Afternoon everyone. Hugs for those that need them. Still no sign of the yellow ball in the sky here, and we have the strong winds back. Still, last storm demolished so much fencing there's not much left to knock over :rotfl:
The said new car has already started to cost and now has a water leak thats coming from the thingy, whatsamer flipper
Sorry you're having everything happen at once. For the leak you could try Radweld. Used it very successfully on an old Ford Escort once - no more leaks and ran quite happily for another two years before it was traded in. Halfords are selling it:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_743657_langId_-1_categoryId_255217

You may find it cheaper elsewhere. Meantime make sure OH has a bottle of water in the car for top ups - I had a radiator run try and its much more expensive to sort then ( £100s )

Glad you felt able to share in your post - everyone is very friendly and supportive here - even though I mostly lurk.

Good luck

Morning to everyone,
Apologise's if this is a long one.
I have been reading but not been up to posting for a number of reasons First of all i had that awful bug thing that was going round and to top it off i got a migraine attack on top of it .
Don't really now where to start with the other things so apologise if this seems like a load of rambling but need to get things of my chest.
1. OH told me that it was time to seriously look at changing his car ( cavalier about 16 yrs old) before it went kupt for good and the Tax was due on it . we managed to swop it with a little cash for a slightly newer Astra that has cheaper car Tax. nothing spectucular but ok as he only uses it to and from work. During this change over he got the use of the works van so we shave saved on 3 weeks of petrol. although we don't appear to have had the benefit of this ?
The said new car has already started to cost ie: radio not working had to get new airial (£1 shop thank god) then need some other wiring and now has a water leak thats coming from the thingy, whatsamer flipper i am so  there is no comeback as sold as seen. and i am so :( of hearing about it!! although i do understand.
2. As with everone else Money is really tight in January we have had the worst time ever in December ( struggled to get DD11 for xmas and only very small pressies for DD21 ,DD29 and granchildren. so it has been a knock on effect.
I suddenly realised last week that i hadn't paid the Council Tax for Jan ( had a arrangement with them) that was due 1st but thought i would pay on friday which is pay day.
:eek::eek:Had a visit yesterday while i was at a hospital appt from tthe BALIFF'S OH answered the door not Good as i hadn't said anything to him. .
I had to ring them to discuss further, well they are coming back on Friday and i have to pay them at least £50 and they have agrea to make a monthly arrangement which he said verbally the lowest they will take is £89 pm which on the surface dosen't look to bad but then in april the new CT starts. My oh is on Min wage and i am on DLA which is due for review in the next few months i have never presumed this would be renewed in the past but with all the changes coming in i am more concerned than ever:eek: if i do lose this i would have to go through appeals etc as my health is not good as we have both discussed if i could manage to go back to work and being totally trueful i wouldn't last more than a few days before i would have a total relapse. as i have Fibro/Joint problems in that i can't lift my arms up to above chest level/ artistis in my knees and have recently been diagnosed with a rare condition in my lower legs and feet called EM and Nueropathy. and i only just get by now doing a daily school run and the occasion trip to the local shops.

so all in all i am feeling pretty low.
I hope you don't mind me sharing but i don't really have anyone else to share with as i lost my Mum 5yrs ago, don't really communicate with my sister and my Dad well thats another story
Hey Ho winge over onwards on upwards

Don't worry about whinging it sounds like you have plenty to whinge about. Lots of people here struggling and worrying about their financial future.
I understand your fear about your DLA renewal. Benefits become part of your essential income, their not a luxury. There are threads on MSE which will be able to help you with this.
Visit yesterday must have been awful! I hope you manage to get it sorted out. All this extra worry is so stressful. Am sending a Big Hug to you, and keep on logging in. This thread will keep you sane!
Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”

• Have you applied for ESA, and have you checked if you are entitled to Council Tax Benefit and also Working Tax Credit/Childrens Tax Credit. What you are have is on the DWP list of conditions ESA is paid for, not that I can promise you will get it, I am waiting to hear if I will be transferred to ESA for Incap Ben for fibro among other things. If you haven't applied phone up and ask for claim forms from everywhere today. Don't let anyone on the phone say they will go through with you there and then your income and see if you are entitled to their benefit ( Council are good for that), we don't get any as my incap plus my hubbys min wage takes us £1 over the limit, so technically we would be better off it hubby gave up his job. I never knew I could claim anything in my own right it was only hubby being off work sick for 8 months and social had to come out to see him that they told me I had worked paid my NI so could claim and they even sent me out the form.

Not sure if there is anything else you could claim but put in claims for everything they can only say no.

I was like you last Nov when ESA for turned up, was expecting them to stop Incap Ben any moment, but form been in since beg Dec and heard nothing as yet, so I have stopped worrying ( ok in back of mind) and just working on getting our outgoings down if worst does happen as hubby only has a part time job with odd overtime so if my money goes we will be way, way below benefits amount even with my DLA, but most of that pays for my scooter.

As my Grandma used to say Don't borrow trouble, something I spent most of my life doing, the changes for DLA are not being implemented yet so there is a very good chance you will not only still receive it but it might go up now you have this other condition to add to your bad health.

Just wish I could give you a very big hug in person, but a virtual one will have to do. Get help for some advice agency to fill in your DLA renewal form so its written up in the language they want - like don't put headaches put migraines, just an example.

You unfortunately are not well enough to work and its no use stressing yourself about doing so, I did that as well, all it did was put me in bed for a week whacked with pain and exhaustion, you do not want that, remember Fibro doesn't like stress so you flare.

My heart goes out to you, money worries is the last thing you need.

Hugs

Sorry, Got sidetracked earlier and posted before I was finished rambling- I meant to send hugs and good vibes to those who are not feeling at their best at the mo - and GQ, hope everything is ok with the job!

Now we have a very odd thing happening at Chez Chip, I would appreciate any thoughts:-

I recently cleared an unused bedroom and move a small cotton mat from there into the bathroom. A few days later I noticed a damp patch and stain on it, and assumed it was where OH was not stepping onto the bath mat properly. So I dried it off, had a word with OH who said it was not him, and put it back down. The damp patch came back. So we though it could be the cat (uck! although it did not smell of cat wee at all) and did an experiment to see if it was - dried it off, put it down (the otherway around so the patch was not near the bath) and kept the cat out of the bathroom... the patch came back. Did it again .... damp patch came back.

Now OH is all for getting the vicar round and having an exorcism, but I am a bit of a Fortean and am not excluding a rational explanation We will bung it in the washer and give it a good clean, but I cannot think that anything could have been spilt that could be absorbing moisture from the air - so can anyone think what might be causing it?

It sounds like you might have a leaking pipe under the floor that is just oozing slightly

Just got up and still feel rough, but...

Stillstruggling I wanted to give you hugs too. I hope there is a way to reduce your payments. It's all so worrying amd mortifying, but know you are not the only one. I for one have been there (is there) and worn the t-shirt.

(((((((SS)))))))

Found I didn't have room in my freezer for the whoopsies so have bunged in the oven a mix of mince and stuffing for meat loaf; someone mentioned it not long ago and I thought that sounded so tasty and easy. So thank you!

Thanks also for the hair tips; I'm going to go to the college as it's around £12-£15 there.

You haven't got a leak anywhere have you? Sometimes a tiny hole in a pipe can spray a long way, and if it's really small you mightn't see the jet? I have seen this...can't remember where it was but it happened to us. The hole was MINUSCULE...but where it arced and naturally fell there was a puddle. Either that or is the ceiling above the patch leaking? Perhaps only when it rains....

IMHO ghosts don't do wet patches :D

Is that 'Been there, done that' and now using the t-shirt as a duster? Very OS. :p

And hugs from me to Stillstruggling too...it's a horrible position to be in.

Are you sure Kate :D:D:D?

No, no oozing, the carpet underneath is perfectly dry. And as I have shifted the rug around, and the damp patch is the exact same size and shape and in the same place on the rug, I doubt it is a wandering drip. It is just weird!
