You can see how someone who is vulnerable could be taken in...its a business but an hour before Mum's funeral the Coop phoned trying to arrange an appointment to see me about Mum's estate. Mum wasn't even out of the world.

    SmileyT,
Within as little as approx 16 weeks I willl be dropping below the threshold. In a year most will be wiped out! No luxury spending just on ordinary living costs. And being thrifty. It will be mainly used for CT and rent. With utility bills and food close behind.

Before those working get upset and say they are being hit. I feel it for anyone struggling to pay bills and keep a roof over their head so I am not saying I am a special case.

There is a lot of uncertainty and worry for many in the months ahead.

I think many of us are fearing the changes coming in soon. Wether you rely on ESA/IB/HB/WTC/CTC, everyone seem to be feeling very insecure. I do think that the rhetoric coming out of Downing street and being spread by the media is frightening lots of people. Even those of us who are trying to prepare for worsening times are feeling disheartened and looking around, it's hard to find a voice for the ordinary people. Thats why sites like this are so important, A:- so you know you are not alone, B:- so we can support and help each other. So keep it up everyone, every tip, link to recipes, and downright nonsense is greatly needed. If only for the giggles alone!!!:rotfl:
Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”

    Morning Meme30,
I don't know why the media is ignoring a lot of what is happening or "Going along with it" They are making things worse by fuelling it showing the few that do "fiddle" and then those with little or no knowledge of the system see everyone that way.

What Downing street says is biased of course because they have an agenda and policies to promote, so it is spin. That would be so whoever is in power.

And what you say about here and most who use MSE is very true.:)

I should say that I find most I talk to if we get onto this talk and think "Our" way but it is as if the moderate views that we express are kept out of the papers or off the air but that's probably because the more vocal amongst the population are liked by the media because it causes a reaction.:p

The trouble is the Drip, drip, drip effect eventually is believed by some and often opinion is believed as fact.

I see you are in my county so I guess you are having the bad weather again. Not very nice for Fuddle's long walk this morning:(

I will try and walk to the surgery for my blood tests later but if it really stays like this I may have to give in and take a taxi...

We'll see what today brings, hopefully good things for us all...

Morning, I am up ready for a visit to dr with my list! I am still having pains around the kidney area plus a few other things. I feel awful that I have a list but need to check a few things like my poor memory now...probably something simple, but need to mention it.

Raining here, great for my plants of course, but so miserable otherwise. Have dentist appointment later today, so fun, fun, fun...:rotfl:

Interesting about the PM's change of mind about the referendum, recently did a survey asking that question...so wonder how many people said they wanted one! (hence his change of mind).

Downing St has a devious propaganda dept - whichever party is in power - to manipulate public opinion and they use the press to do that. I'm just hoping that this lot will cut money & living standards so much for so many ordinary working people, that the tide will turn. When a huge number of ordinary voters realise how it feels to be dependent on state help that is suddenly withdrawn through no fault of their own, then hopefully things will change.
Just now they're dividing us all into factions - the sick; the unemployed; the under 25s; and next is to be people with larger families and after that anywhere outside the south east/London. So while we're all busy separating ourselves into clumps and looking down at all the other clumps - they bring in more cuts. It's contempt... and its reciprocated in spades from me :D

Thank you, Mardatha, for mentioning the larger families thing... we're one target that it's always OK to let fly at! Mine are all just about grown up now but when they were younger I got quite used to have complete strangers commenting negatively about dole-scrounging layabouts & how they paid their contributions so I could sit on my FA all day and stuff my free 8-bed council house with yet more kids, sometimes literally shaking with righteous D*ily M*il-fuelled anger... it always came as a complete shock to them to be told that Him Indoors worked full time, I worked PT, the only benefit we got was child benefit and we paid a mortgage on our fairly-modest home like anyone else! We know we'll be next in line - we're an easy target.

Still waiting to hear exactly how much we're in for, re the care home in Spain - Him Indoors is putting off telling me for all he's worth, and I don't want to press him at such a sad time, but something tells me that this is Not Good News...

    Morning All :)

Well we survived the baptism more or less intact. I did something to my back on Saturday and had to be practically lifted out of the car when I got to my PIL's house. Then DS1's good clothes had mysteriously disappeared from the bag he packed, so we had to go shopping for new ones. I made DH go shopping with him and I went around the shops with DMIL. I spent £19 in the charity shops, but got a lovely A-line pink and white skirt, a hand embroidered top and a black and cream maxi dress. I also spent £1.50 on the fruit and veg stall and got 3 hugre mangoes and a massive bag of plums.
It was nice to catch up with people again and to meet the baby for the first time.

Today I was going to go into town to see the torch, but I forgot that DS2 is paintballing with school and by the time he is home and we get into town we will have missed it. Also I'm not in the mood to stand in the rain for a few hours. I need to make cake to take to knit and natter tomorrow as we are having a tea party to raise money for Macmillian. I'm thinking about plum crumble cake or a plum jam tart. One of the knit and natter ladies is a fantastic cook, so there is a bit of me wanting to impress.

I think I need more tea first. Take care everyone xxxx

I'm back, on more antibiotics and another med, will review in 2 weeks and in the meantime have to fill out a questionnaire thingy for my poor memory and also plans to arrange the for a dementia test. He did say depression can mimic dementia and if there was a choice, he'd prefer that scenario...you and me both I thought. :( I've been putting it off and putting it off, but I am aware that I am not depressed (take enough meds not to be ), but I am stressed so could be that, but I have a little stab of fear.

Said to continue to use SAD lamp even now, and no point in taking blood to check for vit d levels. I was hoping he'd prescribe vitamin d!

Hope the anti biotics work as I feel so rough. :o
