What a beautiful day! At this time 7 years ago, my eldest was less than ten minutes old, how the time has gone. As I dropped him off at school, I got a wave (kissing your mum in front of your friends is not cool apparantly) and off he went.0

I have a 7 yr old who was also 7 just recently. Can't really believe she was only 5lb 12oz when she was born, now she's almost as tall as her 10 yr old brother (who is short for his age, but still!).shelley_crow wrote: »What a beautiful day! Bitter and Twisted that is so interesting. I had no idea but some of that must still be passed down to me because although I think they're extremes and don't by any standard dictate the core of a lady, I do think that they're common sense bases to how we, as ladies, should behave. I don't drink because I don't like the person I become i.e. loud, opinionated, reckless towards others feelings, behave stupidly childish. I hate for anyone to see me gobbling anything walking in the street but I would sit down on a cafe terrace where people can see me eating. I don't do the whole black bra under white tops or white shoes with tights etc etc but only because I don't think it looks very good - maybe that's the essence back then - those things just didn't suit a lady. Also I would never brush my hair or apply lipstick etc in public. It's bizarre for sure. I have got my ideas from somewhere - maybe i'm just a laaaaaaady
Lovely here thank the dear clouds so it's washing day for sure. Also bathroom cleaning day. Yuk. I also have a mountain of non iron's that I really have to sort and put away. I wish I had a swing like Mar! Today I would be perched on it with my library book for definate.
Speaking of library books. I am reserve mine online for a fee of 30p. Bargain I say as even kindle downloads (I don't have one just the phone app) cost pounds. But they're now 35p. I guess it doesn't matter really but an increase I thought to report0 -
I always joke that whether one is a woman is a matter of biology and chronolgy, whether one is a lady is a matter of opinion; your own and other people's.
I'm a very natural and unaffected person and wouldn't necessarily consider myself ladylike but I was brought up properly and don't like to behave uncouthly. It's not big and it's not clever to drop your knicks and pee in the gutter down in clubland.
Ooops, folks are pulling up outside and weather is warm and sunny. Thunderbirds are GO.

I would - although not literally - rather starve than walk along the road eating. Although I don't mind if it's fruit! What is that all about?
I like a drink, for sure, but endeavour not to drink to excess as I become very self righteous (:o) and repeat myself often. I also become very self righteous:rotfl: Joke - I am sober as a judge, or as my dad used to say "I'm not so thunk as some drinkle seem to peep I am". I can swear like a trooper but generally keep it for comic effect (and at the OH! although that is largely for comic effect too). I have never sworn at the children (unless the odd bl00dy counts!) - but have been known to say shhhhh ugar or ffffff iddlesticks! I am certainly not a layyddeeeee but am more ladylike than much of the youth of today. I don't think the drink helps in general, with anyone's behaviour.
I don't go out without make up but don't touch it up during the day. I wouldn't wear a black bra under a white top and I don't wear high heels at all - mostly cos I'm quite tall and I can't walk in them. I can turn into one of "those women" at the drop of a hat("You are clearly not senior enough to deal with this, so can I speak to someone who is"!). Told you I was self righteous!
The conservatory man has been so I have no more excuses not to work. Good luck with the sofa GQ - we look forward to the tale later.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

Aw bless Happy Birthday to your son Shelley, gosh seems a long, long time since mine were 7 although grandson will be 7 next month and is rather like your son, cuddles and kisses are allowed just not in front of ones friends.
Well nothing from my baby boy about moving back in, he went off with lawn mower - usually a guarantee that I will not see him for a few weeks as we usually have to demand he brings it back so our lawn can be done.
Hubby told me quite plainly last night he does not want son back to live with us, as we have house the way we want it ( well don't want study as a dumping ground but as hubby will not help clear it and I can only do little bits at a time spread over months, its likely to be like that for a loooooooooooooooooong time). Its DIL and grandchildren I worry about more and how they are coping, and the money we lent them last week wasn't to keep son in funds but to make sure the rent could be paid and food bought as they had to use that money to pay the baliffs thanks to sons stubbornness.
Well will worry about him and him coming here if he does at moment I have got to think about dentist today - will he want to remove any more teeth ( had to go to emergency dentist a week last sat as face and roof of mouth badly swollen and pain was bad and I had been hoping to hold out till I saw my own dentist. £17.50 now to see emergency dentist) and since then had pain in teeth and gums near where other one taken out and also a loose wisdom tooth - that is the one bad thing since giving up smoking my gums have given me nothing but trouble - its as if gums are now getting full oxygen and blood and are becoming bigger and pushing my teeth out. So have enough to pay for check up today but if he wants to do any treatment unless he is willing to bill me as broke now till next week with giving them so much.
Well sun is cracking the flags so guess I better get out and take the fleeces off the plants - put them back on again last night as the wind has a chill to it. Been told that apart from the hottest days ( approx 23 +) I can leave the fleece on the plants without them coming to harm so I think my twice a day removal and replacement will be going on all summer on sunny dry days, but I am sure its thanks to the fleece I have plants at all, so far not lost any that have gone out. The are growing, very slowly yes, but growing non the less. thankfully.
Madartha fleece might be the answer to your non growing problems - you can pick it up cheap enough if you look around. I was lucky and got fleece tunnels 3m x 1m last Sept for £5.50 each from a company via Amazon and fleece is good quality - snag is I bought 10 and when I went to buy one for a friend he they had put the price up to £15.15, me buying so many at once must have made them think they could sell them for more, but I will not be buying any more and am so sorry my actions made them do this, spoils it for others and I feel so bad about it - I sold my friend one of mine for what I paid, wasn't having her pay the increased amount. I also have fleece sheets that I cut to fit over pots etc in back garden where as the tunnels fit nicely over beds in side garden ( I make the beds to fit the tunnels).
There is also a place on Amazon selling mini polytunnels - 1m wide and 1.5m in length, not the thickest plastic but its on the wire hoops. no good once plants start growing as they only go to about 12ins high, but fine over seedlings, they are £5.25 each and I have bought 4 and have them over the tomato seedlings I had to put out before I bought grow house.
I know waffling on and on about my gardening, its what I am totally concentrating on, shops are not an option till we have money next week so apart from dentist today and hospital on friday I will not be going anywhere else or doing anything else except potter in garden and try and do some bits in study - rest of house is tidy and clean.
Right been up since 8.30 and done nothing yet at last hubby is out of bathroom so can go and get my shower - he is never quick.
Oh yes I assure you no one has over stepped the boundaries, I know deep down I should have stood up to hubby years ago or booted him out and kept him out, but I love the guy so put up with him, am lucky it is just laziness not boozing or womanising, so I know compared to a lot he is great, but now with health going down my always doing everything and not demanding he helps is coming home to roost........
Hugs and love to all

Morning all, I woke up this morning to a different world - warmth and sunshine - it's heavenly. Have just picked the first peas from the polytunnel to have for supper tonight with poly grown salad leaves, and half price salmon en croute from the co op, if the gods are kind we shall be able to eat it out in the garden. We have just bathed the lurcher as he's been in the river for the last couple of walks and am going to wash all his doggy towels as I am sure they will dry outside. Goodness knows we've used them often and often over the past few weeks! I hope everyone has lovely weather and a really nice day Cheers Lyn and the clean Lurcher x.0
