    Hi all

Have managed to keep up with all of the posts. There have been some real words of wisdom on here. During my career I have had the honour of caring for many people in their final days and hours. I agree that people often seem to wait until their nearest and dearest have popped for a coffee or to the loo etc. I also know that sometimes the professionals hands are tied when it comes to dealing with these situations but my experience is that they do the best they can with the resoures they have.

Whatever happened with my thanks key on Friday has resolved its self. Not sure what happened there as I always stay logged in but thanks for all of the suggestions.

Have got to the bottom of the mysterious indentations in one of the veg beds when I saw sparrows having a dust bath in it this afternoon. Have been to the lottie today and planted a few rows of dwarf french beans. We have taken on the overgrown lottie next to our current one. Its full of ivy, brambles and bindweed. Have had to spray it and cover it over with tarps. We do not ususlly spray weedkiller but there is so much bindweed it was our only option.

Roast chicken for tea tonight followed by pavlova with homegrown strawberries, raspberries and what I think are tayberries. Then going to the theater later with both DD's to see one of DD1's friends in Billy Liar (am dram so cheap).

I had to work when the tourch came through our town but watched it on the live link on the computer at work. Saw Mr VP and both DD's who had a really clear view from where they were. They were able to relocate to the other end of the road whilst it did a circle and they were able to see a second swop over. They were also shown on the local news that night.

Need to get the ironing finished before tea so had better get a move on.

    Mrs VP
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

Well, I won't complain about that;)thank you. Still don't know where my screen name came from as on the internet I use another name on most websites.

    Mrs VP,
Your meal sounds nice and a lovely night at theatre...enjoy.
I lost the thanks facility for a short time earlier today but all is well again. I have no idea why it happened or how it corrected itself.

I agree about some professionals being restricted by rules and a lack of money/staff shortages but our problems were both un-neccessary and caused a lot of stress at a time we did not need it. Difficult times for all.

One of the hardest things strangely to get used to is changing everything into my name and cancelling pensions and bank accounts that have Mum's name on them. Once you do that it's as if Mum never existed because there is very little left with her name written down. Especially, if you then get rid of old bills etc...

How nice to have a gentleman posting, and by your posts you are very organised especially in the food department. You are right about living in the 30's I often feel like that but we will keep soldiering on :)

OH is having a bad day and has slept a lot and feels odd. Have checked and re checked he has had all his meds so havent a clue. Just made him beans on toast - he loves simple food - and a kitkat as a treat along with an ice cold can of shandy, if that doesnt work goodness knows what will :) Ds arrived home this morning after a rare night out at a leaving do' so he is snoozing peacefully away. Had a nice calm day (apart from worrying about OH but thats par for the course) looking forward to wrapping up in a blanket and knitting the night away.

    Thank you Ginny:)
Hope your OH soon feels like himself and stops causing concern.

A treat is nice and to do something different is always welcome but we all tend to just potter around and do the same things don't we? Often we have no choice:rotfl:

It's a lazy Sunday, I've only myself to please, the weather isn't nice but not having transport where am I going to go? Public transport is more or less non existant, taxi's are expensive(example £12+ for approx 7 miles one way)

You are probably too young but there was a funny Hancock's Half Hour where everywhere is closed as it's Sunday, he is bored and not too keen on the Sunday Lunch he's been served up. He has had a lie in and is really just waiting for it to come around to bedtime again.

It's much the same even in 2012 and usually all you have open these days are garden centres and supermarkets.:p

It's not too warm so I am under the duvet listening to a music programme playing the old easy listening type of music from the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's.

I'm not as hungry as I used to be but eat well when I do, just eat when I feel like it...

I may have a couple of cherry scones and a coffee and my main meal later in the evening.

Hope I don't sound miserable. I always used to be very happy/upbeat and sociable but circumstances can change what you do. As you said we keep soldiering on...

No more miserable than I do waffling on about my shopping trolley knitting/crochet, kids, DH fishing and dog ;)

It is true that we do just potter on sometimes. I see myself become a recluse in the holidays when I don't have to do the school run. I don't get ready properly, tie my hair back and don't bother with any make up. I see my own enthusiasm take a nose dive and I bet I'm going to struggle in the 6 weeks holidays. I like to be busy and have my routine. I keep thinking i'll take the kids on the bus somewhere but I'm always put off by the cost.

    Welcome sunshine. :)

Popperwell, I still have a box of my grandfathers paperwork that I have decided to keep. If nothing else it will be good for the kids to look back at bills etc and see how prices have changed. Its also very strange to see old phone bills pre BT etc.

Ginny - has the weather changed or is it due to change, it could be that your OH is responding to weather pressure changes. Hope he feels better later. :)

When the torch passed through town and I didnt go, I did wonder if it was wrong of me not to take the kids but I was required in school to support DS8 and he would not have coped with it all. Therefore no-one went.

Have been busy again here retaking the house, Ds14 was also persuaded to build my mini greenhouse - which I bought ages ago but have never got around to putting up. DS has built it and I have put the purple sprouting broccoli plugs in after splitting into individual pots. (15 plugs £1.99 in ald!)

Has rained all day so washing all over the place and some in dryer - and now the sun comes out!! Typical.

Being very disciplined and getting meat out of freezer for meals in time saving me from needing to go shopping which has helped, this week is bill week and there was not enough money in bank to cover all - quite simply the length of OHs absence from work has depleted our meagre savings. I have swapped some things around a little but it means we have no money until Thursday so I have got to be very careful.

It does put me in a quandry though, when I took Ds8 to school friday they gave me a letter for a trip this week, it needs paying by tomorrow. I was also told I had to attend in order for him to go - now this brings several issues. Firstly I am supposed to attend a funeral that day (feels like deja vu!) to support my mum (its her best friend and someone wh has always been very supportive of me). Secondly whilst I want to support school I am not sure I am comfortable with the idea that I have to attend. Finally, I actually cant pay - no money at all until Thursday without resorting to my dad.

Grrrr!! I hate these decisions because whatever I do I cannot win I reckon its going to some down to which one means I lose least!
