I agree, they probably came down to sit in their favourite chair and it was in a different place. You cant move stuff around with ghosts, thats their trick :D In our last house things used to get moved in the night, it drove OH mad. We went to a tower in Derbyshire and Oh went up the tower for a look round ( a few years ago) I waited at the bottom and when he came down I asked who he was talking to, he said there was no one up there. Well I heard a conversation as clear as a bell, or more like a speech. He got used to me and my sightings and hearing things but me knowing when the phone is going to ring still bothers him :rotfl:

I am hoping my little seedlings in the plastic greenhouses are going to be ok if the weather goes as forecasted. Loads of them are showing their little heads. Am not going to open the doors at all, they were well watered yesterday.

I have to agree maryb, I can't keep up with everything, am saving water and watching the petrol counter in the car like a mad woman. Its like the war 'Is your journey necessary???'
Clearing the junk to travel light
    Saving every single penny.
    I will get my caravan

Exactly!!! That's WHY I'd have moved. I may be psychic myself but things that go bump in the night still give me the heebie jeebies...although I take your point that the dead can't hurt you...there are 'other things' I'd rather not tangle with!

All you need is commonsense and a bit of "attitude" :D
Ginny, I think more and more how life is changing and it helps me to think our grannies have been where we are and they coped. It just takes determination & ingenuity and people in here have that in bucketloads. I've learned so much in this forum, its amazing . :D
On another forum we are discussing wartime rations, and they were thinking how hard it must have been. But in the Rationing Revisted blog, she makes the point that the rations laid on on a table don't seem much - but they were per person- and so if you had 3 kids thats 5 sets of rations to pool. Some busy mums are scared of cooking from scratch and think they won't have time - but there are lots of busy mums in here who are doing it , eh?
I'm going back to soapmaking after a break of a few years, I feel really happy with my wee self & had to share that :D:D
Sick of being bored and having the RV tell me "well try doin some housework then" !!!

So combining the two - I'd be asking the RV "when are you gonna start digging up the patio then?:rotfl::rotfl:

I don't often post in here - but I read every day cos its like when I was wee listening to all the Aunties talk whilst they were working - and assuming that "little pitchers didn't have big ears". I learn and laugh such a lot.

Off on holibobs - to the soon to be frozen wastes of Arran if the weather man is to be believed - but like a good OS stalward I am packed like we were heading over prairies.

Fridge bread, hobnobs and home baking are all in the car and ready to go.

Gardenia - as you know, I'm one who is going to the meet tomorrow. So sorry you're still not well enough - was of course looking forward to meeting you. But your health must come first - take care of yourself.

There will be another one I'm sure - as several can't come who'd originally hoped to.

Hope you all had a great meet up. Still feeling bad here, although I did get a whole night's sleep without coughing & spluttering so I'm feeling more human today. It is taking its time to go though - now have a chesty cough & a slightly less sore throat, but did manage my first solid food today - what a delight after a week of lozenges (even with my cooking) :rotfl:

Maybe I'll make the next meet, but I'm reluctant to plan anything nice these days as I've not made it yet to anything I'd planned this year . I've mithered on before about having to cancel coffee meets etc, but I'm starting to wonder if someone is trying to tell me I shouldn't have a social life! Maybe I'll fool them if I don't write it on my calendar :rotfl:
kidcat i shall look at couriers, good idea, although not many come this far north/west. I'm wondering if by making more home items, clothes and family gifts I might save money, which is as good, if not better, than making it???
Silvasava thankyou for your kind words - it really feels like one step forwards and two backwards these days. You're right though, I am resourceful - shall have to give it some more thought.

Hope you get to see Harry Potter kidcat- prices are ridiculous aren't they?

Sorry to hear about this WCS - I guess a lot of people will be wondering if it is worth carrying on. I much prefer to have a homemade gift, so I think your idea about making for family & friends is excellent. What about making for craft fayres, school events etc? Or are you too remote & would the fuel costs be too much?

Mardatha - omeprazole is wonderful stuff, isn't it? Glad you know what is going on & the treatment is relatively simple, if long term.

PIC - I don't think your posts are all about you at all. All of us need to vent & mither, & reading other posts certainly helps me put things in my own life into perspective (not that I like to read about anyone having a rubbish time IYSWIM).

Meme30 - hope it all goes well for your Ma today, & hope you aren't too exhausted after tomorrow with your Grandchildren - you will have earned a glass or three...

Hugs to Shegar & eveyone else - I can put more into a hug today as not aching so much!

I don't have any amusing knock-at-the-door stories to share I'm afraid. I don't answer the door at all when it is dark as it really unsettles me - I'm a bit of a wuss.
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...

My parents were spiritualists and I have had a couple of freaky experiences which I never want to repeat. My ex said he saw a few ghosts too, :p and had a particular scary experience on the road by Stonehenge, freaked him out one time.

I do not want to see anything, I had enough fear as a child as a result of parents and decided as adult to *not* believe to save my sanity.

Busy weekend, saw two of my uni friends and new baby, then DD came to help me load coffee table into car (heavy oak) as I decided it was too big here and she could have it, and just wasn't being seen at its best. Everyone loves it, it has drawers in both sides and looks really nice, so DD is chuffed. Spent Sunday sorting through her stuff again, had pep talk about her weight, but not getting anywhere. Then today, saw SW (the one who was not happy about dog)...interesting as SW was fine when I was there and DD, who amazes me with her insight at times, said, "people have two sides, and SW was showing a different side" when I was there. We didn't discuss the dog as money issues had raised their ugly head again, and we had to work together to solve that. Telephone banking is a complete nightmare where my DD is concerned as she can transfer amounts from account to account via phone even though she doesn't have physical access without support. It seems there is no way to put a block on it. She is impulsive and takes money out meant for bills. It seems to me with all the technology that is around things are actually a lot worse, because there are no real choices. DD got upset with me when on the phone as she wanted to deal with it herself, but we needed to get the facts.

Another meeting tommorrow and I'm worried as whilst more support is being arranged, DD may not co-operate. As it is with all the cut backs, she's not going to have that much support, and will be paying for it (though of course it's subsidised) and after all the worry and upset about moving her into sheltered housing they say now that's not an option at all. :(

I am quietly coming to terms with the fact that I still need to support her a great deal and weekends will be taken up with being with her. I thought for a short time that I could let go and relax a bit, but that's not the case.

I have registered with the local carer's association and I think I need to consider having breaks when she's with her dad as she cannot cope with me being anywhere but home, so even the cat sitting becomes stressful as there's always some crisis with her when I'm away.

On a plus side, I got a lovely Per Un@ bag, brand new for £4 in a CS and an Emma Bridgewater biscuit tin for a £1.

Was at the dentists earlier for a couple of filling. It was only half an hour but felt like 2!! Worse, I had to rinse half way through, spat it out and because I was all anaesthetised up, I spat it out all over the floor!! :o:D Sparkling gnashers now! Can't eat for 2 hours however, and I only had breakfast today.

Meme, hope all goes well with your mum. :)

    Shegar, how are you?

Mardy, you sound really perky, it must be a relief to have some answers to your health problems. As for the rationing, I think food portions and expectations of how much food should be on the plate are much bigger now. When I think back to being with my parents, portions were much smaller and seemed to be enough.

PAH that was incredibly scary, like some others have said, I would have moved.

Winchelsea, how was the meet up?

Gardenia, hope you get better soon. :)

    Hugs to all, :A

I'm a Spiritualist byatt ;) - my daughter is really into it and could be a medium if she tried; one son "sees" but is terrified and hates it; and the youngest son thinks I'm batty and gets annoyed with me. :D

I am like the first son you mention.:o:cool: I just don't want to "see dead people". Can't watch anything ghostly. Plus spiritualism back in the day (60's and 70's) was not considered such a good thing, and we had to keep quiet (lie)...but once people found out it was difficult especially as we had to go to "normal" church. My mother was a medium and both she and dad went around the S. Wales spiritualist churches where they talked and did the mediumship thing. They were very popular but that was another thing, weekends, bank holidays were taken up with their church bookings and us children were left to babysit (as we got older) or left with someone else and weren't allowed to go out weekends. As I got to my teens it got harder, and I know my older brother was very resentful (he's 10 years older than me). My younger brother is 7 years younger than me.

Anyway, nothing against spiritualism per se, just how it affected my growing up as well as my siblings.

I am a little psychic but try and ignore it. My mother used it as a control and it really messed with my head for a long time.

    :)
