It's interesting that your goggie has a voice Mrs Lurcherwalker...Mine both have voices that are quite different. My DD's say that Mattie sounds a lot like Sharon Osborne (and she uses rude words a lot) and the other one (Roxie) has had a Welsh accent since we got her (before we moved to wales) calls everyone female Mum and Male Dad and says very silly things! Mattie also can do mind-melding, where she sits and looks at you VERY intently until you do her will!

    Do other people Goggies 'talk'?

Thanks everyone. I woke up feeling sad but I did sleep well which is a good thing. A death is never a happy event but in one so young it is shocking.

Hugs for mardatha and anyone else feeling poorly.

Special thanks to doc, I haven't had a slurpy kiss in years :).

Catbells, I understand how you feel about people saying you are brave; it's really annoying. I also hate the pitying looks when I say I am doing something "alone".

I am sure you will have a wonderful experience, and come back with an amazing feeling of confidence. I hope you are able to get online when in Japan. It's funny the last few days I've been thinking of just "settling" and not hanker after travelling to foreign climes, but you have helped make me feel that maybe I could, just take a jump into the unknown. Maybe not this year, but soon. :A

    Thats the spirit Byatt!

I think its the most fabulous thing to do and not brave just fun. Takes ooomph and push and its all good Catbells. Re being alone and getting pitying looks - how many couples are trailing around with each other wishing like hell they were alone ? LOL Probly half the pitying looks are to hide deep green envy Life is short, we should cram everything in that we can .

You are right Mardatha but I hadn't thought of it like that. It makes me feel a bit more confident when I see it this way and glad to be on my own - for once!

grandma247 I hope you can get through this difficult patch and support your daughter too. My sympathy to you all. Very sad to lose a young person.

Right - where's that suitcase and my packing list and that's good the melatonin for the jet lag has just popped through the postbox. Good day wishes for you all. x
  • Grandma247; It's good that your daughter has someone to lean on in this difficult time for her.
Mar: Hope you feel better soon, maybe you should get yourself checked out though?
My DS1 did a gap year going around Asia. Well, I say "gap year", he was in his thirties, packed his job in, and just went for it. Worried the life out of me, but at the same time I was very envious of his courage.
Good on yer Catbells (any room in your backpack for me)?
    Normal people worry me.

  • Being cheeky, not read posts today yet but popping into to ask for good vibes, nothing major, totally selfish, its just for a bit more energy - I MUST put the new topsoil and compost on the ground where fruit bushes are going then plant them as I discovered last night when hubby at last brought the bags round from side of house for me to back that one of the bushes is budding, but it cannot stay where it is, about 12 bushes all crammed into a big pot where I put them when they arrived in Dec so they must go in ground today. Annoyingly I have doctors at 4pm so cannot take my time and stretch it out all afternoon and be to late afterwards. Its dull and overcast not inspiring enough to give me energy............right will catch up later I promise

    Hugs to all
Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Hi all - not been on for a while so just caught up with last few pages.
Grandma 247 - my sympathies to you & your daughter.
Mardy - hope you'll be feeling better soon
Catbells - Wow girl - you GO. You never know what's round the corner & its usually much nicer than you expect! I'm quite envious of your trip to Japan - its a country I've been fascinated about their culture.

Went to my wedding in Israel last weekend with DS1 to keep up the UK connection - makes weddings here seem very low key!! Peasyjet was the cheapest but never again - I'm 5'10'' and to sit bolt upright for 5 hours is not on. DS is 6'3'' so it was one of the most uncomfortable flights we've ever been on and I caught a tickly cough that's been keeping me awake at night- slept one night on the sofa 'cos it was so irritating. I'm not a fan of BA but I'll pay the extra next time........!
Did manage to buy 3lb of Kumquats in the Arab village - it makes lovely marmalade so that's on the agenda for this week & got DH some Medjool dates so he's a happy bunny (along with 2 bottles of his 'medicine' Southern Comfort ;)
DGD's 18th the day I got back - I was really surprised at how pleased she was with the 'montage' of photos from when she was 3hrs old, lost teeth, twirling on the swing etc up to a photo taken last year. It did take me a few hours of re-photographing old photos but well worth it.

Went to see 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel yesterday afternoon with DH - we both thoroughly enjoyed it, but with that line up of actors I dont think it could fail, Some brilliant one liners in it too. Won't repeat in case anyone else wants to see it.

Virtual Hugs to all that are in need
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
