Hows your chickens ? Mine are back paddling happily around in the Somme which is slowly drying out. I will get some sand on Mon from garden centre and that might break it up a wee bit. Still laying but not one egg each every day now. More like 4 eggs a week each. They seem to like tuna and sardines a LOT but I dont want fishy eggs.
  • Morning folks,

I haven't read back yet, but just to say I was in Mr M this morning and they had packs of 3 x 600ml lock n lock tubs for £1.48 (for the pack of 3). The pack had a label on saying "Value pack £3" but at the check-out it scanned at £1.48 - at which point I legged it back to the shelf to get another 3-pack, which scanned at the same price! Very bargainatious and ideal for taking left over pasta/soup to work! (In fact the check out assistant was asking me where they were so she could get some later!!)

Right, time for a read back, but just wanted to let everyone know cos I know we love our storage stuff on this thread:D

Thanks for info about the steamer. As seeing as I have it I'll use it. I normally roast most of my veg but DD is complaining of the 'sweet' taste and wants school dinner type. I'm guessing steamed to an inch of it's life but as family is about compromise she'll have to have a bit of crunch to her carrots.

I do like the sound of the pan inserts because I am par boiling potatoes anyway. I guess it's worth a try and as long as it doesn't use up a the level of electric a kettle would use for ten minutes then where's the harm. That steamer must be 8 year old now, engagement present and I ashamedly suggest it would have been used a handful of times.

I'm in a downer moody today. I need the sun right now. All this wind and rain is just getting me down. I have downloaded the kindle for PC thingy to try to find a free novel to escape to more interesting times but with two children to entertain it isn't going to be happening anytime soon.

I just CBA today. Hate it when I'm like this.

    Hello everyone!

I stumbled over this thread a couple of days ago and became so hooked I had to join! After reading through, I feel as though you are my friends already, and thought it would be rather rude of me to not introduce myself to you!

Your tips and stories are inspirational and one day I hope to be as savvy as you!

I'll certainly be checking in very often, and who knows, even I may have a tip or two to share!

PS Tesco - 4 x tins beans, buy 1 get 2 free - ideal for storing underneath beds, cupboard kickboards, and bath panels!

I remember collecting the foil tops from milk bottles at school when I was a child but can't remember why.
We used to save them for Blue Peter Appeals, heaven knows what Blue Peter did with so many milk bottle tops!!!

OH off now for a fortnight so having a lazy day today but going swimming tomorrow, OH and DD still on their funded ones so will only have to pay for me. Might go and peruse the matalan sale later on my own as when we went last week with the kids I didn't get much chance to look. I'm half way there on this year's birthdays and I've even got one or two Christmas pressies for next year plus the wrapping paper just need to get the FC paper now.

January is our flush month as OH gets paid 4 weekly and it's the month where it works out that we don't have to pay rent out of it so I try to get as much done for the year as possible in the sales.

aaaghhhhh, why is it no-one takes responsibility. Just spent over an hour with bank and amaz!n trying to sort out the payment that was on hold by my bank even though payment had already been made. This has happened twice now and means I can't get to money that is mine. Bank told me I couldn't be seeing the debit on my account because it hadn't been made; yes I can I said!! Contact amaz!n who after lengthy wait, ask for my full details even though they have them...can't gurarantee bank will release funds!! I know the sysem amaz!n uses, they check with bank to see if funds avaialable and no stolen card etc, but if they have receieved payment how can the bank still hold onto the amount! Does this make sense. It makes me increasingly frustrated as things are supposed to be easier with technology and in fact it's getting harder.

Am making a huge amount of HM broth today. It brings back so many memories of my Mam's 'Hamshank soup' she used to make when we were kids. I don't have a Hamshank (The Price!!) bur Mr A's 500gm pack of bacon pieces (75p!) will do the job just the same. Am making enough for us and both daughters houses. Most of us will have Dumplings in it as well. Such a tasty filling dinner and I get the pleasure of making it! Since I am on such a 'foody' nostalgia trip I am making Liver and Onions for dinner tomorrow ..Whoopsied Liver of course!:T
