lovely meal and are totally oblivious of the drama.

Arent people lovely on here, you ask something and they sort it ie, radio station for GQ, so kind.

Oh is driving me to distraction, as we are guessing he will be in hospital soon he is trying to finish all those little jobs and walking mud in the kitchen  in between naps that is. Glad they found the Higgs Bosun thingy cos otherwise he would want to sort that out too:rotfl:

Never mind the cost of sugar, I went to buy a new mop today, both mop and bucket have died probably due to the heatwave (sarcasm alert) so I thought well I will get one of those twisty ones that dont need a bucket - well, yes, if I sell the car and invest in a mop. So I bought the cheapest one in Mr M after wandering round other shops ...a fiver .... and its a basic one, no bells, no whistles, nowt  I did see an old fashioned shiny metal mop bucket in the hardware shop, I didnt ask the price in case OH fainted.

Am making a bouquet for my Dd's birthday tomorrow, 2 bunches of flowers for £5 in Mr M and a bit of cellophane, must have saved £20 at least and it is really easy - its one of those mystery things that trained people do to make you spend lots and lots :)

aw sorry GQ about dumping that on you - I posted then we went shopping.. never thought to put a link in, had just read about it on the bbc site.

When your parents get back to their hotel and you speak to them they will most likely ask you why on earth you didn't go out as they are fine - as they know they are but of course you don't unless they tell you....

In future will make sure I include links, poor you, you must have imagined the worst, but if they really felt there was a chance of it going major boom they would evacuate the island not just the streets around the gas fire.

    Hugs and Love xxxxxxx

GQ:- you are probably right about the holiday mindset. We were once in Budepest when they had riots. Lots of phone calls from worried DD's the next morning! The daft thing was we were just down river from the Parliament building and saw lots of flashing lights, but assumed that the bridge we were looking at was enroute to the local hospital! :rotfl:
