Was absolutely bowled over by the number of pizzas delivered to people watching the movie - cannot believe the cinema sell pizzas to eat whilst watching the film or the prices - it would be cheaper to have dominos deliver I think
Is it too much to ask that if GPs are changing their appointment systems they should write to their customers and inform them -after all I expect the same if my power company change their procedures.?
Pizza at the cinema - eurgh I can't think of anything worse than paying to watch a film surrounded by the smell of other peoples' food. I've not been to the cinema in years - I'm quite pleased about that now!
It should not be too much to ask but sadly it seems to be. I am lucky with my surgery but my mum and sister are not. It is near impossible to get an appointment in less than a week's time - my mother is seriously ill and my sister is her full-time carer! When I told her what you told me about them having to see carers she was really annoyed - she specifically asked once if she could be seen as there's nobody nearby to help my Mum if she gets ill - they said no  She said next time she needs an appointment she's going armed with this knowledge!0 -
Wow, thanks everyone for all your suggestions and comments re weaning and activities. I have thanked you all I think, too many people to mention by name but I will be trying all the suggestions. In fact, I added some pureed carrot to his spag bol today and guess what - he ate 6 or 7 spoonfuls!! Still had to use distraction techniques but he ate it! He is good with finger food as long as it isn't veg... but he is still gaining weight at the rate he was before so I should probably try to relax a bit - as you say, they pick up on stress.
Gardenia, that must have been such a worry for you with your DD. At least it helped to know it wasn't just you she wouldn't eat for. Hubby finds mealtimes stressful but I think that's because he isn't here as often and so doesn't get the practice.
We try to eat meals together when we can, although during the day it's just me and baby. And yes, it can be quite boring at times! He has a settling in session at the nursery on Thursday - dreading leaving him but also think it will do him and me good to have some time away from each other. I go back to work part time in a couple of months so hoping that will give us a good balance.
One thing I have done is put together a photo album of important people in his life - particularly my parents and brothers family as they live in another part of the country and he won't see them very often. I need some pics of my mum and sister in laws family to go in it. He seems to enjoy looking at it and hoping if he sees their faces every day they will be familiar to him when we visit. And hopefully he will learn their names. At the moment he calls everyone and everything dada!0 -

BYATT: Well done on your whoopsie hunt yesterday.
As far as children eating/not eating is concerned, my DS was weaned straight onto whatever we were eating blended and then mashed etc as he got older, and would eat anything. But at 18 months got really faddy and as a child had a very limited diet. He is now grown up and eats most things and very healthily and is a big strapping lad. With hindsight I would say don't worry and just offer food and if they don't eat they don't eat. That's not to say that I didn't worry at the time.
Another thing is that the health visitors change their advice over time. So what my mum did, was wrong when I had mine and what I did will be wrong with those giving out the advice today. But we all grew up okay didn't we? So our mums couldn't have been that wrong.

Thankyou for your post PAH you are an absolute STAR ! On Saturday after the kind posters gave me ideas as to where I may find black shoe dye I tried an ironmongers and they had some at £4.99 but only in red and beige so I left it and planned to continue my search on Monday. Then Elona posted that it was on line at over £3 ( thankyou for your post,Elona,) but when you posted I thought it was worth a try.Went to Mr.M and picked up some reduced smoked fish at the same time, yesterday afternoon and got two bottles of M Scuff Cover at 89p each. Done both pairs as per your instructions Result one pair of formally pink and blue deck shoes and one pair of pale blue ordinary flat shoes are both looking very smart and BLACK. I haven't even used all of the first bottle and have even dyed a white pair of laces for the deck shoes too. Did a test run to Mr A this morning in the rain and the Deck shoes are still black and my feet are still white. Can't thank you enough. Jac xx0

Hi, everyone, Mrs Lurcherwalker, your Doc posts put a smile on my face; hope you have a lovely time in Scottlyland.
I've kind of " crashed & burned" mood wise and have just got out of bed; haven't even eaten today, not wanted to, not usually seen in this hemisphere. Just feel like a heavy weight is on my chest and as I recognise now that this is the first step towards the slippery slope so need to take some type of action. I guess. Brain fog in the extreme. Anyway, I may be MIA for a few days, so hugs and more to you all. xx0 -
Hey Byatt, just to say I always enjoy reading your posts. Hopefully you will start to feel better soon x'You've got to tell your money what to do or it will leave!' Dave Ramsey0

Aaarg...been MIA for a bit, busy all weekend prepping, and did my first 'workshop' at work today, it was fully booked for 10 kids, but 14 turned up  We fitted them all in, and I raided the kitchen for extra supplies, and sent them all home with a fab box of choccies they'd made! Made surprising little mess and they all seemed to find it fascinating. Mixed group of ages, from 4 to about 12 years of age, littlies assisted by mummies. Work very pleased! Some of the older kids turned out some fab stuff!
We made cake based truffles, shapes with pink and white choc and dipped fruit/nuts/ginger.
I must say I'm loving this working lark. A couple of weekends back, it was quite quiet, there we were listening to Nora Jones, I'm icing a carrot cake on a wet Saturday afternoon, and getting paid for it :T Should have done cooking stuff years ago...totally in my comfort and love zone!
Now have a nice glass of winepoured for me by my baby, who will be 20 on Wednesday :eek: (that's a double EEK BTW) and about to have dinner and put my feet up!

Byatt (((hug))) You know you do need to take some action. Once you start it will be easier than you think. And it will help to lift your mood once you know you are actively trying to change things. It's hard but it will help. If you need any support, practical or emotional, remember we are all here for you xxx0
