Glorious day here, will venture to hang the washing out!:)
Our caravan site was flooded in the storms, the small beck burst it's banks and filled half the field with two foot of water! We were lucky, only half an inch in our awning. Will let it dry out then broom it and hoover up the dust. Others much worse off. Most peoples awnings full of mud and a few vans have water inside them.
Poor site owner did not know where to start! They had a pump running to try and clear the water, but the site road has been washed away! Bless her, when the banks burst she was in their farmhouse trying to cope with the water pouring in, they resorted to knocking a hole in an outside wall to let the water out!
Hope you all ok and the storms did not get you.
We are celebrating DGS and DGD fifth birthdays. It always covers three days by the time they have the day, then have a party and then we have a big family/friends BBQ. Ambitious I know, in this weather!! We have put a marquee up the garden so if it rains we will be ok. Will relegate DH to metal shed to cook if it rains:rotfl:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
Aye, the storms on Thursday were incredible, fantastic to watch but VERY destructive. I feel I got off lightly with a nightmare [STRIKE]swim[/STRIKE] drive home through torrents of water, and a flooded rickety old back porch.
BUT much more importantly, speaking of birthday celebrations, I think I can sniff out a birthday today for one of our regular thread contributors, who will no doubt be mortified if we all sing Happy Birthday to her...so what are we waiting for...:rotfl:
Sniff...sniff....yes, it's coming in on a gentle breeze from a long way south of here...
 Happy Birthday, Byatt

Morning all, it was a wet night down here but not cold, in fact if anything too warm for comfort. Quiet day today as DH out with DD doing a charity walk so I'll get a few jobs done in peace! FUDDLE - if you want a non-agressive form of instant discipline for the puppy we found that keeping a spray bottle of water beside us and giving him a spray in the face produced instant results. The kind of spray you use on laundry ( just a squeezy bottle) set just below mist so it is not a jet of water but will make him wet. Docky had a really bad habit when he was little of creeping up behind me when I was working in the kitchen and giving a really loud bark,I only had to spray him a few times for him to get the message. Now we only have to show him the bottle, or spray it in the air (he doesn't like the noise) near him for instant obedience. Might be worth a try? so he associates it with the kitchen work surface , you could leave it visible on the edge, and hopefully he would stay away and not steal the food. DD1 and I are off to Sweden for a week in the near future so part of today will be sorting out what to take to wear and getting anything else I need from the shops. Love the country and so excited to be going back again, at my age too - oh well some of us never really grow up do we? Long may it continue, there's a lot to be said for childhood (not my second, never really outgrew the first one!) Have a good one everyone Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Just popping in to say
:bdaycake: HAPPY BIRTHDAY Byatt!
I'm off down South to visit the PIL and to go to a Baptism tomorrow. I'm hoping that I don't get endlessly questioned about my religious beliefs like I did at the last one. A family of Atheists in a room full of evangelicatal Christians is an experience lol.
Take care everyone, see you soon xxxx0 -
:bdaycake::bdaycake: Happy birthday Byatt!!!
Gloriously sunny day thus far but you never know with the weather so I aim to be on the lottie by mid morning with a flask and sarnies and stay til after lunch if I can muster the energy.I'm sure the sight of slug damage will motivate me (GQ goes from 0-120 fuelled by rage) to get the spade on a few.
Just chilling with a cuppa whilst I wait for the meds to kick in.........hope everyone has a great day, esp any birthday gurls who might just happen to pop in.........;)
OMG, glad the caravan was OK, what a terrible thing for those whose vans were soaked, and that poor site owner. I really feel for people trying hard to run a business in these times. It's hard enough without exteme weather added into the mix.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Happy Birthday Byatt! :j Have a virtual slice of the choccy cake I took out of the freezer earlier, hubby won't miss it.
It's been sunny here too today for the first time since I came back, so it was time for some laundry. We also had a lovely unplanned day out, wandering around in the sun after an extremely long unplanned lie in. Not sure what dinner is, as you guessed it, that's also unplanned! Special Not-so-Fried Rice might be a winner, that uses up whatever's lurking in the darker recesses of the fridge.
Hoping the weather is good tomorrow as we're heading for a spit roast tomorrow to celebrate FILs birthday.
Love and sunshine to all.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070
