Right, I have finally got hold of the Limoncello recipe from Mrs OG. It is a James Martin she tells me. Can't remember the rules for posting recipes, if this is wrong mods please feel free to delete!
This is a really tricky one!:D
Limoncello
70cl vodka
200g caster sugar
Zest & juice 8 unwaxed lemons.
Warm a little of the vodka in a pan and add the sugar until dissolved - don't boil. Add lemon juice and zest and the remaining vodka. Pour into a bottle and freeze, it stays sort of slushyThink big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Mrs C, that sounds amazing, and easy enough for me to even try!
Seems Greece have voted to stay in the Euro...0 -
Thinking I will make a batch of that for summer guests Mrs C - always assuming we ever get summer!
Although it has been ok here today but very wet this morning. We all went to my parents for the day, which was difficult, they have an open plan downstairs that DS8 finds difficult, added to no Sky TV (I know its a luxury for some but for DS its a focal point), access to as much junk as he can stuff and he found it too much to cope.
I took him off to garden centre for a break mid afternoon which helped him regain focus but by dinner time he was struggling again and begged to come home. Made the decision that it was better to bring him home and leave everyone else behind for dad to bring later. And the minute we left he visibly relaxed and calmed.
It was hard to see as it showed that something he used to cope with he now struggles with - and I am never sure if removing him just makes it harder in future or not.
It was however very nice to be home just the two of us to have a light bite (bacon sandwich) and just chill.
Had an interesting chat with a neighbour today, our house is showing some signs of roof damage, and is only 7 yrs old. The neighbour turns out had the same thing fairly recently and was able to claim on the builders insurance. He says a few have had the same and the company are now just handing out cheques to have work done. If this is true it would be a welcome addition to the bank account, and Dad has a builder who will do the work at cost for us.
I have also managed to discover the problem with the internet and should now be able to do a proper fix tomorrow.0 -
That's good news about the roof kidcat. Shame about DS getting a bit overwrought but at least you managed to nip it in the bud by removing him from the environment.
Mrs Chip - that limoncello recipe is in the file now - please thank OG's lady wife for us.
I have more insect problems. After getting over the plague of flies I've now been bitten by insects whilst out walking on 2 successive days and have 2 big red weals on my neck and my left ear is red, hot and swollenHave been walking round a local lake recently with pup but that will have to stop for a bit - shame because he loves to paddle/swim.
Room of Doom to be sorted tomorrow ready for AF order - might help me sort out clutter to go on fleabay too."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
Who asked several pages ago about Kemps?? I find them very good, service is excellent....I even find that it is often cheaper to order from them, pay postage and all the bits and bobs involved with changing my Euro to Sterling than it is to buy wool here...doesn't make sense, but its true!
Had some limoncello to-day as a digestivo after lunch in my current favourite restaurant....got very sick once in Sardinia on homemade stuff, so have used it sparingly ever since....

lizzy - I went on DS school trip to forest during the very hot few days we had here, it was absolutely packed with insects and people were having to cover their mouths and noses to avoid inhaling them. We used a can of insect spray and am very surprised to report that whilst insects appeared to bite, there was no sign the next day so it did work. Maybe you could still give pup his swim but protect yourself too.0

I'll have a look at Kemps, thanks for that0

Smiley take care pet xxMar, are those coos trying to hide behind your little shed? Looks like it.
 Slowly fading, many congrats on your new job.
Hope you're on the mend today, smileyt. D'you reckon Lodger Boy has caused a food poisoning episode?I'm not sure I've caught up. Have been away from home and away from t'interweb for 3 days and by gum, can't you lot type. Went to the folks' and we slaughtered a fatted calf, visited Nan, went to a show and a boot fair and I bought (drumroll.....) a WHEELBARROW.:D
So thrilled. It was £15 and as new. Didn't bring it back on the coach last night as I thought the driver wouln't thank me for the burden so will have to soldier on for a few weeks until the folks are next bringing their chariot over this way. It's truly amazing how complex the logistics get when you don't have your own wheels.
I knew you'd understand the thrill. There I was, walking this barrow around the booter and Mum decided she needed to use the facilities so I was outside with the barrow and the shopping bags and this geezer strolls by, very obviously eyeing up my barrow, walking really slowly. Then he feigns a need to tighten both shoelaces, so he can continue to letch after said horticultural implement. Tell ya, girlies, forget the high heels and the slap, and get a barrow and you become a man-magnet.
They're also great conversation starters. A lady on a mobility scooter offered me a race, but with my dodgy knees, I knew I was beat before I even started.............:rotfl:
Urff, due to a busy weekend, I feel like one of the walking dead and will have to try to get my brain up to at least warp speed 1 in order to serve at the salt mine. Hope I don't get asked anything difficult today............. *
Have a good one, ladies. GQ x

I know what you mean about the attractions of a wheelbarrow GQ. A while ago I and several neighbours lent our barrows to another neighbour so they could shift a couple of tons of gravel past the house and gardens and down to their allotment space. My elderly neighbour, the Runner Bean King, used mine for a while and was overwhelmed with how light and manoeuvreable it was. It's nothing special, just 40 years newer than his heavy solid wood one. He still mentions it from time to time
There's a mystery to be solved here. I have a low table with several photos of pets past and present on it and one has disappeared - yesterday I think. It's not behind or under the table or nearby radiator. Either I've accidentally picked it up when moving something else or monster pup has taken exception to the pic of his predecessor. Cue the great picture hunt this morning - it's raining so it will be better than moping about."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0
