Morning all
Thankfully my black dob has mostly gone to sleep, he just opens one eye and growls softly at me every now and again. Getting to see my gorgeous 14 month old nephew worked wonders yesterday. Although with DS1 being 16 and DS2 13, it's a shock to the system chasing a baby around again. DH has said we will have him to stay for the weekend at some point soon, so baby proofing the house again is going to be fun.
gardenia I hope your own black dog is behaving itself and that you feel better (((((((((hugs))))))))
Mrs Chip I'm glad your first two nights went wellOnwards and upwards. You'll soon be selling out of those mankinis
ginnyknit I don't do the "i" word anyway. I view it as a pointless exercise. I wouldn't say no to another cuppa however.
I am in awe of all the gardening ladies. I can't grow anything. My gardening consists of mowing the lawn and going out and hacking things to pieces occasionally.
Today our friends are coming to lunch. I've made brownies and the turkey crown I got YS on Christmas Eve is in the oven stuffed with the sage and onion stuffing I got YS on Boxing Day. I'm hoping for some leftovers to make turkey and ham pie. Mmmmmmmmmm pie
I'd better go and have a shower while the bathroom is free. Bye for now everyone xxxx0 -
Can anyone explain, preferably in words of one syllable, the likely effects of the Greece / France election results? Are we doomed?;)
Another batch of 5 assignments marked. What to do next? GO jogging? A bit of gardening while it's dry? Hang the washing out? Tidy and dust? The "I" word?
Or have another coffee? :coffee:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

I was just reading all about this on the front page of the Daily Mail online. The paper seems to be giving the impression of doom & gloom but I don't really understand in what way either, I'm no wiser for reading it :cool:0 -
Re: Hollande http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-17978116 the Beeb commentator seems to think no-one really knows what will happen.
This growth thing cheeses me off anyway - we live in a world of finite resources, so constant growth is a one-way trip to annihilation IMHO.
Hey ho.
Mrs Chip (butty) glad your first two nights of trading went ok. I think you should have a little flag pole on top of your van with a mankini waving from it :rotfl:I'm so sorry, you seem to be stuck with the mankini references forever now!!
Blinking cold here today, but at least it's not raining torrentially (yet). I have managed one dry walk with the dogs, which is one more than I expected to get today.
Mardatha thank you for the soaps, they are lovely! The meeces look good enough to eat so I must remember they are soaps and not sweeties!
Right, I'm off to go and tackle the yard. I sold my hen pen yesterday so I now have room to get out there and tidy up. I bet it starts raining as soon as I get out there ......Aspire not to have more but to be more.

VJSMum...I thought we were all doomed anyway! :rotfl:
Heaven knows what will happen...the papers are all full of grimness so I think it's time for me to take a break in la la land and stop reading/listening to the news (again)
All I know for sure is that chocolate has gone up. That has to be a bad thing. I went shopping for some stuff for tonights cookathon, as I've a choccie birthday cake ordered for tomorrow, and I thought to bung on some Aldi truffles fo decoration...Aldi had NO chocolate truffles, boxes or even their sea shell shapes so was forced to look in MrT - £5:eek: for a box of Guylian - OMG I think NOT. Reduced to a bag of Milkyway Magic stars and they were £2.09! Will use those and some sprinkles...
Today I'm going in to use the work kitchen (for the market tomorrow) at 4pm. Other DD is helping again tonight until Pippa gets back from Uni. Have piles of stuff (ingredients, tins, bakewares) all around the dining room...it's not a look. But I'm l
also on standby to go in earlier if it gets really busy, which is kind of stopping me doing anything constructive *eyeroll*

Smiley - I don't mind the mankini references, just as long as I don't have to witness Mr C wearing one, that could possibly 'turn' me IYKWIM :rotfl:
Everything, apart from seeds, is at a stand still in the garden. Seeds all seem happy to sprout but then do nothing, very odd.
All scrubbing done, van nice and sparkly again, but we are both a bit fed up with cleaning
Right lets see if I can get this pic sorted
Result!
ETA - Kate, I know what you mean,we have got boxes of catering stuff all over the place, the dining room looks like a warehouse!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Mrs C, what a gorgeous cat! Love the pic.
Getting DD sorted and packed ready for her trip to dad's and then on the weekend they are off on a cruise. There will be no contact, so that's going to feel really weird for me, we've never not been able to speak to each other.
Talking of birds, DD has had a small bird hanging around her window (a brightly coloured bird, maybe a chaffinch of some sort, and it's actually pecking at her window. This has never happened before, usually it's just seagulls. Does anyone know why it might be doing this?0 -
If it has putty in the frame it will be after the linseed oil. Bluetits used to do this to our wood frame windows.0

They are upvc double glazed.0 -
He is a rather fine fellow Byatt, but somewhat grumpy! As for birdies pecking the windows, we had this in London a couple of years ago - but it was long-tailed tits that were obsessed with pecking our window frames. These were old ones, so it could have been the putty they were after but tbh I don't think there was much putty left:rotfl:
If you Google 'birds pecking window frames' there is a lot about it.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0
