Oh lets all go here -

Light a candle, everybody. Lets all link together and send love & light & healing round the circle. Our joint willpower and intent will lift us all. xxx0 -
Cor blimey Kidcat you do have a monumental amount on your plate. ((((Hugs)))) are worth nowt really but you've got as many as you need from over here, lovely.
Perhaps your "full and frank exchange of views" with your OH will give him a big kick up the bracket. There really is a limit to just how much one slim pair of shoulders can be expected to bear on their own.0 -

Mardy: I don't really believe in any of that but I've lit a candle anyway. Now, who's the gullible one? Ach, it feels like it's all in a (number of very) good cause/s. So what the heck.0 -
Kidcat you are wonder woman. Do you think OH would go to get help he needs?
I'm alright. I gave my head a shake and went to go weed the garden. I then got all proactive and sowed my elderflower seeds indoors and began my herb trough. I think I've lost my strawberries this year but hoping for runners to root.
It's catch 22 when I'm like I was just then. I know I need to snap out of it and to do that I need to be distracted but I lack the motivation to actually do that. It was sunny so the kids and I went out. They've played with snails and worms while I worked.
I have been around the prep winter thread. It's great. DH still thinks it's his right to be warm in the house and puts the heating on at the drop of the hat. He is getting better but it's taken a long time. This year I will not put the heating on at all when I'm in the house alone during the day. If I'm really cold, the dog and I will hole up in my bedroom and i'll put the little electric rad on. I'm a strong determined person and feel if DH wants the heating on every night till bedtime I will have to keep my resolve during the day.
I'm a toughie through and through now but sometimes I have a wobble.0 -
I feel trapped because we have another 3 years with the bankruptcy affecting our credit file. 3 more years of not getting into houses that agents have on their books. 3 more years of huge bills. I just want out of this house but get so cross with myself because we're so lucky to have it.
Ah! But you're in a very different situation now. YOU'VE GOT THREE YEARS OF PAYING THE RENT IN FULL AND ON TIME UNDER YOUR BELTS NOW PLUS A GOOD REFERENCE FROM YOUR CURRENT LANDLORD. That's something very important that you didn't have three years ago.
Darling, to my mind there's absolutely no shame in suffering a terrible misfortune or a series of them. It's how you choose to live your life afterwards that counts. That's the true indication of integrity.0 -
Aw that's lovely Mar0

I just want to scoop up all the incredible women who post here and feed you tea and cake and for us all to have a bl**dy good whinge and to set the world to rights. I'm sure we could do a much better job than the shower that are running the place at the moment.
((((((((((((((((((((((((((kidcat and fuddle))))))))))))))))))))))))))
You are both amazing and strong and wonderful and never let anyone tell you otherwise. I couldn't deal with what you do on a daily basis and with what most of the ladies here do. Here's hoping tomorrow and the day after and the day after that are better.
I think I could deal with mardatha's sweetie shortages, but that's about it. (Not that I'm making light of them in any way mardatha, but my weakness is cake and I can make that)
I use St Delia's all in one white sauce making method and find it works really well.
Today I made it to Knit and Natter where I knitted all of 8 rows of the basket weave scarf I'm making. I'm bored with it and aren't sure if there is anyone to give it to when it's done, therefore it's going very slowly. I also wandered around the shopping centre in a daze. I swear my brain needs a jump start or a reset or something. It's just not functioning as it should at the moment. I did get a grow chives pot thing in Tesco for 24p so I can try growing something. That's now on the kitchen window sill in the hopes something will happen.
I also said I would join the local libraries book group and then worked out that the next one is on 12th July which is when I want to be in town getting my Thursday Next books signed by Jasper Fforde. I'll just have to get there early and hope that I'm back in time. I did think about baking a Dodo shaped cake for Jasper Fforde, but am scared it might come across as a bit strange and stalker like.
I did get around to picking the elderflowers outside the house and have a half batch of cordial started on the dining room table. Thanks for posting the recipe VJsmum. I found it when I did a forum search. I plan on freezing it in ice cube trays as I'm the only one that drinks it and that way I can just defrost what I want. If it works I'll go in search of more elderflowers when I can.
Pizza for dinner tonight which is good as DH has just phoned to say the car has broken down and he is stuck on the M1. Thank goodness it's a company car and that we won't have to find the money to sort it. I can make his pizza up and he can just put it in the oven when he gets back.
Tomorrow my friend is visiting with her two year old who is actually very well behaved most of the time. He just has a tendency to pick up anything you have missed and hand it to you, which can be a bit embarassing after the 5th bit of fluff off the carpet. (I got a bargain rug from Ikea a while back, a pure wool ex-display one for £27 instead of over £100, but it does moult a lot)
I'd better stop waffling on and go and sort out pizza toppings and see how many veggies I can sneak in. Somehow I don't think my lot will go for broccoli pizza.
Take care and chins up xxxxxxxxxx0 -
Fuddle - hope by the time you come back you are feeling a little better about your situation. You know there is so much help here with practical things, there are bound to be plenty of ideas here to help with your heating problems, you won't be alone I bet!
Kidcat - Perhaps now you have said your piece (a long time coming possibly?) you might feel bit better about the situation, although it must be hugely frustrating that your OH cannot see what he is putting the family through. I do hope he has listened, men can be so stubborn, even those without any possible disabilities!
Smiley - Hope you found a chair, Bruno is a very naughty dog indeed!
Byatt - Good Shop!
Lovely day here again, off up to have our evening meal in the garden. Finally got to bath in my own house, an air lock in the boiler fuel line meant another day without hot water.
(((hugs))) for those that are in need tonight.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Fuddle kidcat and anyone else (((hugs)))
Fuddle keep telling yourself that it is not a long time really and once this winter is over you only have two more.
Get crocheting a hat and some thick bootee type slippers. if you keep the heat in by covering your head and keep your feet warm you will be ok. Also wrist warmers.0 -
FUDDLE - we thought you were pretty darn good to be doing all you have been to keep body and soul together - now we know how much of a fighter you are. Thank you for sharing with us, it makes all you try to do and all you have done all the more amazing for knowing how hard it must be for you. You are one heck of a battler little one, it's a real privelege to know you. Never doubt, you can and will win through and if we're proud of you now, just wait 'till you are through it all - you'll be deafened by the cheering from each and every one of us!!!!! Chin up Cheers (and lots of them) Lyn xxx.0
