PIC - Years back I had a trapped nerve and permanent pins and needles in my fingers and hands for about a fortnight, it meant I couldn't do the button up on my jeans and remember standing at the loo door in the pub loudly whispering (IYKWIM) to my gay best friend to come on over and do my button up so I know exactly what you mean about the pants and yay for you!
Been a hard day for all sorts of reasons - will be looking forward to getting the kids in bed and having a wee glass of vino. Was going to do a bunch of OU stuff but don't think I have the brain power today and I'm up to date so it's not crucial if I have a skive tonight.
OH just suggested a simple dinner tonight as I'm tired so we're going to have omlette, chips and salad with eggs from my Dad, well obviously not his personal eggs, his girls (hens) laid them and they are so yummy.
Hugs to all who need them. (and scritty ears to furry friends - Mrs LW I love Doc's posts they make me smile, what a clever lad to type so well!)0 -
I've just had a clear out of my kitchen cupboards, just how many half empty jars of pickled onions does my OH need?? And three bottles of ketchup with about a tablespoon in the bottom of each one. But shock horror I realised that there is not one tin of tomatoes in the house!
I'm seriously thinking of redoing how we shop. We normally do a big shop once a fortnight with a few "pick-ups" in between but I find that the freezer and cupboards are full but nobody fancies anything for dinner. So I'm thinking about keeping a basic store cupboard and freezer with rice, pasta, chicken breasts/portions etc so I can easily rustle up a meal if I haven't been out that day but maybe going to the shops every other day to pick up fresh stuff. I guess it'll be a bit like how my granny used to shop in the days before fridges & freezers, plus I'll hopefully be able to pick up more reduced things.
I'll still stock up on some things in bulk like I do now, toilet rolls, rice, cat food etc stuff that I get from Makro or if it's on offer but I'm sick of buying a big pack of something so it'll last and finding it needs to be chucked out because it hasn't been eaten, or OH will throw something in the trolley because he fancies it then it sits in the fridge for weeks.Dum Spiro Spero0 -
Haribo what a great idea! keep looking and so shall I, and if we can come up with a list we're laughing!!
anguk i'm going back to shopping once a week while i can. I'm working down the coast 50 miles away once a week, and they have a tesco metro. I'm planning to utilise this and just keep a stock of basics and work to a weekly shopping list. I'm finding now my kids are young adults that if I shop for a month they eat everything early in the month and we run out - they're both great cooks - when they were younger I used to be able to "hide" stuff in the freezer.0 -

The forum format is changing this week so we will probably see a few glitches.
Still dizzy here, and to top it off new sky box broken!!! Have spoken to engineer who sounded like he wanted to cry - did tell him no offence, but was hoping never to see you againhe said I know I can tell.:rotfl:
Just realised its pancake day tomorrow, and i haven't bought extra milk  we usually use at least 50 pancakes so six batches of batter - 3 pints of milk, I think from memory. So will need extra shopping tomorrow. Not good as had to have yet another puncture repaired on little car and another new tyre as the second puncture was in non repairable place. This means in seven months we have had more punctures and new three than in the other 17years of owning the car put together. :eek:0 -
For those who don't like the way bodyparts start deteriorating after 40, spare a thought for those of us over 60, crumbling teeth, can't see, can't hear & worst of all I'm growing a beard, oh & I have a gammy knee, though that was caused by the little darlings at work smashing me to the floor whilst playing silly beggers.
