Hope you enjoy your induction smiley I'm sure you will :)

DH out fishing today so it's just me and the kids. Showers due but I'm wanting to go weed more of the front garden to get some more fruits in there once DH paid. Blueberry is top of my list as I've heard they bare quite a bit of fruit. Blackcurrents are turning darker... it's very exciting.

I have finished stocking stitch knitting one leg warmer but now need to learn how to rib stitch the top. It's certainly not easy knitting but I am enjoying it. I have to stitch the seems mind you, I couldn't get at all used to circular needles.

Cottage pie and carrots for tea with rhubarb crumble and custard for afters. Some washing/ironing and a big sort out of the kids' craft cupboard/games cupboard in the kitchen. I say cupboard... they're occupying 3

Also bought a beige woollen long cable knit skirt from Primark yesterday. It cost £2 so thought worth a punt. I don't like it long so going to lop off the top, hem it and get some knicker elastic around the top. No one will ever know. My grandma knitted my school uniforms when I was little. I'm very used to knicker elastic waistbands :rotfl:

:)Fuddle, knitting rib is easy-peasy. Even I can do that and I'm no great shakes as a knitter. Just knit one, purl one, chanting quietly to yourself if necessary.:)

Gawd, that will be my luck. Think some netting will be a good investment. I wonder if DH has any old fishing nets in garage. Hope so.

MrsL dawg is in the porch. I've just sat down with a cuppa and he scratched my arm to play. I play with him throughout the day but he's wanting more and more. Hopefully he'll soon get the message that attention seeking like that will get him time out. He's whining, it's awful but I have to keep my resolve don't I?

Oh that's easy GQ but bet I get muddled up. I will need to chant :o

Fuddle - be careful using fishing nets - birds can get their feet caught in them and die :(

  • Stay strong FUDDLE - at this age they are like needy toddlers, and the whining is just because he can't get his own way, bit like a tantrum! If he keeps scratching you, spray him ,it is just that he needs to know his place in the pack and you most definately need to establish yourself as the Alpha leader, won't take long but be prepared for him to be persistent. One trick is to pretend to eat from his bowl, in his full view, before you feed him. In a wolf pack the alpha dog always eats first, and don't let him always be in the middle when you walk him, again the alpha dog is always at the centre. You'll get there and it won't take all that long Have a good Sunday Cheers Lyn xxx.

Morning all, and big ((hugs)) to all in need.

I am feeling a little bleary this morning after my evening with NCT ladies - it was very civilised and I only had one glass of wine (and lots of HM cake) but I am not used to the late nights!

The DDs were up bright and early this morning - we are supposed to be going to see the Olympic Torch a bit later as it's passing nearby so I'm going to have to summon my energies for that. DH is still sleeping which makes a change as he is normally fishing on a Sunday (Fuddle - good to know I'm not the only fishing widow!). Hopefully he will emerge soon...

I'm itching to do something creative again, and would like to do some crochet. My mum has taught me the basics, but all I've made so far are a selection of doll-sized cot blankets for the DDs toys. I am wondering about making a tea cosy, as it's not going to be too big a project. Would that be too ambitious for a complete beginner? The alternative is to make lots of squares and sew them into a blanket - do you think that would be better for a first-time project? All advice gratefully received. (I really wanted to make a string bag but my mum said it would take forever and I would need to have a bit more practice before I would be ready for that...!)

Oh I don't want the birds to get hurt. Thanks for telling me.

I saw you post yesterday about being a fishing widow Evie I was on my phone and meant to post about it (solidarity and all that lol) but completely forgot when I got home :o

Here's a selection of tea cosy crochet patterns on ravelry (addicive that site is!) http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#craft=crochet&query=tea%20cosy&view=captioned_thumbs&availability=free&sort=best

It's crocheting in the round and once you have the hang of it, it's easy peasy... go for it! :D Blanket squares is also a good idea but a labourious project when you're starting out... if you're anything like me you want some gratification and quickly. A pile of squares that you have to then stitch together might just be a bit tedious when starting out. Just my view though, and I wouldn't take owt I say as gospel - I'm tuned to the moon :rotfl::D

I'm so pleased. I have predicted my gas usage for the month and it's down to £30. Not brilliant as it's only based on hot water but a lot better than it has been. That leaves a big chunk of the direct debit to pay the arrears.

Electric is at £33 for the month. Still below the direct debit but not much. Going to have to put that up for over the winter I think :( I have saved £10 compared to last month though so that frugality with the tumble dryer is seeing positive results. Must try harder though.

Oooh thank you for the link Fuddle, I shall enjoy having a look through those!:T I'm also guilty of wanting speedy results (no patience at all, me!) - which is why my mum has deterred me from the string bag idea (she knows me too well!).:D

Feeling very bleary now - time for another cuppa (and maybe just a little peek at crochet patterns!)
