I know. They sat like that for quite a while, and it did look as though Charlie was saying "now look, son, it's like this...this is MY house, and MY mum and My pouffe, but you can share...and out there is a scary big world, with a horrible main road, so NEVER EVER go to the front of the house....and watch out for getting under mum's feet in the kitchen when she's had a glass of wine...and ...mind, if you jump on me again, I'll knock your block off........!'

I'd only had Jaspie a couple of hours when he v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y crept onto the pouffe next to Charlie. Shortly after this photo was taken, they were galloping around together. Charlie just has to give Jaspie a warning look to make him subside. Strange that...I have to stand in the middle of the room and SHRIEK to get him to listen to ME!

Can you tell I LUVS them :rotfl:

But I'll shut up now as I know I can bore for England...like did I tell you about the time Jaspie....oh, and the time Charlie....

    xx

I have always had cats, but had to "give them up" (that is future cats), as I live near a very busy road, well, on a busy road actually!:rotfl:

So it's been about 4 years out of my whole life not having cats. My pooch is my baby, and she's 12 this year. (My older pooch had to be put to sleep just after her 11th birthday) She looks something like my avatar with the exact same patch! I have masses of pictures and could bore for England. I have to share her with my DD now, which is hard. So it's been lovely having her around for a whole month. A house is not a home without a pet...whatever the pet. :A

edit to add: When I had my black cat, who was very unsociable, a bit of a bruiser of a tom cat, would only come to me and hissed at ex (:D), we introduced 2 lively kittens. My cat was most put out at first and there was some fisty cuffs going on...but then he turned into a surrogate dad... he would squeeze into their basket and lick them, all 3 would lie in front of the fire...it was so sweet. Just goes to show how sociable cats are.

I miss having a cat but for some unknown reason I suddenly developed a bad allergy to them when our last cat was 6, we had always had cats, dogs, rabbits, gebrtils, hamsters. Did not get rid of cat just spent a lot of time in emergency being helped to breath lol with doctors saying I must get rid of cat, sadly he died aged 10 and miss him still and that was 12 years ago. Drs advised no more small furry pets either but thankfully doggies ok and we now just have 3 oldest passed 5 years ago, and they are getting old youngest is 13 and other two 14. I live in dread of losing them, youngest I brought up literally from birth as her mum ( oldest dog that has passed didn't want her) so she is my baby totally used to walk around with her in my bra during the day to keep her warm and in a shoebox with lambs wool blanket over a hot water bottle at night till she started climbing out and joined us in bed which to this day she treats as hers - others have the dogs bed but get on the bed with me every chance they get. What amazes me is how they all happily will spend all day with me in bedroom, hubby downstairs but only now and again will they go down and spend some time with him and he is one that feeds them, you would think they would get bored, now ok they are older and sleep more but where like this when younger, but they decided they are mine and where I am they are, am always falling over a dog or two :)

What a lovely story about your wee dogs. Animals do definitely decide who they belong to. My ex had a wee dog, and very quickly after we got together that wee dog decided I was the one to snuggle with, and lean against, and he also slept snuggled in on my side of the bed. Without a doubt he loved my ex, but he loved me more :rotfl: We did a test once where we both called him...guess who "won" :T

They seem to know instinctively who to trust, and I find that very touching.

ETA - I'm not doing a very good job of reading the thread. Am dotting around all over the place! Right, am off back to page 124, so I can catch up on all your doings!!!

I live on a busy main road, too, but I can only hope that Jaspie continues to stay round the back of the house, He's only allowed out supervised at the moment - I call for him every couple of minutes, and am desperately trying to train him...Charlie knew instinctively the road was bad, as do the other cats near me..I'll be so devasted if anything happens.

Your little dog sounds lovely :). I think pets are a huge solace, make it worth coming home, and definitely make it feel more like a home rather than just a house. Can't imagine not having a pet.

We might never get the land, but I can dream!

We go to a farm in cornwall twice a year and they have about 7 cats - whenever one dies, annother one creeps out of the countryside to take it's place! There is def a hierarchy, and we have watched some teriiffic fisticuffs in the yard! Young upstarts getting told what is what by the boss. We take George as it's the only time he can be a free-range cat, and he has gradually got used to all the other cats. He ignores some (they all pretty much ignore him), but there is a lot of hissing (by him) if his nemesis and evil twin Charlie gets too close!

    Ooohh No!! :(

I've just bought 4 bowls of Christmas pate (whoopsied at 50p each from £2.99 :money:) and was planning on freezing it :(. Does anyone else freeze pate? What's the worst that can happen if I do? Damn!!

I freeze pate too. I freeze anything and everything. Occasionally something seperates and needs a stir, but on the whole, I've not had any disasters.

That is so cool, taking George..."free-range cat," fabulous! :):T

    Good morning everyone :)

Can I ask you all a question? How expensive to run are those electric vegetable steamers, do you know? I have pulled my model out from the depths of the cupboard and going to give it a whirl thinking it may be cheaper than having two or three hob rings on when making a Sunday lunch.

Is it worth it money wise do you think?

Fuddle I would think it would be cheaper than using the hob. If you check the wattage you can work out the cost. I have a hob top one which I use, but as you already own the electric one I'd go with that.

Totally obvious money saving cooking tip (from that How to Feed Your Family... book) that I never thought of but will try to remember to do from now on - If you have the oven on, for example for chips and fish fingers, heat the beans up in a pyrex dish in the bottom of the oven instead of putting a hob on.

Kids just had (reduced to 15p in Waitrose the other day) mini pancakes (Blini apparently, should have cost £2.49 for what is basically batter!) with cut up fruit and fromage frais for breakfast. I too noticed the 12% hike in value fromage frais (Morrisons) yesterday. Shocking! Can I freeze them?

Redlady come out and play. I desperately need cheering up after a week of bad ME and a very very RV. Might change his name to the MCGRV.
Put your guesses to that on the back of a £50 and send them to me. The winner gets to keep him.
