I am so sorry if I have induced lack of toilet rolls based panic attacks in people. I promise that I will be stocking up tonight or tomorrow morning and swear to double my tinned tomato stash as penance.

I must admit to a sharp intake of breath when I read your post . I can't explain why, but I'd be feeling a little uneasy if I only had a few - even though I'm within a quick dash to 2 shops, on a bus route to town & my milkman will deliver them :D

I am on a bit of an emotional one today, but for a nice reason. My dad sent me a lovely card to say get well. Silly person sent some money to us to try and help out, but that's not what made me cry (although it's a lovely gesture). He said in it he wants me to take OH for a meal to thank him for looking after me. He wrote "tell him I will forever appreciate the loyalty and support he gives you". I will always appreciate OH as well, of course, and I know it hasn't been easy for him since I got ill. My dad and OH never used to get along very well, but now they understand each other and I thought it was so sweet that he thought of OH. I don't really know what I'm trying to say here. Just how wonderful it is when two people that you love understand why you love them I suppose.

    Aw, that is lovely.

Mrs Chip - one of the most enjoyable wedding receptions I went to had fish & chips from the local chippy for a wedding lunch. The reception was in the local pub (in Porth, RCT) & it was just such a personal, intimate day. It was a second wedding for both of them, & they had both had the traditional big weddings first with other partners, so this was a more relaxed (& very MSE) affair. Think they also had veg curry & roast chicken & chips. Yum. If ever I was mad enough to get married again, I think I'd like F&C for a select few - can't see it happening though :rotfl:
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...

PHEW! I had lost this thread and have tried my best to catchup! Love the support and tips on here!
We have been v lucky weather wise here, not even frosty but quite cold. People talking about YAKTraks - reminded me of back in the day when I had to walk to the bus stop in bad winter weather, very frightened of falling and embarassing/hurting myself, my mum used to tell me to get an old pair of socks and wear them OVER my shoes/boots and I would'nt do it for vanity reasons.Years later older and wiser I tried this and IT WORKED REALLY WELL! No more aching limbs as would have been all tensed up incase I fell! And really why worry what others think or even notice what you have on your feet!:T:T:T Hope this helps someone!

For people getting low on toilet roll, I noticed in Iceland yesterday a brand called Petal Soft - 4 rolls for a £1. It looked like good quality quilted type. I didn't buy any as we have a loft full from a Costco offer, but will be bearing it in mind for the future.

My DD gets those, and they are very good quality. She hauls loads home for herself and I got some for the first time last weekend. Is there a panic on? :rotfl:I'm regretting not getting ones that were on offer at Mr T's on tuesday now!

Chocomum, you reminded me of my mum telling me to do that as a child. I did and it worked but they also got very soggy. Mind you I was out playing in it!

    meme, no, no apology.

Scrabbles, that choked me up. What a lovely dad :A.(I envy you having your dad around).

A kind of step forward for me; with something as simple as making a meal. When ex left I kind of gave up on cooking; had no interest or desire and for the most part just flung something together with the easiest of ingredients. For a while lived on ready meals because I just couldn't cook. I either microwaved or... microwaved. Today I made dinner with YS pork strips and put in YS blue cheese from Xmas, some leftover bbq sauce lurking in the fridge, YS new potatoes, left over red cabbage from Xmas, it needed trimming...left over swede from Xmas...some apple & cider chutney from my DD...some water and popped in the oven. It was gorgeous. Just so chuffed that it tasted good and that I had made some kind of effort. And I had not wasted anything. Felt a bit more like the old me. :T

Gailey, if you are out there you are missed. Hope you are well.

I know there are others too, like Wen...I'm not good with remembering names, so if I haven't mentioned you, it's not because I don't care...if you are all lurking, hugs all round. :A

I've just spent £20 on seeds  But they are from The Real Seed Company, so I should be able to save seed and grow the plants again next year, and the year after that, and the year after that .... so looking at it that way, it's not too bad .....

And is it sad to be very excited about seeds? I can't help myself!!

lots of big hugs to all those that need them.

byatt I am glad you are ok, fire is frightening. I would recommend you do talk to the firebrigade person responsible for safety checks. They will be able to give you some ideas for your safety.

Re: the link I put up earlier. I do not think these people will ever understand the real world. I was horrified by what I heard. Can you imagine it in a few years, university graduates having not only their loans from that to pay but also another £10,000 for childcare as well:eek:
They keep talking about getting rid of the deficite and yet they are trying to push as many people as possible into impossible debt. Irresponsible does not even come close.
Never before have young people had so much debt and they struggle now, it is only going to get worse.
