SDG, wonderful news about your son. Well done to all the family. It shows what can be done; it's a shame that the education system does not support all children who need the extra help. It seems they don't think of the long term and getting jobs or being independent, which the right education can give.

Thanks for all the suggestions and support regarding fire incident, I will contact the fire men but just need to tidy a bit. :o
  • SDG: Only two rolls of toilet paper left? I can see you having to cut the newspaper up into squares and hanging it on the back of the door with a nail!
Noticed at M***isons today that the path nearest the store was clear, but still snow and ice on the further walkways. Maybe they ran out of grit or staff, I don't know (never seem to be enough staff on the tills anyway). Could have had a 'slip' I s'pose and contacted compen-say-shun lawyers. That'd teach 'em!!!
"Up to" 10cms promised for us tomorrow night/Friday morning, but me cupboards are well stocked - plus toilet rolls! No porridge on the shelves at Mr Ms though :(
    Normal people worry me.

Hi SDG - Yes, they are in our game-plan, I have done some internet research and know that it is getting more popular - I guess because it's a bit fun and (relatively) cheap. I was thinking that we could go do things like printed boxes (or specially printed newssheet), and napkins. We are not limited to fish and chips, so can offer lots of different menus, I'm willing to try anything! And how proud you must be of your son!

Hope you are feeling better Kidcat, we are all allowed a weepy day every now and then, it's the law!

We had some terrible snow last year, very unusual for us being SE London. Twice the snow came down and settled so quickly there was no choice about driving in it. The second time I was in the car on my own and driving down very hilly side roads. Within minutes the roads we impassable, every turn was either up or down a nasty hill and parked cars everywhere, along with the cars that had diverted off the blocked main road. At one point I was on a corner where left was down about a 1:3 hill, right was up similar and the only safe way to go was back. Getting the car turned around in the road was hellish, and then I had to negotiate back passed everyone behind me. I have to say I had a huge grin on my face when I got home, I was so proud to have been able to do it without crashing the car or bottling it and walking :D. Now if only I could reverse park! :rotfl:

On the subject of mammograms - it may be B. uncomfortable but its only for 30secs at a time & better than the alternative.........! I've been hearing that they say the amount of ops that are done because 'something' is detected is too high as sometimes the 'booger' could be very slow growing. I'm sorry - slow growing or nor I want it out PDQ!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

No particular reason, my friend you have been through the mill this past while with son and family, and through it you kept strong for everyone and now you are a relaxing a bit its hitting you, weep, those tears will do you a power of good. Its grief really of some hopes being taken, your reality is different to what we all hope it will be at the beginning and so don't be ashamed of these tears. You are now starting down a different path but a wonderful one, but you need to grieve for the other path.

I don't know if that makes sense I know what I want to say but finding it hard to put into words.

Simply cry, and know you are loved here as well as by your family, and you have plenty of support around you ( both virtual and physical)

Hugs and Love my friend( I hope you don't mind calling you that but I feel you all here are my friends)

    Well said:)
Grief, that's exactly what it is. Big hugs :grouphug:

PS:- SDG I would be in a 'Muck Sweat' if I only had two loo rolls left! Am breaking out just thinking about it!!
    - BYATT- so pleased to hear you are ok, fire is my big nightmare. did your neighbour apologise to you?
Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”

Grandma247: When will these people enter the real world do you think?
Kidcat: Aaah, we all have weepy days babe. Sometimes things just get too much. Stick a DVD on and stick a finger up at the world!!!
Byatt: Can't believe anyone would be so stupid....erm....oh yes, can think of a couple that I know!
In our (relatively small) market town, we have most of the superstores: Messrs T, S and M. Plus Aldi, M&S and a small Asda (but a large one planned for next year). So how come, whichever one we visit, on whichever day, it's blimmin' packed! Have to park the car about three minutes walk away on the carpark and dodge trollies laden with enough food to withstand a siege!
I think I'll have to start shopping late at night, I keep getting supermarket rage:mad:.

The free parking on Mr T, S and M is the downfall, people park on there to wonder into town. If you can get down before 10am or after 6 then it's normally deserted. You don't have to pay on the Aldi car park after 6.30pm. I've found the shelves are always full at these times.

I was a lucky girl this birthday, I got Mary Berry's Complete Cookbook half price (£12.50 in WHSmiths but free with a gift voucher I was given. :T

I am so sorry if I have induced lack of toilet rolls based panic attacks in people. I promise that I will be stocking up tonight or tomorrow morning and swear to double my tinned tomato stash as penance.
  • You are all such fab, supportive people :)

I had an email to say my mega-order of Andrex will be here early next week. I might have enough to build myself a little fort with :D

I am on a bit of an emotional one today, but for a nice reason. My dad sent me a lovely card to say get well. Silly person sent some money to us to try and help out, but that's not what made me cry (although it's a lovely gesture). He said in it he wants me to take OH for a meal to thank him for looking after me. He wrote "tell him I will forever appreciate the loyalty and support he gives you". I will always appreciate OH as well, of course, and I know it hasn't been easy for him since I got ill. My dad and OH never used to get along very well, but now they understand each other and I thought it was so sweet that he thought of OH. I don't really know what I'm trying to say here. Just how wonderful it is when two people that you love understand why you love them I suppose.

I have this - it's good! We had the five-spice duck earlier this week and we've got hot and spicy lamb stew tomorrow (all whoopsied meat, obviously :D)

Thank you so much, another weep or two later and am now exhausted but much less weepy.

Once again the support here humbles me, when RL friends have turned away you have all stood firm and I truly appreciate that. :A:A
