I found out when I made a yoghurt cake. I don't know where the recipe is but you could probably find one on the 'net. Applesauce is also a substitute for fat as well as sugar.
If you add yoghurt to flour something amazing happens, try it.

My OH was saying the other day that there was a call for footballers wages to drop 20% to make it more affordable, I replied that I think their wages should drop TO 20%.

I've just filleted some sardines for the first time. Took the fish by the tail so to speak, read up on Goog£e, and set to. Tried not to look them in the eye. They were on YS so couldn't ask at the fish counter. Seems you don't get a lot of fish for the effort, but they are marinading now in olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, pepper and onion.

BTW for anyone who likes Philly soft cheese they are £1 in Mr T's right now and there is a £1 coupon for money off on the coupon thread.

Had an annoying time with bank; in their effort to prevent fraud they refused to pay a bill!! The bill has now had £12 added to it because of banks refusal. The payment had been going out fine, so not sure what their problem is!

    OMG, You're all still here!!!:T

Hello, missed these threads, been busy with LIFE and debts and stuff and....everything!

Trying to lose weight (and failing at the mo - 2 colds in a month, my ribs hurt from coughing so much) but lost enough that none of my clothes fit now and can't afford new ones, worried about my dad (70 yrs old and suffering with gout in his feet so he's pretty much confined to his bedroom!), work has dried up so I'm having to eBay anything that's not nailed down, I have gum disease which is causing me pain and tooth movement, and I find my 'happy' in a bottle of wine, which I know doesn't solve anything and just puts me more into debt and weight and is the rocky road to ill-health...!

Anyway, moan over, hopefully my home grown veggies will flourish this year (all got fungus and blight in 2011) and I manage to save for a rainy day. I have dreams of a small piece of land and a cottage near the sea, where I have cats and chickens and veggies and sell my home-grown outside the front gate with an honesty box...

    One day

*off to read the whole thread now!*

Thanks Grandma, your post motivated me, forced me out of my passiveness which sometimes hits me, so I have emailed them! :D

byatt good for you. Well done. I hope they are reasonable, it was their mistake so they should pay and if the payment has gone through before without a problem then they haven't a leg to stand on.
  • Could somebody tell me how long to soak dried chickpeas for...and then how long to cook them for, please? I've managed to pick up a big bag that has no instructions on it....do I need salt at any stage?

    Thanks :)
