Right then.....I've got all the old duvets and curtains sorted out,we got a load of them at the car boot sales in the summer and I'm teaching my son how to make rag rugs.We made a few of them already but with no carpets on some of the wooden bedroom floors,it's getting a bit chilly on their bottoms! Now to start cutting them all into strips.....maybe coffee and a leftover mince pie first!

Hi Saratoga (love the user name),:wave:

The rag rugs sound interesting; I've never tried, but do remember having them on the floor when I was little, not sure if mum made them or someone else. Are they easy to do? What would I need to start a small rug?

Well, DD said she was coming home Friday as she missed me and I was :T then a couple of hours later it had changed to next week again, but with an extra day, so :(

Don't feel like going to meditation but I will force myself. Otherwise I will sit here and brood, and I want to stop that.

    Report back later :)

Hello Byatt,it's nice to virtually meet you! It's a lot easier than I thought it would be heres the site I used to learn http://www.ragrugcafe.com/toothbrush-rugs-complete-video-instructions-part-1-beginners site but there are loads of others.I use a old spatula handle with the end that has'nt got a hole in it shapened off like a blunt needle,if you need any tips just ask!! You can use any old material,I use old curtains and duvets because I'm lazy and they are bigger strips of material!

Hi toughies. Just dropping in and plan to have a catch up when little ones go to bed.

I have had a busy few days so not been around. All is well here. I can't believe that we're 'ok' for money still. Not brilliant but there's still some left till the 20th. We've had a 5 week month, Christmas and car tax out of this months pay. It ust goes to show what a financial drain it was having to put petrol in the car for DH to get to work. We've had a huge lifting van outside for the past few nights (much to the annoyance of the curtain twitchers) but now his little connect is here it's much better.

DH actually got a text from one of the lads from his depot asking if he could get a lift with someone, on Sunday. He had said he has split with his wife and doesn't have the car. DH picked him up and has arranged for him to take a van till the end of the month as he suspects it's just a rouse as he's in a bit of a mess financially and he has a suspicion that he has no money for his petrol. It makes all the difference when your manager can appreciate money problems I guess. I'm proud of DH for sorting that for him. I'm not a believer of strict management. Yeah you can't have them walking all over you but you have to treat people how you would like to be treat I believe.

Just about to tuck into bacon, potato and leek HM soup. Smells lovely.

    Take care lovely people :)

Ha! Took my eye off the ball and went overdrawn  Very cross with myself. Had sufficient to cover everything, but it was all in wrong places. Still there's been a lot going on! OH and I are both owed money too.

Anyway. Mr T felt COMPELLED :D to e-mail me this morning and tell me it had been 'a while' since I shopped with them online yak yak - and offered me 'the incentive' Bing-go! The only time I ever online shop...managed to get a very boring basics/household order to £50.05p to qualify for my tenner off, and found a three quid delivery slot for practically the middle of the night tomorrow! Seven squiddlys worth having in MY pockets methinks. All stuff I would have bought eventually anyway - bleach, dog food (on offer), Washing up liq. etc.

Will be at W*** myself tommorrow and then the dreaded day Thursday will have arrived (OH's Prostate Biopsy) I gather it's not very pleasant as a procedure :( but it's long overdue being checked out properly. I'm sure it will all be *fine* as his dad has had problems for years that never amounted to anything AFAIK and he's 91 now!

Cut DS's hair earlier before he goes back to college tomorrow. He was very pleased with the results. I must be getting good :rotfl: 'cos there was a time I used to quake in me boots when he asked me to do it!!! LOL he's just walked in again and told me well done!

Cleaned the chookies out again today...finished off the woodchip stuff they have for bedding, so need another bag of that from the smallholding shop.

Tried out a batch of gluten free pancakes too...they came out OK. My American friend sent me a massive GF cookbook, but the author uses a special flour blend she's devised, and I can't get the main ingredient (sorgum?) anywhere. I was chatting in the health shop at the weekend and I basically came to the conclusion I should just try out whatever I want and substitute the Doves Farm GF flour! It's nice to eat something 'normal' without dreading the consequences! I'm finding all the ready to eat things like rice cakes really chewy! (They make my gums sore!)

Oh well, enough prevarication, DS wants a stir fry for dinner... I was given a load of eggs at the weekend and have rice noodles from approved foods for me, DS and OH can have normal ones.

    Evening all,

Just thought I'd pop as I feel a bit 'meh' and the OH isn't here. I'm working for his company at the moment, and his business partner is forthright to say the least.

Today, however, I managed to tell him that he sometimes scares the cr*p out of me and is very unapproachable at times, and he's apologised and promised to try harder. So that was good. What wasn't so good was then sending him a collection of documents over e-mail which looked like they'd been compiled by a chimp :o

He did send back a nice e-mail saying what needed changing, but then suggesting that maybe I should let the OH oversee the docs as he was a bit busy. So now I feel embarassed by my lack of knowledge and admin style..... And it's so unlike me, and I'm very annoyed with myself; I think I'm just that wary of him that I flap and then rush things to get rid of his attention

On different notes, I have a sore behind  after a 90 minute sports massage, but it does mean that I now don't drag my leg behind me in the mornings.

The only OS things I managed to do today was not go to supermarket, and eat out of the storecupboard. Otherwise a totally non-productive day. I may go for a lie-down until the OH comes home at 11pm; I should tidy and clean but I feel sick.

    Sorry for the whinge.

Don't worry, you might be embarrassed about this but I bet he's embarrassed that he's so unapproachable, so you're even!

Hi Greyqueen thanks for you advice. Unfortunately my employers don't know how much I'll be earning each month (it's an agency) so they wouldn't be able to provide a COE. I will wait until the end of February and then apply as I will be able to use the lower wage slips (ie the accurate and not misleading ones!). I will probably have earned less than my tax allowance of £7,000-and-whatever this year so should definitely be entitled to something by then!

The good news is that some of my hours might be re-instated, but I won't know for three weeks.

saratoga - 6 kids! Wow, you must either be full of energy or totally exhausted; I take my hat off to you!

v8monkey not whingeing. Anyway if you can't come here and have a whinge where can you go?

I have a question. I want to set up a Toughie-MSE-Manchester-mini-meet and seed swap. Would it be best to start a new thread or just ask people to pm me? I was thinking maybe the first Saturday in February in Manchester city centre. I don't want to hijack this thread, though!

I am going to do some cross-stitching or knitting tonight - I feel the need to have some crafty time and then an early night ..... zzz zzz. Have a good evening all.
