This one, and in the whole book I've only found 5 things that I fancy doing. But I am very stick-in-the-mud-y when it comes to food0 -

Can't we just leave the history and move on?
I had a fab day's shopping on Saturday - that's shopping in the sense of spending £20 in a charity shop - 1 x pair next trousers, 1 x m&s cardi, 1 x m&s top 1 x next top and the most fantastic Wallis jacket in just the colour green that I've been looking for - I received loads of compliments on the jacket today! I smiled nicely and said "thank you" to everyone except for one of my frugal friends to whom I fessed up! :rotfl:
Then I went to a jumble sale on saturday and bought a lovely wool skirt for 50p and virtually unworn M&S foxglove shoes for £2!
I love that kind of shopping, it's the thrill of the chase!Piglet

Evening gang. If anyone finds my get up and go, could they send it back please. I am knackered this evening! I did some pootling about with the washing this morning, then popped into town to go to the bank and stuff. I also went to Mr T to avail myself of their £5 off a £40 shop - got a nice load of stuff for a smidgin over £40 and then forgot to present the ruddy voucher. Went and pleaded with Cust Service but they weren't having any of it. Grrr. Never mind 'twas all needed or on offer anyway.
Got my HFW veggie book from the post office today, they tried to deliver it Sat and got no answer - both the mancub and OH were about  Anyway shall be taking that off to my lair shortly.
Went into the butcher too, to see if he had any cheap belly of pork - he did, and was chatting about money saving cookery classes, I asked if he's anything else cheap as chips and he waved a breast of lamb at me. He sells them for £2.50, so I've got one to experiment with. He boned it for me, and I've just been looking online for a suitable recipe. Found a Morrocan inspired one on a bed of onions and chickpeas that sounds perfect. The belly of pork is to make more Red Cooked Pork (Chinese) I swear we are all seriously addicted. It's so easy (and cheap) and a little stretches a long way, as it's so savoury. I serve it wit rice or noodles and a bit of stir fry veg. I told him I'd rather send customers to him than Mr T so he was very happy. He also does gammon miscuts for about £1.30 a lb. They are seriously tasty and a real bargain!
Picked up some books for 10p each (four) and a pair of Dorothy Perkins jeans in the charity shop for £4. They look unworn to me. Very pleased with those. Also picked up some little pots with lids to make jelly and stuff in. DS and I remembered how much they (the kids) used to like them when they were small, I used to make single portions of jelly and fruit, or trifles or even milk or yoghurt jellies. We made some jelly recently using some fruit juice that needed using up, and we really enjoyed it (I did passion fruit and raspberry - a bottle of passion fruit juice dumped into a raspberry jelly to make up some of the liquid) So I sought out some pots with lids, as the last time I had to use jam jars!

Katieowl you are a star, I was just sat pondering on what to do with two bags of whoosie fruit that didn't involve much standing up. Jelly is the perfect answer, I can sit on my bum and do most of it

katie - if you have a link to the red cooked pork recipe that would be great please, I have a few packs of whoopsie belly pork that I was pondering over yesterday.
Breast of lamb my mum used to roast but I found it very fatty and it made me ill, I have since used a recipe where it has a wet mix of chopped herbs and such then rolled and cut into thin rounds before cooking, was ages ago and no idea the exacts, but worth a ponder i would have thought.0 -
Evening All
Now back in London, and well and truly bu88ered myself breathing in dust from clearing out the house. Have shifted about ten black sacks of carp outside to be disposed of and have a huge pile of clothes to fold and bag for the CS, as well as a big bag of books and videos.
Freecycling like mad, everything being bagged as soon as it's posted. I like to operate the Fair Offer policy, which does mean having to run a sort of Freecycle Bingo each morning :rotfl:. Just noticed some jam jars being offered , so have put in a bid for those - not what is supposed to happen.
Kate - which butcher is that? We had a walk round Cardi last week and will probably go there to do our shopping in future, much better than H'west. I did notice a nice looking butcher's shop with lots of veg outside - would that be him? Went to a nice bakers too, had a lovely custard tart!
I'm keeping out of the politics, I don't know anything about tax credits or benefits, but do know this lot seem to be hell bent on making sure the rich get richer and the poor know their place.
Hugs to all who need them, well done the giver uppers, everyone keep fighting the fight!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
