No, he's a brown & white tabbie. Classed as a short hair but he's gloriously fluffy (and lovely and warm to snuggle)

Jaspie is a grey and white tabby, very definitely a short hair. The difference in the 2 of them is amazing. How they can both be classed as short hair, I don't know.

I've had moggie cats all my life, but I don't know anything about the classification for them.

I have them because I can't have dogs with working full time. Ideally, I'd have cats & dogs together as they are usually great together. I did in a past life (and chickens, too).

I'd have a houseful of animals if I could. :) In fact, I was just saying to my car-sharer this week, that my ideal job would be with animals...shame I look at computer systems all day :o

Ours is B&W long hair, we got him in late '98 and he was all growed then, so he is very venerable.

I would have loads of animals too, and never had dogs because of work. OH wont let me get one now because of George (cat) - he says he would not like it! But as soon as we have some land we will have a menagerie. Before cats, we had rats, they were great!

    Yes :), they're my darlings.

Darling no 1 is Charlie old-boy cat and is now 14. Had a bad scare with him last March so every extra second is a bonus. Loves sleeping, snuggling and has a GSOH

Darling no 2 is Jasper (aka Jaspie) kitten. 6mths...into everything, hurtles at life 100 mph, loves eating, snuggling and has a GSOH.

Just about sums up my taste in men, I think :rotfl:

The picture is so cute, it looks like Charlie is giving Jaspie the benefit of his wisdom. :)

I am officially in love with John Lewis!! One of the plates of my new dinner set was broken on arrival. As usual with John lewis there was no quibbling about a replacement. There were none left in the internet stock and my local store had none either. Turned out Oxford Street had 51 sets left! They sent a replacement set within three days. refunded the money for the broken set and the delivery charge from London to Durham. (which was only £3!) They told me to keep the crockery from the broken set and gave me a £10 refund for my trouble! Throughout the staff were just lovely. Not a store I often use but will now go again. Amazing service!

  • I miss having a cat but for some unknown reason I suddenly developed a bad allergy to them when our last cat was 6, we had always had cats, dogs, rabbits, gebrtils, hamsters. Did not get rid of cat just spent a lot of time in emergency being helped to breath lol with doctors saying I must get rid of cat, sadly he died aged 10 and miss him still and that was 12 years ago. Drs advised no more small furry pets either but thankfully doggies ok and we now just have 3 oldest passed 5 years ago, and they are getting old youngest is 13 and other two 14. I live in dread of losing them, youngest I brought up literally from birth as her mum ( oldest dog that has passed didn't want her) so she is my baby totally used to walk around with her in my bra during the day to keep her warm and in a shoebox with lambs wool blanket over a hot water bottle at night till she started climbing out and joined us in bed which to this day she treats as hers - others have the dogs bed but get on the bed with me every chance they get. What amazes me is how they all happily will spend all day with me in bedroom, hubby downstairs but only now and again will they go down and spend some time with him and he is one that feeds them, you would think they would get bored, now ok they are older and sleep more but where like this when younger, but they decided they are mine and where I am they are, am always falling over a dog or two :)

Thanks Byatt! Well done on the trip, I hate busy city centres, would no more go xmas / sales shopping in Oxford St than cut an arm off. Hate crowds and all the noise. And I am a city girl too!

For years I worked on Regent St (in fact my office is still there but i work from home some considerable distance away!) and that's the reason I pretty much avoid shops in December. Police to direct pedestrians across the road there are so many of them. Ugh. I'm well out of it.

Oh I am so sorry my story( and others) - which I only told part to try and help others get through their troubles now as mine are in the past and I am still here to annoy you all. Please never let anyone's story get you that down, there is nothing you can do for another person on here except send good thoughts

We all have enough with our own lives without taking on the world to that extent - but sometimes if we know another has gone through tough times and come out the other side, ok not quite the same person but still with hope it can help you get through your own tough times, keep you ploughing on till your personal sky does seem to lighten again and the storm clouds pass and we are able to look towards the future again, I promise you it does happen.

You obviously are a very caring compassionate person, my love goes out to you, hugs:A

You are so right... it's hard to see a brighter lighter life ahead, but we do get there. The stories we read here resonate in some way with most of us, we have all failed and fallen, climbed out and breathed a little easier. Humanity in all it's forms....it's a bit of a !!!!!!!!

I know. They sat like that for quite a while, and it did look as though Charlie was saying "now look, son, it's like this...this is MY house, and MY mum and My pouffe, but you can share...and out there is a scary big world, with a horrible main road, so NEVER EVER go to the front of the house....and watch out for getting under mum's feet in the kitchen when she's had a glass of wine...and ...mind, if you jump on me again, I'll knock your block off........!'

I'd only had Jaspie a couple of hours when he v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y crept onto the pouffe next to Charlie. Shortly after this photo was taken, they were galloping around together. Charlie just has to give Jaspie a warning look to make him subside. Strange that...I have to stand in the middle of the room and SHRIEK to get him to listen to ME!

Can you tell I LUVS them :rotfl:

But I'll shut up now as I know I can bore for England...like did I tell you about the time Jaspie....oh, and the time Charlie....

    xx

No, Mr Chip could be right, a dog may be too much for George at his time of life.

I debated for all of 30 seconds when I was offered the kitten (rejected from his new home's cat, by 3 mths he was onto his 3rd home, poor soul). But I knew that Charlie has always got on well with other animals (mine or neighbours etc), but even so, the first couple of weeks I did wonder if I'd done the right thing by Charlie, as Jaspie pulled him around something rotten, and I could see that Charlie was stressed. All ok now though, it feels like we've been a wee family for years.:)

Can I come and work for you when you get your menagerie. Sounds like the kind of fabulous dream I have, to have land and animals :T
