Can you ask them to deliver to a neighbour? I get all my parcels sent to the bookies' downstairs, so I rarely have to go and collect.
This is a great idea. My brother runs an online business and he often dispatches to people's workplaces and academic institutions. London customers tell him that Royal Mail often struggle to find residential addresses but can seen to find businesses.
I don't know if that's true but people keep telling him that. I once worked for RM and saw some darned strange things in the sorting office (ooo-errr missus!) inc a sack of mail destined for a place in CANADA which co-incidentally shared a name with our town and had ended up in England. And a few sacks of mail sorted for an inner-London borough which ended up in Provincial City. When I asked how the hell that happened, I just got a shrug and was told someone had put it on the wrong van.:eek:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Have you tried Debenhams designer sale for work dresses- dd got a Jasper Conran one a year ago and it looks great.
My poor feet and legs and just about all of me are recovering from being out shopping from 9a.m. to 8p.m. yesterday. Very impressed with Trafford Centre - dd finally got a prom dress she loves (almost they opposite of what she said she wanted and we had all been looking out for for weeks). We even found a pair of Kurt Geiger shoes in the sale.:j
Just need a clutch bag and suitable underpinnings etc now. Even dds were shattered when we got home but had a nice meal with oldest dd and her BF joining us and as we had not seen them for a couple of months it felt special.
Can hear DH working on garage and shed in the rain so going to make pot of tea and look busy. No idea what to cook tonight and can't face walk anywhere at the mo. Might peer hopefully into into freezer in garage and wait for inspiration of any sort but temptation to hibernate for the day is almost irresistable.

Enid Blyton book? I have had an idea. I wonder if you can get audio books? DH and I have old ipod shuffles that we don't use. We were thinking of giving them to the kids but thought they were too young to be listening to music on there. Audio books would be a different matter and would keep them occupied when we go to Scotland next month. I mentioned it this morning to my eldest. She's a very competent reader and has asked me to find The Famous Five at the library. I had forgotten all about the joy of The Famous Five. Thanks
Eldest has expressed a wish to go on school lunches at junior school. I would so love her to go on them, especially in the winter but I know that I can do it a lot cheaper the packed lunch way. Still, I think it's better for her to get a decent meal. I'll talk to DH tonight but I suspect we'll budget them in. Youngest DD will go on packed lunches in infants though, she's still in the parky eating stage.
I've opened windows in my room where the washing is. It's doing a lot better these past few hours. Hopefully by tea-time I won't even need to finish off in the tumbler. Dark loaded needing to go in this evening too. Feels like I'm on a merry go round!
Going to use up some soft fruit that about to go squishy and make a steamed pud in the new slow cooker. We're having gammon, fried egg and and chipped pots this evening.
Eldest DD has asked if they can make fairy cakes later too, if she makes them tonight will they keep for desert tomorrow night?
I'm contemplating putting in an AF order. I have a list of stuff I need, If I can get the majority of stuff on there it will be worth it. Off to go look.
GQ you've worked in so many places! DH said from now on to get things delivered to him at work but I'm not allowed to get the AF order sent there - he's too embarrassed. HE has a lot to learn0 -
Fuddle and anyone else interested in making clothes. Just pick a very simple basic pattern to start and make it up with very cheap cotton so it will not matter about mistakes. You can always wear it for cleaning the house:)
I buy my patterns here very cheaply and I gave in and subscribed to the magazine earlier this year and I am glad I did because I have learned quite a few things about construction and how to make your clothes fit right and look good especially with regard to facings which are the bain of my life. The article I liked said line the top of the garment instead of using facings as that is what the best professional dressmakers do, simple huh?, why didn't I think of that?0 -
fuddle you can download free audio books from here. We bought youngest ds a cd player and I burned loads of audio books for him as well as getting some for my mp3 player, they help me sleep.0

grandma thank you so much for both the links
DH is fishing tonight so I've bookmarked the pattern one to read at my leisure when the girls are in bed. Looking forward to it
Off to go suss out the freebie audio books and how to get them on the shuffles.
They are going to be so pleased (and I might get some peace and quiet without feeling guilty because they'll be off in a wonderful little adventureshush, a mum shouldn't say that should she)

Manchester libraries do audiobooks you can download online, so it might be worth checking out your library service too.
Feeling shattered - was up very, very late last night as I was really upset about something and spent hours crying. Then Tessy woke me at 6.30 by being sick, so I had to get up and clean up dog vomit in my pyjamas and hose her bed down in the shower. So I think I am going back to bed for a couple of hours! Maybe see you all later xxx.Aspire not to have more but to be more.

((hugs)) smiley.
Fuddle I am not sure what you meant about shuffles but all you do is download the zip file and unzip it, I usually tell it to unzip to a folder with the books name. (so I can find it) then just check the size of the folder and the size your mp3 player can hold. If it is the right size you can just plug in the mp3 and highlight all the chapters and drag and drop into the mp3 files or just highlight the folder itself and do the same. I only know how mine works so you will need to check for yours.
If the file is too big just put the number of files it will hold then change to the others later.0 -
Thanks for that site grandma247! It's just what we need for our sewing club and the vintage vogue pattens are great, I think I may have seen just 'The Dress' for November when OH and I get married. I've been wanting a 50's style and I'm going to have it in deep red/burgandy!0
