My Dad got my mum a balloon flight for her 40th - just with a local company out of the phone book (this was the in the days before google!) He wrapped a load of little things and wrote cryptic clues on the labels, things like 2 rolls of film labelled - one for us to take you and one for you to take us! and a packet of extra strong mints - in case the gas runs out (remember that old advert!)

It may well be better value to go direct for something rather than using an experience site (but not always depending on what extras are thrown in).

"People are terrified by the prospect of returning to the drachma and some believe it's good to fill their cupboard with food products," said Vassilis Korkidis, head of the ESEE retail federation.

"It's over the top, we must not panic. Filling the cupboard with food doesn't mean we will escape the crisis," he said.

The infrastructure there is being altered. Doubts are being put in people's mind. What do people do when they feel threatened? They go right back to basic survival and ensure they have food and drink. Panic or not, I think it's darn sensible.

Just took delivery of my shopping, my store cupboard is looking mighty fine :D All listed so I always know what is in there and the second I take something out I will write it on the shopping list to replace immediately. It feels so good to be organised.

That being said I am practically walking around asleep. I am so tired. I hope I get a full nights sleep tonight.

I have received an email telling me my trolley will arrive tomorrow. Initially, YES! but I saw an elderly couple with one today, like mine but with flowers on, and I thought... do I really want to do this. Head says absolutely, heart is having a wobble and worrying about what people think. Head argues "I don't care what people think!" but heart whispers, actually I do. So I'm having a wobble over it. I want to do that trek to the butchers warehouse again on Friday for fruit and veg with it. Lets see if I chicken out or not

Fuddle - stern talk time - you know that it is the most sensible solution, and that it does not matter what other people think! Don't allow your own self doubt to undermine what was a lovely gesture by OH! Hold your head up and use your trolley with pride - and if you want to raise a laugh, stick an 'L' plate on it :rotfl:
Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures
  • FUDDLE dear, I have a trolley and find the best use for it when full and heavy is to run over the toes of anyone who dares to pass comment - come on in the water's fine!!! Have you never heard of trolley rage? Cheers Lyn x . P.S. Hope pup is still fine today Lyn.
  • MAR - I have just spoken to DD1 who says the firm she used for my Air Balloon flight is 'Buy a Gift.co.uk' , she popped on line and looked quickly and they had about 40 different activities in Scotland all sorts of things including the balloon flight. Lots of them are buy 1 and 2 people go, so if you're inclined to you might get to go as well. DD says if you look on Fleabay they are very often offered by people who cannot use thier present, and quite a lot cheaper but it is nearly always an auction so by no means a certainty, a few are however buy it now, just might be worth a look. Let me know if you do decide this is viable. Cheers Lyn x.

Fuddle, I think when you are tired, things don't always seem such a good idea, or you feel less positive about things, but by tomorrow you will be fine I am sure. When I see someone with a trolley I don't think how naff, or check out that person's age, I think they are so common now and very fashionable. My DD has a really trendy one with London emblazoned on it, and she wouldn't be without it.

As for the not sleeping, have you talked to your dr about it?

I have had palpitations all day and they are horrible. Can't think what's caused them or why....

Mardy, does she like having her nails done or other beauty treatments? If so you usually can get gift vouchers from the salon of choice.

whsm*th and b*ots do the special day things as well. whsm*th have theatre tokens and boots link here (you can adopt a reindeer!! :D)
