Mind you I was brought up a little left of Lenin and didn't reckon much to the last lot. Needless to say to ensure that we actually make the wedding, we don't talk politics in our house!!!!:rotfl:
:DSounds like our house when my aunt and uncle visit. We're somewhere to the right of Ghengis Khan and they are definitely left of Lenin. The number of times DH and I have to bite our tongues. They are wonderful people, but :eek:
Wedding lunch sounds delicious!GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500 -
HI guys, stiltwalker very exciting
PJ1 - I know weezl set up a separate website for her meal plans so maybe she has moved over entirely?
Budget - am awaiting with great foreboding, my OH is very low paid - in fact it occurred a few weeks ago that the amount he gets now is only £1000 more than I was offered for part time when DD17 was a baby after maternity leave:eek::eek: with my caring for DS8 its a not easy. Its one of the main reasons I am looking into teacher training - it looks unlikely though as I just cannot get childcare for DS after school whilst I train.0 -

Thanks Kidcat,
That's partly why I posted this as I use her new website and followed her CFR blog but nothing has been posted on that since September last year! Never mind. Thanks again anyway.

I think Weezl got a bit despondent when some posters were "letting the best be the enemy of the good" and arguing over whether the meal plans did meet various nutritional requirements as well as they might (you're always going to have to compromise a bit on that budget - I prefer butter to margarine, for example, for numerous reasons, not just taste, but it won't kill you).
But I think the real reason may be as simple as the fact that she now has two small children and her maternity leave has run outIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Afternoon Everyone
GQ I'm so glad you believe me and you have my sympathies. Nurse is a battleaxe of a woman, although she does make a blinding cuppa. Can I suggest that your next imaginary friend looks like Hugh Jackman, cooks like Nigella and gardens like Monty Don........on the other hand I think I'll keep him for myself
byatt Ty for the good wishes. I'm feeling much better today and I know that there are several viral infections going around here at the moment so have put the dizziness down to that.
meme30 That's a good idea, but those tinned tomatoes are going to be valuable. I might get my Mom to make some rock cakes to use as weapons instead. She can't even make cake from a packet mix. DH says I learnt to cook in self defence.
stiltwalker That is wonderful news and your wedding plans sound fantastic. It's just the sort of wedding I would love to go to
PIC You have my sympathies. My DM is Queen of Passive Aggression. I also had a completely different childhood to my brother and sister, long story, but I don't feel like I want to treat her like she is the best Mom in the World. My DMIL is a treasure in comparision. I used to get it in the neck whenever something upset my Mom. It got to the stage where whenever we visited her I used to go around her neighbours and cry for 30 minutes as she upset me so much. I think DH had a word with her and told her that she was adding to my depression and driving me back onto anti-depressants. She is much better now, but I still feel like I have to tiptoe around her and not rock the boat. I hope you survive the visit intact and I'm glad you liked the present idea
I've been down to the local village with my friend and her son, so that is today's exerciseI got some chocolate hearts for 25p a bag in Co-op to add to the mini Easter eggs, but then spent the savings on the first Jersey royals of the year from the green grocers. I nearly fell through the floor when she said £4.95 for 700g of them  I'm going to hoard them and refuse to share them with anyone. I would much rather eat them than the chocolate as I love the things.
I suppose I had better think about what to feed everyone for dinner. I might make toad in the hole to keep everyone happy.
Take care everyone xxxx0 -
Maryb:- I'm all for a bit of butter! I have just bought a Hot X Bun Loaf and am going to toast some and butter it with L*rpak!
I read yesterday that research has showed that eating healthily does not stop you getting fat!
Over 25 years ago a large group of us, sitting around a campfire, did a taste test. Butter versus Cl*ver. Toast cooked on the campfire, two loaves of bread and 1/2 lb of butter later, Butter won! :j
It seems a shame that Weezl74 has stopped posting. I do hope it's not because of negative comments. I used to enjoy reading her meal ideas .:(
Byatt:- I agree, fabulous creatures, just don't want to be dinner!
PIC:- I hope the day goes well for you. In the past I have struggled with my relationship with my Mam. It can be a real blight in your life. I think the mantra goes:- 'I will not turn into my Mam! I am a nicer person than she is! I will have a large glass of wine later'
Give your four legged and two legged (include Hubby) a big hug tonight and reflect on how lucky you are in the important people/animals in your life.
SDG:- How much! That's dreadful, am relieved I don't like them!Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
For some reason over the last year I have become very restless in my sleep; have fallen out of bed a few times as a result, and been very confused and disoriented. Last night I found myself hunting for my pillows, felt on the floor but couldn't feel them. As I became fully compos mentis, I opened my eyes and looked around and realised I was lying at the end of the bed, stretched out width ways!!! My pillows were where they should be at the top of the bed.:rotfl:
Goodness knows what I look like with all this moving about!0 -
Oh Byatt - you did make me laugh. DS2 when he was little used to 'burrow' in his sleep. Many's the time he's woken us up crying 'cos he couldn't find his way out. Funniest was when we uncovered him & he sat up & said 'Quick Dad - they're going to chop it off' He couldn't remember in the morning so we never did find out what was going to be chopped offSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
-
Silva, I like the word burrowing; that is exactly it! I've also woken myself up with shouting something bizarre and once I even screamed! Just as well I live alone I think. :rotfl:
Bless you DS's heart.0 -
I love Lurpak's pale creamy colour but it's not always grass fed and I prefer that if I can get it. Kerrygold was on special offer in Waitrose for ages but they never had a ticket advertising it. I now have the European butter mountain safely residing in my freezer. At £2.20 for 2 it was cheaper than value. Waitrose, surprisingly, is often the cheapest supermarket for butter. It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
