Thanks for that link Mardatha. Had a look on A*zon at the inside of the book and a couple of recipes sound really nice...so going to be having a try with them this week. (although using real eggs and not the dried sort )

This is the book I got in a charity shop yesterday.

Do any of the techie people know why I can't get on the internet on my smart phone? Was working fine, but nothing the past few days although wifi signal showing. Getting frustrated.

Oh thank god I'm not alone then Anguk :D - a poor wee orphan adrift in this sea of people who eat weird stuff like courgettes & aubergines & chilli & curry. To me, aubergine is a 60s posh bathroom suite and nothing else! :D
Ginny I hope he gets sorted out on friday!
I'm one of the brainy girls who never took cooking. But I bet none of you would have guessed ;)

    Good Morning everyone :)

mardatha I really don't like courgettes and aubergines, but I love chilli and curry. Thanks for the reminder that I borrowed that book from my friend and must return it soon.
katieowl I'd love the red pork recipe as well please :)

I have to admit that I'm very jealous of all the talk about proper butchers. I have a huge T*sco practically on the doorstep and a co-op and greengrocers about 15 minutes walk away, both of which are very expensive. The nearest proper butchers is in the city centre and it now costs £4 for a return bus ticket.
I have to admit that I'm not feeling wonderful at the moment, not really depressed, but more bleugh. My hair is proof of that and I must make myself have a bath today. Taking care of myself or rather the lack of it is one of my first symptoms of my black dog circling. I think it might be down to the fact that I've been watching what I eat, have stopped eating 99% of the rubbish/snacks I was before Christmas and am exercising much more.......the effect so far......nothing...zilch.......zero. Oh well, at least I'm trying.

DS1 has his interview for his College's 6th form today. Given his predicted grades and the fact he wants to study ICT, Maths, Further Maths and Physics at A-Level I don't think he will have any problems getting in. I did the mom thing and made him comb his hair and promise to speak up instead of mumbling. I wonder if he will pay any attention to me. I doubt it but live in hope.

Today's plan is to get clean and de-forest my legs, go to the library and return/renew books, remember to buy some bread and to buy DS1 new headphones and my DM's birthday present from A*gos using Nectar points. Then lots of pancakes for dinner. Some crepes filled with chicken in white sauce and then covered in cheese and baked in the oven and crepes and fluffy American style pancakes with cream and maple syrup Mmmmmmmm. Thankfully DH makes very good crepes and is happy to stand frying pancakes for everyone. :D

Time to stop waffling on and to get my not insubstanial bottom in gear. Have a wonderful day everyone xxx

    Morning Peeps!

Very wheezy, I really should not be in a dusty enviroment (it's why OH has to do the hoovering :rotfl:) but can't avoid it. I'm not asthmatic, but do suffer badly if I breath it in. I have tried using masks, but they are horrible to wear.

Freecycle - great idea, but some people are a bit frustrating! Someone was desperate for the thing I offered, since I emailed has not come back to say when he will collect - and the lady offered me the jam jars, asked when I could collect and has gone silent. Mostly people are very good, but it is a shame that it does not always go to plan. We had a number of people coming today, I hope they all turn up!

Pancakes - we love them, but only have them pancake day for some reason. However I could not resist the crepe maker last time it was in Lidl, and I must say it was a great buy. i am not one for kit that only does one job, but this can be used for far more than just making crepes (which it does very well, and you can do them at the dinner table so much less hassle and more fun!). I used to get really hot doing them the trad way, this is a breeze. I also used it for my last batch of Welshcakes, perfect.
I will also try crumpets on it, in fact anything that uses a dry hot pan to cook. And it's really easy to clean as the actual pan bit comes off the element and just needs a wipe.

Right got to crack on - more of the same, bored with it already!

We still have a fetching Primrose yellow suite and harlequin lino floor. Oh, the joys of private renting. I hate it with a passion but don't really blame the landlord for not replacing it, there's nothing wrong with it apart from the fact that it looks vile.

I had a 'fix it' evening last night, I'm terrible for keeping stuff 'in case' it can be fixed and well-meaning friends have taken to [STRIKE]dumping[/STRIKE] donating broken stuff 'in case I can use it'. I think they all think I'm a Womble. Anyway, last night I fixed:

    1) a Waterman fountain pen that I bought for 25p in a charity shop that wouldn't work. It just needed a very, very good clean. It turns out they are worth a few bob!

    2) A Jones' mantle clock that used to belong to a friend. I had planned to just switch the clock mechanism for one from a £shop twin pack, but the hands went in a different order and the £shop ones were ugly, so I ended up swapping the mechanisms, then gluing part of the old hands onto the base of the new ones. It looks good from a distance :rotfl: not too bad close up, just a little messy.

    3) A pair of knee-high boots. I think I picked these up already broken, years ago. in case I could fix them. The boot itself was coming away from the heel block so I put in a new screw and glued the heck out of it. I think that will hold - won't know until the glue dries properly - if not I'll get some different glue and try that!

    4) Fixed two drawers that the bottoms had fallen out of.

So a successful evening. Right now I am packaging up ebay sales then off to w*rk. Hope everyone has a good day xx

I have tons of eggs as the blummin chooks just won't stop laying so pancakes galore for us tonight. Found a jar of cherries so will have ago at making Little Chef style jubilee pancakes with them - I reckon I could just strain the juice, thicken with some cornflour and then wamr through the cherries....
