If you wanted something specifically related to being 21, there are often fab personalised things people are making on ebay - maybe search 21 + personalised and there might even be something you could make yourself eg. this would be very easy to do as an extra perhaps:

Girl, my eldest grandie. I like a few of these, will finish the soap and sit down for a look later. tyty.0 -
mardatha I'd go with a scrapbook with pics of her growing up and you could write down what you remember, like how you felt the first time you saw her, funny things she did/said, hopes for her future etc.
I'd do the same for my monsters if I thought they would appreciate it.0 -
Eeek just got a phone call from an agency I've sent my CV to - they might have some temporary, part-time work for me. I'll know in the next couple of days whether I've been successful. Fingers crossed - even though it's only 3 weeks it's better than having to sign on! It's with the Council and apparently they're always looking for minute-takers and administrators for temporary placements. The money's not fantastic but it'll be another string to my bow.
The agency is Randstad, Business Support and I know they operate in other areas of the country so if anyone else on here has admin experience it might be worth sending contacting them to see if your local Council does the same.Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Back to the topic of the thread here - read this and get some cash to keep in the house for emergencies!!

(Reuters) - European finance officials have discussed limiting the size of withdrawals from ATM machines, imposing border checks and introducing euro zone capital controls as a worst-case scenario should Athens decide to leave the euro.
EU officials have told Reuters the ideas are part of a range of contingency plans. They emphasized that the discussions were merely about being prepared for any eventuality rather than planning for something they expect to happen - no one Reuters has spoken to expects Greece to leave the single currency area.
But with increased political uncertainty in Greece following the inconclusive election on May 6 and ahead of a second election on June 17, there is now an increased need to have contingencies in place, the EU sources said.
I've been reading about the Greeks - due to uncertainty over the coming elections, they have been pulling their money out of the bank and stocking up on non-perishable foods (remind you of anyone?)
Mind you, if it had been us we'd have had every penny out and stocked up on tinned toms ages ago.
Been MIA for a bit - RL taking over somewhat due to minor building works going on for 3 months, builder spitting dummy out and "walking away" because he has done it wrong, garden hiding zebras and giraffes in long grass, etc. etc.
Keep trying to read to keep up though, laughing and sobbing with you all.0 -
Ohhhh Good Luck Smiley, I hope you get it. Sounds promising. xx
Just want to thank all of you for the positive thoughts and healing for my DD, she has been told today that she is healing much quicker than expected, and she certainly sounds much happier. xxx
PAH, I hope you're ok, somewhat worried after your scary weekend. xxx0 -
Good luck Smileyt, sounds like a solution to signing on for a while.
The whole Greece problem is worrying, who is next I wonder,we need to really batten the hatches there may be even tougher times ahead.
And why has butter gone up again  I have been getting the spreadable and usually theres an offer for £1 -£1.50 now its £3 :mad:back to margarine which I was avoiding. Just got 31?2 kg of lovely apples from Mr A for £1.40 so off to stew them for filler-up puds. My Mum was saying her market in Bolton is even to expensive for meat and she is shopping for 1Think I will soak some beans for bean salad and make some salsa, the only trouble is DS loves salsa and usually eats it straight from the bowl before I can save some!
Clearing the junk to travel light

MAR - is she the kind of person who would like an 'experience' instead of a material present. A few years ago the girls treated me to a Hot Air Balloon flight for my christmas pressie, it is one of the things I most enjoyed doing in my whole life. There are so many things along those lines to choose from A cookery course at a posh restaurant (my eldest DD has had a couple at Bordeaux Quay in Bristol), a day learning a new skill i.e Cheesemaking, Leatherwork etc. or perhaps she would like a 'Pamper Day' a facial, hairdoo ,spa or something or that sort. Its such a nice thing to get. Hope this helps Cheers Lyn x.0

Where do you find out about this stuff Mrs L ?0
-
MAR - I'll talk to the girls this evening and see if I can find specific addresses for you, you could try googling Experience Days with some idea of what she would be interested in and get an idea of prices, area and availability. I know there used to be a firm called Red Letter Days but I think thats gone. I'll post again later on this evening if they still have the details. My Balloon flight was out of Bath and was spectacular!!!!! Cheers Lyn x.0

MAR- Google - 'Experience days in Scotland' and you'll find everything from Afternoon Tea at a posh hotel to Tank Driving, Flying Lesson and Off Roading - Red Letter Days does still exist and there is a sale on at Activity Superstore but you will have to check what is available in the area she has access to. A quick skim through will give you lots of ideas. Good luck Lyn x.0
