    Happy Birthday Byatt

It's a day for birthdays. I'm off later with family in tow to niece's 1st birthday party. I shall be immaculately dressed as SIL's friends are all in their late 20's early 30's and quite snobby  I'm not in the mood for that so I'll show the b*ggars ;) DH will no doubt laugh about taking my knitting, shopping tolley and rubber soled slippers :rotfl: I shouldn't hide who I am but sometimes it's easier to pretend than fight against the grain.

Some news. Pink-winged the board guide has said a new thread isn't a problem. Don't worry, all that will happen is she will set up a new one and do it properly, with links to all the old threads - there's loads going way back. I couldn't find them all so didn't get to do it properly when I started this one. She'll lock this one sometime this afternoon but all we do it jump on our new thread. :) I think this thread (correct me if i'm wrong) has survived without being ticked off, locked or removed and that is testament to all of us who use it. A lovely bunch of people huh? Here's hoping some lurkers will come join us on the new one and we get to extend our family. I do love it on the tougher threads.

Don't worry everyone, it will be exactly the same, we just post under a new title. PAH I told pink-winges about your idea for the make do and mend title, so everone look for a new title that says something like "as it gets tougher we make do and mend" later on this afternoon. I hope you're all ok about it.

Popperwell, we're all about politics really aren't we. Don't worry about posting stuff about it. I was just being a flake the other day. :o

I felt quite chuffed last night - DS2 is only allowed tv on Fridays, up to 7pm (because it sends him loopy & then he gets aggressive with DS1 & me :-( ).

So we got in from school & he got changed quickly & had a snack while I got changed, & we snuggled on the sofa to watch Nanny McPhee together - DS1 stayed at the computer desk but put it on standby to watch too. Then I cooked dinner - DS2 wanted chip shop chips, but having rested, I was able to resist this, & did pasta, veggie sausages & veg.

My resolve was aided by DS1 having done as he was told during the day at home & washed up, so I didn't have to fight to find the kitchen...

Had a text later from the parents in law to say they're not coming to see us today. Again... So I didn't do any more tidying in the sitting room, but went & gave the sinks a (much needed) scrub, & got the hot white load ready to put onto wash this morning.

It doesn't sound like much when I type it, but it was a big deal for me! I haven't done my WFTC update yet, because I'd misplaced the letter, so I need to do that this weekend, & sort about DS1's CB continuing while he's at 6th form. Without getting too stressed about his contingency plans being non existent, & the knowledge his results won't be what they would have been if Errant Husband hadn't left...

    Happy Birthday

Just got back with the dogs and its raining again :(

I am stuck in the house all weekend as we can't get in or out due to the air show traffic. Having listened to planes practising this last week I have had enough by the actual show. It makes me mad to think of all the people who are struggling and they are throwing this airshow which loses money for the sake of good PR

If I start baking I will eat it all before its cooled down :rotfl::rotfl:

    ummmmmm what to do?

Happy Birthday Byatt! Sending you a lovely warm piece of this banana cake I'm making with a sparkler on top.
It rained here all night I think but we appear to be clear at the moment. My parents are visiting so we're going to pop out and stop for a cuppa at DH's parents later.
A scrummy brunch of bacon, sausage and egg baguettes cooking here, I'm hungry!

Hi Spiky :) The little boy I used to work with when I worked in schools used to call me Nanny McPhee:eek::rotfl: Pleased you're feeling positive about being home with your loved ones. It make such a difference when things run as they should.

Very windy here pic we're going to Seaton Carew (Where the Darwin's lived who pretended he died whilst canoeing in the sea and lived abroad with the insurance money.) with the dog and kids so we're wrapping up! Craaaazy in the summer.

Washing isn't going out as it's bound to rain soon enough.

Happy Birthday Byatt! I'm heading down towards you today for a meeting of my Guild, so our week-long massive clear-out is on hold until this evening. DH flies back in from Spain tomorrow evening & I want it all as neat & tidy as it can be to bring a smile to his face at what is otherwise a very sad & worrying time for him. Got Freecyclers picking various things up later, so I'd better go & wake DS3 and tell him where everything is that's to go!

    :j:jHappy Birthday Byatt!!!:j:j

Morning all! Sunny and showery at the same time here Chez Evie today - most odd and more like March than June. I will be continuing my anti-slug vigilante activities as all the showers are bound to bring them out of hiding. And I want the veggies more than they do.

It's the usual Saturday madness here. Have to take Big DD to her dance class later, and then tackle the ironing and all the housework I didn't get to yesterday. Such a rock 'n' roll lifestyle :rotfl:

This evening, however, I am actually going out! It happens so rarely these days that it deserves a mention. Actually I am looking forward to it - an old friend (from Big DD's baby group days) has invited all the mummies from the baby group over for an evening of wine and cake. I haven't been very good at keeping in touch with everyone, mainly because I had to go back to work, when most didn't (they meet for coffee while I am slaving at the coalface. Envious, moi?!). I am really looking forward to seeing everyone again though. Fingers crossed for a dry evening as the hostess has a lovely garden and it would be a shame not to see it close up.

DH has gone fishing (again) - still, it's keeping him sane with the imminent redundancy looming so it'd be mean to begrudge him....as long as he is home early enough for me to go out of course!

    Have great days all

    Evie xx

DS has got his 2:1 - he's not academic and has really struggled,I'm proud of him for not giving up!!!!!

and..... I've bought a house  it's going to need work on it,but I'm hoping I can put everything I've learned on here into practise. It's even got a little garden! At the moment my "garden" consists of a pot of mint:o

The last few years have been yuk but I'm actually feeling a bit better about the future. It's not going to be easy but I know I can do it:D
