:rotfl:@ D&DD - I know exactly what you mean, OH's one drives me doolally tap. He passes it over and the screen rotates or shrinks, then he shouts at me!
Smiley - trust you to come up with the most lurid scenario, such a vivid imagination;):D
Will look at the list Kate, but can't recall any recent spills. I have put it on the radiator to dry, then it's going down in it's old room - this is becoming a bit of a scientific experiment now, so not letting OH wash it yet!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
stillstruggling if you pay the bailiffs then they keep a percentage of what you pay and the debt takes ages to reduce. The debt free board will have better advice, but basically if you ignore the bailiffs and don't answer the door to them then they will refer it back to the council tax department as uncollectable. You will then be able to make an arrears agreement to pay on top of your ordinary council tax (or as February and March are council tax free months you may be able to pay it in full). Big hug to you.0

Sounds like lots of us are feeling 'Rubbish' today. my Fibro is 'acting' it's self today too!
Mind you I had my first Neck Traction today! Picture if you will, a 54 year old, over- weight 6ft tall woman lying on a narrow bed with legs folded over a stool placed on bed ( I can't lie flat!)Something that looked like a Dr Whites (showing my age!) under my chin and going back to traction machine. Thank God I could keep my clothes on! Was such a good patient they want me back every week! It's a good thing I have given up being dignified I a sight to behold today.:rotfl:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -

Stillstruggling remember if you are not receiving council tax benefits and your are entitled to them then the council will have to call the baliff off while they work out what it is you owe, as it will be less Phone for a form then phone the late payment section and tell them you have just found out you think you are entitled to CTB and so can they call back the account from the bailiffs while its sorted - they most likely will moan, but if you have already asked for a form and explain hubbys low wage - Remember DLA cannot be included in income at all for any reason for any benefit not even Income Support or JSA. if you have been paying regularly then you can point this out and say this month was just a blip and you never knew you could get CTB. Just remember do not let them in the house not under any circumstances, if they say they are having a heart attack and need to sit in your lounge let them sit on the ground outside the door and tell them you will call an ambulance ( someone on here ages ago had a baliff try that trick to get in their house, when they said sorry they can't come in suddenly they got better) they seem to like trying to trick you so open door to everyone with chain on and only take it off if you know whoever it is. Oh yes till this is resolved do not park your car in your drive or outside your house as they can put that down as goods they will seize - the DFW thread is full of advice on how to deal with bailiffs, sorry if this advice adds to your stress but better to know what to do if they come back. You also want full details of bailiff, who he works for and then there is a register on-line where you can check if he is registered with the firm he says he is - someone on DF Board is going through something similar to you and there is so great advice being given, will find the thread and post the link for you.

That is the most recent thread dealing with bailiffs - gives the info hallowitch has given you and more, its a current thread only been going a few days - frightening to see so many people having problems and most decent honest people who just don't have enough income to live never mind have luxuries.....got to admit I am keeping all the info on bailiffs just in case in future it happens to us. These days you cannot have to much information at your fingertips just in case.

Stillstruggling and anyone else having trouble with debts I can really recommend going over to the DFW board. They are a great bunch and non-judgemental, most of us started out on there!
MrsChipglad I'm not the only one that just doesn't get the hysteria surrounding that flamin' gadget!!
My eyes are still like this
Sorry to hear how many are having off days and Meme ouch that sounds like a form of medieval torture woman:eek: Main thing is does it help at all??0 -
stillstruggling if you put your details into the turn2us website it will tell you are likely to have any chance of council tax reduction, dont forget there is a possibility of reduction due to disability if you meet certain criteria too. Def worth a look.
If you have only missed Januarys payment then if you contact the council direct they can often call the account back and allow you to pay them directly. Our council will allow you to call it back once only per year and then only if you agree to DD in future payments - worth asking if thats possible. Explain you forgot and would like to arrange a DD for future so you dont forget again.0 -
