PAH (((hug))) I'm not the expert here, others have given you sound advice, just wanted to let you know I'm here for you. One thing I am really good at is writing letters of complaint, if you need it! Also could you involve the local press?
Also, also, there is a thing called the Local Government Ombudsman, you have to complain to your council itself first then you escalate it to them. It can also be very interesting to read the annual reports for your council as you can see how many complaints there are, how many are successful etc.0 -
Do you know I am sitting here in tears reading all your kind replies, I have never had anyone I can say all this to and understand how I feel and be angry on my behalf. In my family it was always me everyone would phone and want a shoulder to cry on, even friends saw me as the strong one. PAH can cope, she will sort it, she deals with everything no need to give her comfort, even when my daughter died all my mum went on about was how she nearly lost me at 9 months and how I was in hospital for two months and she was not allowed to see me and how that was basically worse than me losing my daughter. ( Sorry next month it would have been her 30th birthday so I always start to get a bit down around now till then)
Hubby has always left all finances to me and just accepts what he is told pay by anyone and asks me why I bother fighting - this is the guy how has accepted the auto renew for the car each year even though I found cheaper quotes, this year at last he will accept whatever quote I give him as he knows I will search for the cheapest.
Just knowing you are all there behind me is so wonderful.
I have just contacted Raise the benefits charity that sent someone to fill in my ESA transfer form, I left a message asking if he could contact me to help me over HB/CTB claim as he said if hubby's wages went lower contact him to check if we could become entitled to those benefits and I totally forgot about that. So will hopefully hear from him today and I know he can get the forms, as he brought some with him when he came to fill out my ESA form but we were not entitled to any help then. I will mention to him what happened in 2005 and see what he says.
GQ he must work for something similar to you - this agency is funded by mine and few other HAs so at least the advisor's are working for us.
Hugs and Love to each and every one of you:A:A:A:A:A:A:A:A:A:A:A:ANeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Gums...try getting some Gingigel gel. Boots sell it. It does help, my mum suggested it to me. I had appalling toothache a few months ago, and the dentist says it's my gums not my teeth. Corsidol made it worse for me, so I'm using another mouthwash now, I really must look into making some myself using some essential oils (James Wong has a recipe).
But the Gingigel did soothe them - it's not cheap mind you, but it was three for two when I bought it.

Thanks I will get hubby to take me to boots when he comes home, I think I need to get out and get some fresh air no matter how tired and urg I feel.
I must look up the essential oils recipe, I used to have a fantastic book that contained recipes for just about everything but I leant it to a friend, this was years ago, who without asking me leant it to a friend of hers who lost it, and as its out of print I keep hoping I will see on in CS but no luck so far, as I love using ES and enjoying making my own mixes.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Good to see you back, Mardywhotsit.
PAH good to see you are getting great advice here - I know what you mean about being the one that copes. I am always thought of as that - and yet, in reality, i am probably the one closest to the edge. I am sure my gravestone will say "here lies VJsmum - who coped".
Dad news not good - he is back in critical. So I have cancelled work today (including teaching which I would never usually miss) and am going to see him. I am very much afraid that leaving it until tomorrow will be too late.
Can't concentrate or settle on anything. Just having a last cuppa before heading to the station.
Mardatha - I am loving your 3 more weeks to plod through, I always look forward to March.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
PAH - I can't believe what your LA are trying to do :eek: - it's absolutely appalling, you fight the boogers all the way hun.
As for the woman you spoke to, please report her, make a formal complaint, its disgusting that she thinks she can speak to anybody like that. As Mrs Chip says, can you find out if they record the calls and get a copy? I'd say head to the National press with it if you could get a copy.
Just a quick word of comfort re the bleeding gums. When I gave up smoking 5 years ago (yippee, I never thought I'd be able to say that!), I found that my gums were very tender and bled easily for a little while. My dentist was sceptical about it being the non-smoking that caused it but my smoking cessation nurse told me it was a known side effect. Good luck with it hun.0 -
So sorry VJsmum - will be thinking of you today ((((hugs))))Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

PAH I wanted to cry for you when I read your post but am too angry. I knew GQ would have a good answer. Also you can try Shelter here ,you can even tell your story, if you scroll to the end there is a link.
My oldest has a good job but they struggle through no fault of their own and the story is too long to tell but I know how hard it must be for you both.
We might have been in a similar position but had a late baby and will still have him dependant when dh retires so we do get tax credits for him which help.
Hugs vjs mum.0 -
VJs Mum: Sorry to hear about your dad ((((((hugs)))))) to you.
PAH: Amazing - so many good people who can't get jobs, and the LA seems to have appointed a dipstick! Good luck to you and don't let the b**tards grind you down!!Normal people worry me.0 -
Just caught up and feel so angry on your behalf PAH, we are all backing you. It can be utterly exhausting fighting your corner so do take care of yourself, especially as you approach a sad annviersary. Hugs to you and anyone else in need of them, especially VJ's mum.
Not much to say today, worried about predicted snowfall, used to love it but now I have a baby I worry about falls or getting stranded. Got to go out tomorrow and worried about driving. Will have to take it steady and see how it goes.
More washing to sort. B&T have used a dehumidifier once when we had a leak in the flat we first lived in and I seem to recall it was excellent but I'm not sure we can afford one right at the moment. We have mould growing on the ceiling in the spare room though so need to do something about it. It's something I've always lived with, mum used to have to wipe the windows every day and I guess I just accepted it as something that happens. It's not too bad today.
Keep warm everyone!0
