MEME 30 - Love your comment that Mrs Chips END IS IN SIGHT! - Reminds me of a phone conversation years age when DD1 was little and we had ordered her a stereo system from our local branch of Currys. Phone converation went 'Good afternoon Madam, I'd like to tell you that your hour has come.' - 'Excuse me?' - 'Your hour has come Madam' - (Thinks at this point who is this idiot or is it really the voice of the almighty giving me a pre warning?) - yes 'Madam, this is Currys and the Aiwa Stereo System that you ordered is now waiting for you in the shop!'- Mmmmmm food for thinks!0

Having ten minutes before I spring in to action/struggle to get out of the chair
Mrschip:- Lovely that the end is in sight for you (ok that doesn't sound right!!!) I mean the move of course!:p
Kitcat:- Well done on the party front, sounds a bit hectic for you this week but these are children's memories you are weaving. Very important! Keys!... good one!:)
GreyQueen:- Have closed eyes in attempt not to have them burnt out by your lovely/lurid nightwear!_pale_
Had a bu88er of a day yesterday. DD1 announced she is pregnant again, we were thrilled of course. Docs seeing her lately cos of abdominal pain sent her to hospital to check for ectopic pregnancy. Six hours, two scans and blood tests later, a doctor told her she was going to use her case as an example to her students! On the stupidity of sending someone in early pregnancy for a scan! Gp sounded right to be concerned to me. Hospital doc was scornful and up her own ****. DD very upset, took whole shine out of the day.
I think a lot of docs up the hospital are up their own doodah! they forget your GP knows you as a person and knows what you are like as they talk to you, I trust my GP and he never doubts what I tell him as he knows I have to be really suffering to bother him.Hobsons_Choice wrote: »Been having a few grot days lately, my back's been really bad (spinal stenosis) and doing the most mundane things has been a struggle. I tried going for a slow walk yesterday and spent the rest of the day flat out on the sofa.
Sofa so good.
Bit better today, but not attempting anything too bendyness.
My potatoes are chitting nicely (sounds like a medical condition) but we had quite a frost last night so they can stay in their safe, warm little egg boxes.
OH sat on his glasses yesterday and has bent the frame, so has to go to the opticians to see if they can be fixed. Hope so, frames are SO expensive!
If I ruled the world I would take the bankers bonuses and spend a huge chunk on spinal research. The misery and pain caused is unbearable and I hope you feel better soon.
The prices going up  we used to buy Sainsbobs value hot choc at 34p and it has gone up nearly every week. Last week we went to stock up and they had changed the make (not as nice) and put it up to 90p :eek: Needless to say this will now be used as a treat rather than a replacement for coffee.

ETA SIX WEEKS ONE DAY without a fag so approximately £60 saved so far........yeah!!!0 -

Well done PIC
I think part of the problem with doctors is that selection for medical school is primarily on academic results. My DB who is now a GP didn't get the A levels he needed, but was given his place based on other factors. He's very empathetic (well, with his patients) and listens.
I've been ill for a month now... last saw a GP two weeks ago, and although they're happy to call me, prescribe and even sign me off, I haven't been examined for two weeks and they don't think there is any point in me going into the surgery. I've just called the private GP service I have access to through work, as I'm not sure this is right...0 -

Have you got a Mr.M's near you? If so they do a value 1 at 48/9p[not sure of top of head which 1]hth
And well done on keeping off the cig's.£71.93/ £180.000 -
Had to go shopping today and once again the price rises send chills down my spine - things I bought two days ago have increased 10/20p. Not to mention fact that diesel has gone up again!!
My friend is buying a house currently, I have had misgivings all the way through about the house itself and the area but couldnt tactfully tell her - situation is strained by involvement of others who are acting not in her interest but she has yet to see that. Have sat back and said little but yesterday she discovered it needs major works she cannot afford - she then tried getting all sort of specialist quotes - ended up saying bluntly - what is the point after paying for the quotes/surveys you couldnt afford even basic work. Left it at that.
Then noticed apartment near us that is perfect but didnt like to say anything - but this morning she called to ask me to view apartment with her - am so relieved. Theres a fine line between honesty with friends and allowing them to make mistakes.
Meme - ectopic pregnancies are so dangerous - your gp was right to be concerned and send her just in case, better safe than sorry, hospital doctors can be right daft sometimes.0 -
Thanks everyone, I just felt like bursting this morning! It does not matter how old my children get I still want to bash the person who has hurt them! Not sure if I will ever grow out of that!
PIC:- six weeks is just great, especially when they have been so tough for you.:)
Maryb:-I always find potatoes grow their roots better when they are in darkness. Always reminds me of Carl Rogers 'striving to grow'. sorry off on a person centred therapy tangent! Thanks for your thoughts on ectopic, it's such a worry. DD's pain is still there but they will wait another four weeks before scanning again! 'Not worth it till then!' :wall:
Have taken my 'far too small'/shrunk!? clothes to a place that buys them off you. I recycled the money into a Memory Foam Pillow. It's very firm/solid, and extraordinarily heavy! I'm hoping it's going to be kind to my crunchy neck vertebrae, but it has the consistancy of a sandbag! I could always use it to deter an unwary burglar I suppose. :rotfl:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
meme, so glad your daughter is alright. Maybe she should mention to her GP what the Dr at the hospital said. Needs to be addressed. xxx0

Well done on the fags! As most of you know, dad is in hospital and has been for 6 weeks now. Last weeks issue was that, in his sleep, he bashed his hand on the metal bedside. So badly that he hasn't been able to weight bear on it for a week. Yesterday the consultant told him it was gout! :rotfl:Apparently dad had a full scale argument with her saying what he'd done, but no, gout is what is now written in his notes! Someone on another thread, who lives in Australia, said that over there the GP controls everything. All follow up appointments after seeing a consultant are through your GP so they get to see the whole picture.
Lordy but i'm tired. One night out and an early start and i'm fit for nowt. Still got home from work early and OH is away as it's his mothers birthday. We are having a do for her at weekend (she's 80) and i have to finish the cake. Did a tea hampery thing for her present - Cath Kidston mugs, tea, coffee, chocolate, biccies, strawberry jam on a nice tray. If i get chance, I will bake some scones to take with us.
I have potatoes chitting but not much else happening garden wise at the moment. I am away for 3 weeks in the summer and not sure who would water. Perhaps i should just go ahead and worry about that bit later.I wanna be in the room where it happens0
